3 GENERAL INFORMATION Course Description This one-day course is designed to provide up-to-date information along with practical evaluation and management strategies for children who present in the primary care setting with urgent problems. The curriculum includes lectures and hands-on interactive workshops with an opportunity to discuss issues with emergency room experts. 4 FACULTY Guest Faculty M. Douglas Baker, MD, Professor of Pediatrics, Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine; Vice Chair for Community Outreach, Department of Pediatrics and Director of, John Hopkins Children s Center. Dr. Baker has been recognized as a leader in the field of pediatric emergency medicine, and internationally for his research on the management of fever in infants. He has held leadership roles in the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Ambulatory Pediatric Association, among other organizations, and has received numerous awards, including for six consecutive years the Jean A. Cortner Divisional Teaching Award for Excellence at Children s Hospital of Philadelphia. Previously, Dr. Baker served as director of medical services and chief of pediatric emergency medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, and as chief of pediatric emergency medicine at Yale-New Haven Children s Hospital.
