2 Programme Directors ROBERTO D. CIGOLINI MIP Programme Director Roberto Cigolini holds a Master in Management, Economics and Industrial Engineering from Politecnico di Milano. He is currently an Associate Professor at the same university since 2003 and is also engaged in research on topics of operations management for production and services, design and management of logistics systems and supply chain of goods and services, and modeling of processes and of production for logistics systems. He is also a member of various associations related to the sector as APICS (The Association for Operations Management) and IAPE (International Association of Planning Engineers). DESIRÉE KNOPPEN EADA Programme Director Desirée Knoppen holds a Ph.D. in Management Science from ESADE Business School and a M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering and Management Science from the Eindhoven University of Technology, the Netherlands. She is affiliated to Zaragoza Logistics Center (MIT-Zaragoza International Logistics Program) as an adjunct professor. Her research focuses on learning capabilities and innovation in the context of supply chain relationships, using case studies and surveys. She has published her research in international peer reviewed journals such as Journal of Supply Chain Management, International Journal of Production and Operations Management, International Journal of Human Resource Management, and Management Learning. She is associate editor of Survey Research Methods. Desirée has been actively involved in organizational improvement projects in a wide range of sectors, in different countries, both as a consultant (SINTEC, Inter Access, EMI Music) as well as a manager (Laboratorios Pisa). She is currently Head of the Marketing, Operations and Supply Department. Programme Directors 2

3 MIP Politecnico di Milano ALESSANDRO BRUN Alessandro Brun holds a Master and Ph.D. in Management, Economics and Industrial Engineering from Politecnico di Milano. He has developed extensive experience in academics as Researcher and Visiting Lecturer in courses related to Supply Chain Management in different universities such as C4D Cranfield University (UK), Bauman University (Moskow, Russia) and Chiang Mai University (Thailand). As an Associate Professor at Politecnico di Milano, he has published extensively in the area of Quality Management and Supply Management, focusing on industries in which Italy plays an important role: luxury goods, sports business management and food processing and distribution. FEDERICO CANIATO Federico Caniato earned a Master of Science and a Ph.D. in Management Engineering from Politecnico di Milano. He is currently working as Associate Professor at the School of Management of Politecnico di Milano, teaching Management at both undergraduate and graduate level. At MIP he teaches Purchasing and Supply Chain Management in various programs (including corporate education programs) and he is the director of the Master of Supply Chain and Purchasing Management (joint program with Audencia Nantes School of Management). His research interests are in the fields of Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, and Manufacturing Strategy. He authored several international publications in various Operations Management journals, and he works as a reviewer for some of them. GIOVANNI MIRAGLIOTTA Giovanni Miragliotta is an Associate Professor at Politecnico di Milano. His research interests span from Supply Chain Management and Operations Management to the Internet of Things & Radio Frequency Identification applications for business as well as Mobile Payment & Commerce, Complexity Management and Luxury Operations Management. Within the above fields, he has published many papers in important journals and has authored over 70 publications for international conferences. 3

4 MARGHERITA PERO Margherita Pero holds a Master and a Ph.D. in Management, Economics and Industrial Engineering from Politecnico di Milano. She has experience in the academic field, having worked as a Researcher and Visiting Professor in several universities and participated in major projects funded by the European Union such as the project Improve the supply chain for container transport and integrated security simultaneously - IMCOSEC and Advancing Research Program Education and Exploitation for the Support of National Innovation Systems - PARENIS. Since 2010 Margherita is a professor at Politecnico di Milano and has published in prestigious journals. ALBERTO PORTIOLI STAUDACHER Alberto Portioli holds a Master in Management, Economics and Industrial Engineering from Politecnico di Milano. He has combined his teaching career at Politecnico di Milano with the position of visiting researcher at Wayne State University (Detroit, USA). He has designed, launched and directed the International Master in Industrial Management, delivered together with Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Madrid), Heriot-Watt University (Edinburgh) and TUM School of Management (Munich). He is currently a Full Professor at Politecnico di Milano and since 2010 Director of BSc and MSc in Management Engineering. STEFANO RONCHI Stefano Ronchi holds a MSc and PhD in Engineering Management in Supply Chain Management from Politecnico di Milano. Stefano has been a researcher and visiting professor at MIT and at the Universitaet der Bundeswehr, Munich. He has also taught Supplier Relationship Management at the University of Buenos Aires and has been working as Strategy Consultant at IBM electronic purchase Europe, USA and Asia. He is currently a Full Professor at Politecnico di Milano. 4

5 EADA JORDI ASSENS SERRA Strategy, Leadership and People Jordi Assens holds a degree in Biology from Universitat de Barcelona, a General Management Diploma from EADA and a Master in Information and Knowledge Society from UOC. His areas of interest are related to the human aspects of companies, from more strategic aspects such as creating efficacious cultures right up to developing competencies on a personal level. He is the author of the books Huevos con Beicon: cómo aumentar el compromiso de los colaboradores con su empresa and Triunfar con el inglés: saber aprender un idioma cuando uno no es tan joven. Jordi is a visiting professor at EDHEC (France), NIMBAS (Berlin) and CENTRUM (Peru). Ha has worked as a trainer and consultant for companies such as Grupo Agbar, AMES, CRG, Grifols, Grupo Ferrer, Honda, Mango, Roche Diagnostics, Sharp and TMB. Jordi is the Director of the General Management and the People Management Programmes and a Professor in the EADA Strategy, Leadership and People Department. FOTIS CHRISTODOULOPOULOS Fotis Christodoulopoulos obtained his degree as an Electrical Engineer at the RWTH Aachen University (Germany) and an MBA at ENPC / Collège des Ingénieurs (Paris). After 10 years in operations in manufacturing companies and occupying plant management positions in Greece and Belgium, he started working in 2003 in the consulting sector for technology and continuous improvement. Fotis is a Six Sigma Master Black Belt and Lean Expert and has led operational excellence projects in North & South America and Europe. He is currently working as a consultant in operations & innovation and is an associate professor at UPC for strategy in telecommunications and at EADA for operations management. JUAN CARLOS GARCÍA PÉREZ Juan Carlos García is a Roads, Canal and Ports Engineer, Investment and Financing Advisor, MBA and has a Master of Business Informatics from the Rotterdam School of Management (Netherlands). He also holds a Certificate in Supply Chain Leadership by the Wisconsin-Madison University and the Certified Supply Chain Professional by APICS - The Association for Operations Management. Juan Carlos has directed, planned and implemented several projects for the analysis and improvement of supply chains, their integration and collaboration, and inventory optimization and service and increasing financial efficiency. He is currently working internationally for Accenture - Capability Network, where he is a member of the Supply Chain Center of Excellence and globally leads Inventory Optimisation practices. 5

6 MARIA CARMEN GIL RIPOLL Strategy, Leadership and People Carme Gil holds a degree in Organizational Psychology from Universitat de Barcelona, an EADA diploma in People Management, an Executive Master in Human Resources Management and a Master in Leadership and Organisational Coaching from EADA. Furthermore she is an Accredited Professional Coach (PCC) and Team Coach from the International Coach Federation (ICF). She has taken part in the Supervising the Coach programme by the Escuela Europea de Coaching and the NLP Practitioner Programme from the Institute Gestalt, she is also certified in LIFO methodologies and in Belbin Team Roles. She is a co-author of various books, such as 50 Lecciones de management and La gestión de conflictos en las organizaciones. She received the Award of Psychology Coaching in its first edition (2014) organized by the College of Psychologists of Catalonia by researching on the effectiveness of coaching processes. She has a great deal of proven expertise in the field of consultancy and people development, managerial skills and executive and team coaching, and has implemented projects for companies such as Almirall, Grifols, Honda, Mango, Pikolin, Henkel, Freixenet, Abertis, TMB and cooperativa Suara, among others. Carme directs the Coaching Service and the Managerial Development Programme at EADA. ALEX GRASAS LEON Àlex Grasas graduated as an Industrial Engineer from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and has a Master and PhD in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Florida (USA). He is a researcher of the Business Analytics Research Group at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra where he taught in the Economics and Business Department for 5 years. He is doing research in the areas of Retail Operations Management, Operations Research for Health Care and Vehicle Routing and has published and presented his work in journals and international conferences. He has taught undergraduate, masters and executive education courses in Operations Management, Inventory & Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Project Management and Quantitative Methods in various universities and business schools in Spain, Peru and the United States. Àlex is an associate professor of Operations in the Department of at EADA. 6
