4 GPS Futsal Curriculum Session One - Foot Work and Ball Manipulation TECHNICAL PRACTICE: SKILLS CORRIDOR channels of 0x5 yards (as shown) Each player has a ball and is to dribble the ball down the centre of the team s channel to the end. You cannot go into another channel. Once at the end they dribble around the outside of the channel and back to the start. (Tell players that they can go when there is space in front of them and only to stop when Coach says stop) - Dribble the ball keeping it close - Tap the ball slightly in one direction - Push the ball with the other foot in the opposite direction - Accelerate into the space - Challenges (Player & in diagram): - Players dribble down channel in as many touches as possible - Few touches as possible - Use as many parts of the feet as possible - Can now go into one other channel before getting to the top - Go into all channels before getting to the top - Add defender in the channels. TACTICAL: Foot Work and passing Create an 8x8 square. On each side of the square place a ladder or hurdles as shown in diagram. 8 yards from each corner of the square place a cone for each team to stand by. Split into four equal teams. Front player in each team has a ball. First player dribbles ball to the cone in front of their group. Player leaves the ball and turns right through either ladder or hurdles. Once through player passes new ball to next group. This should be an intense continuous session with sprints in between each cone. Increase distance of cones to increase workload. - Dribbling skills - head up, keep ball close, different surfaces - Quick feet, maintain balance SMALL SIDED GAME: 46x7 yards field Play 5v5 with a focus on clever creative play in attack and defensive shape when not in possession of the ball. ends in tie team who has been on longest is out or if you have two teams sitting out both teams off. - Different ball skills to dribble to cone (toe taps, roll over with sole) - Dribble next ball back to next group Perform any fast foot work exercise through ladders or hurdles - Give points for correct use of v moves - Exploit vs

Players then have freedom to dribble through any of the four challenges in any creative way they can. Players then pass ball to free player on outside and find another ball. This should be an intense continuous session with sprints in between each cone. Increase distance of cones to increase workload. - Use different foot surfaces to manipulate the ball - Quality and weight of pass - Clever and creative receiving skills - Player must make overlapping run around server before they receive ball into area - Wall pass with server before turning with ball - Server now dribbles into the area rather than pass in. Player who passes ball out replaces player on outside - Add defender in central zone to apply pressure to players receiving the ball.
