1 Work History Analysis A Systematic Approach To Identifying Your Most Marketable Job Related Skills, Knowledge, Abilities & Experiences A thorough evaluation of prior work experience is critical to preparing a person for a job search. This set of worksheets will help job seekers do a better job of analyzing their previous job functions and begin the process of creating a career vocabulary and synthesizing the information for use in application forms, resumes, cover letters and most importantly, during the interview. No matter what type of work a person performs, everyone functions and interacts with their job and employer in at least six (6) different ways: 1. Everyone works with some kind of data (information) on their job. 2. Everyone interacts with people while at work. 3. Everyone uses some type of tool, machine or equipment to get the job done. 4. Everyone is required to solve job related problems. 5. People are usually rewarded for exceptional job performance. 6. Most employers check references to determine an applicants "hireability." Directions: Complete a work history analysis for each job held for more than six (6) months. Be as detailed and accurate as possible. A common interview question that throws many job applicants is: "What would your former employer and co-workers say about you when I call them to check your references?"
