4 Pay & Benefits Servus Credit Union knows the important role pay and benefits play in attracting and retaining excellent employees. Our programs in this area ensure every employee is paid well for their time, rewarded for their accomplishments and has the tools to live a long, healthy life. Compensation Servus Credit Union knows how important it is to attract and retain excellent employees. At Servus, salary is only one part of the total Employee Advantage but it s an important part. We re committed to compensating our employees fairly, competitively and in a manner that is fiscally responsible. To ensure this, we conduct annual salary surveys and market comparisons. Servus Incentive Pay Program (SIPP) Servus shares its financial success with its employees through the Servus Incentive Pay Program. Through the achievement of corporate, branch/department and individual goals, employees have an opportunity to earn a lump sum incentive in addition to their regular pay. Vacation and Other Leaves Servus promotes a healthy life/work balance for every employee. We provide new employees with three weeks of vacation from their first day, four weeks after only five years of service and, after 10 years, an extra day every year building up to five weeks in their 15th year of employment! Our longest serving employees (25-plus years) enjoy an outstanding six weeks of vacation every year. In addition, we offer flex days, critical care and emergency days, paid sick days (for full-time employees) and a flexible leave program for new parents, employees returning to school and employees taking time for international volunteer opportunities, to name just a few possibilities. 4 Servus Employee Advantage

5 Flexible Work Arrangements Servus Credit Union recognizes the benefits that flexible work arrangements provide employees and the organization. Enhanced life/work balance, increased employee retention and, in turn, knowledge retention to name a few. Flexible work arrangements are considered on a case-by-case basis in order to ensure the needs of the individual, their peers and our credit union are met. Here are just a few: Discounted banking rates: - No fees on up to two banking accounts - An additional 1.5% on posted investment rates - Discounted rates on loans and mortgages - Interest-free loan for the purchase of a computer - Employee rates on a MasterCard credit card Group RSP: - A matched contribution program that helps our employees build their retirement savings - New employees can contribute up to 5% of their earnings and long serving employees, up to 10% Health: - Life insurance, disability insurance, and health and dental insurance at premiums that are cost shared with Servus - A Flexible Spending Account that employees can use to supplement their health and dental benefits, or pay for eligible wellness items 5 Servus Employee Advantage

President s Award of Excellence The President s Award of Excellence recognizes employees who go above and beyond what is normally expected of them in their regular duties. Employees receiving an award enjoy an all expenses paid trip for themselves and a guest to the World Credit Union Conference. This global conference is held in a different location around the world each year. Servus Social Committees and Employee Events Servus Credit Union s social committees plan a number of activities and events that give employees and their families an opportunity to socialize outside of work. Servus provides funds for holiday season celebrations and other activities throughout the year. Recruitment and Selection Servus Credit Union is committed to the principle of equal employment opportunity for all applicants. Employee Referral Part of our recruitment strategy includes encouraging existing employees to refer people they believe have the skills required for a position and will fit the culture of our credit union. The individual goals and objectives in those plans are tied to the credit union s overarching strategic imperatives. This ensures our employees know how their work contributes to the success of our organization. We approach learning as a shared responsibility - our employees take an active role in identifying and pursuing appropriate learning opportunities and we provide support for them to do it. Among the programs Servus provides its employees to help them maintain their good health are: Ergonomic assessments Wellness seminars on a variety of topics Employee Assistance Program Servus has partnered with Shepell.fgi, an internationally recognized service provider, to ensure our employees have the help they need, when they need it. Our Employee Assistance Program helps employees and their families resolve the personal problems that can interfere with their lives and their work through group wellness seminars (organized by Servus) or individual counselling that is both private and completely confidential. 10 Participation Forums Actively participating in things beyond your regular duties is a great way to gain extra experience, meet new people and have input into things that matter to you. These are the formal programs in place at Servus, but there are many informal opportunities to get involved as well. President s Advisory Council Our President s Advisory Council was formed as a way to engage employees and support our credit union. The Council consists of 20 employees from across the organization who are passionate advocates of our credit union. They represent the interests of our employees and meet regularly with our CEO to provide feedback on programs, products and processes. Every employee (up to and including the Manager level) may apply for a position on the Council. Human Resources Advisory Council The Human Resources Advisory Council gives employees the opportunity to provide input, offer suggestions and act as a communication channel to/from their peers on programs and initiatives specific to Human Resources. Committee members are recruited on an as needed basis, ensuring geography, position and experience are fairly represented. Servus Young Leaders Network With nearly 65% of employees under the age of 44, Servus has many talented and aspiring young leaders in its ranks. The Servus Young Leaders Network (SYLN) was created by a group of these dynamic young professionals to help promote the development of their peers. The SYLN focuses on personal development, leadership skill development and mentorship. Members are encouraged to put their leadership skills to work by expanding their involvement in community initiatives, corporate proposals/projects and networking. Membership in the SYLN is limited to employees age 35 and under. 10 Servus Employee Advantage

11 Social Committees Servus Credit Union s social committees plan a number of activities and events that enhance life/work balance for our employees. They re also a great way to get involved in life at Servus. In addition to our Corporate Social Committee, which plans larger scale events for all employees (like the Christmas party and summer BBQ), each branch and department has their own committee that supports team building and fun at the local level. Café (Collaborative Application for Employees) Café is Servus online discussion board. It s a place for our employees to engage with each other and create a sense of community. Café is where you can collaborate, connect and discuss anything and everything as well as bring forward ideas and solutions.
