2 Introduction: The Edison Park Community Council is proud to present its 2016 Scholarship Award. There are 3 scholarships to be awarded to an Edison Park resident who will be attending a university, college or trade school in the fall of Eligibility: Applicant must be a graduating high school senior during the school year. Applicant must be an Edison Park resident at the time of application (north of the Kennedy Expressway and west of Harlem to the city limits). Applicant may not be the child of a current director or officer of the Edison Park Community Council. Applicant must submit a completed application packet to the Edison Park Community Council on or before February 1, Selection Criteria: Applicants will be judged on a 500-word essay, on a topic that will be provided, by a panel of judges comprising of officers and directors of the Edison Park Community Council. The winner will be announced on March 1, 2016 at a dinner reception. Application Instructions: A completed application packet must be submitted to the Edison Park Community Council on or before February 1, The application packet must include the following: A completed Application Form A copy of the applicant s driver s license or other identification as verification of the applicant s residency A Personal Reference Statement completed by one Edison Park resident (not a family member or a officer/director of the Edison Park Community Council) A copy of the letter from the college, university or trade school indicating the applicant s acceptance into a program of study in the school year. If not available at application, a copy must be provided prior to disbursement of funds. 500 word essay on a topic to be provided (see Essay Cover Sheet) Mail or hand deliver completed application packet to: Edison Park Community Council, Attention: Scholarship Committee, 6730 N. What event or program would you implement to benefit Edison Park and it s residents? Who would it benefit? Why is that important to you? Would it be be for a specific person or cause?
