2 COTTON BOWL CLASSIC The Dallas Tennis Association s (DTA) Cotton Bowl Classic is a tournament that for over 50 years is played annual and is typically held the last week in December, after the Christmas Holiday and between New Year s Eve. The tournament draws in over 1,200 players ranging in ages 18 and up. The tournament is held at six premier, locations in the Dallas, area providing maximum exposure. DALLAS TENNIS ASSOCIATION (DTA) The Dallas Tennis Association (DTA) is a 501(c)3 that manages United States Tennis Association (USTA) leagues and tournaments and provides tennis, education and life skills to the under-resourced youth in the Dallas community. The Dallas Tennis Association was founded in the 1930 s as the Dallas Patrons Association. The name developed over the course of time when a partnership began with the Dallas Parks and Recreation department in the 1960s, a partnership still in place today. The mission has strengthen from recreational tennis to include tennis, education and life skills for Dallas area youth. The Dallas Tennis Association has evolved, providing opportunities to thousands of Dallas youth each year. For more than 30 years, the DTA has developed, maintained and operated charitable programs that serve diverse communities of children, including, but not limited to, at-risk, financially disadvantaged and children with disabilities. Our programs attract diverse families from all over the city, and through free programs and scholarships, we make sure our programs are available to children at all no matter their socioeconomic level. UNITED STATES TENNIS ASSOCIATION (USTA) The United States Tennis Association (USTA) is the national governing body for the sport of tennis and the recognized leader in promoting and developing the sport s growth on every level in the United States, from local communities to the crown jewel of the professional game, the US Open. The USTA is a not-for-profit organization with more than 700,000 members. OUR LEAGUE MEMBERS AND IMPACT The Dallas Tennis Association is over 12,000 adult participants strong, making it one of the largest associations in Texas. Our members include a diverse cross-section of business men and women and reflects the community at large. We reach approximately 25,000 Dallas children each year through the Dallas Tennis and Education Academy (DTEA), the philanthropic arm of the DTA and the Dallas Chapter of the USTA National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) program. We provide children with tutoring, tennis instruction, life skills training and tennis equipment. Through the generous support of individuals, businesses, foundations, DTA league players and the USTA Foundation s mission we are able to make a different through our numerous programs. DTA s supported programs promote healthy lifestyles through tennis activities, while providing educational tutoring and teaching valuable life lessons to our children.
