1 Direct Connect Activation QuickBooks 2013 End User Setup These steps should be completed after the enrollment window has been opened in Online Banking. If the user has just created a new company profile, they will likely be presented with the following screen to add their information. They will need to click on Start Working to be able to start connecting. Click on the Online Banking option to begin connecting with Northwest Online Banking. If they don t have any accounts set up for online services, they will be prompted to confirm to set them up. Then they will be prompted to temporarily close all open QuickBooks windows to begin the set up. Member FDIC

2 The user will be prompted to select which QuickBooks account they would like to connect with Northwest. They can select <Add New> if they don t have account listed yet, or select an existing account. Then select Next. Search and select Northwest Savings Bank and then select Next.

3 The user is prompted to ensure that they are first enrolled in Northwest s Direct Connect service. Select Continue. The user is prompted to enter their Northwest Online Banking login credentials. Business users should use the following formula to enter their credentials: LOGINID-COMPANYID (example: TTCCC ) and then Sign In.

4 Several types of loading screens may display to the user as the accounts are retrieved. Once all of the accounts have been retrieved, the customer needs to select the account that they would like to sync in QuickBooks. For example, if they have already entered the account number on the QuickBooks side, they will need to make sure they sync it to the same account number at this step. Once an account is highlighted, select Next. Once the account has been linked in QuickBooks, a confirmation will display. Select Finish.

5 The user will then be prompted to select the Online Banking Mode for QuickBooks. They can either use Side-by-Side or Register and can select the Do not display this message in the future to lock their selection in. Select Continue. From the Online Banking Center, they will need to select Add Transactions to QuickBooks to bring in the downloaded transactions for the account. A drop down menu will display showing all available accounts.

6 The user will be able to then add individual transactions. To add them one at a time, highlight the desired transaction and complete the payee/account information that will be displayed to the right. Then, select Add to QuickBooks. Too add multiple transactions, select Add Multiple.

7 A new window will be presented with all of the transactions that were downloaded from Online Banking. Select each transaction that should be added and assign the payee/account information. Once all of the transactions have been categorized, select Add Selected. NOTE: QuickBooks 2013 only adds one account at a time. In order to sync additional accounts, from the Banking menu, select Online Banking and then Set up Account for Online Services. This will bring them back to the beginning of the process and they will need to complete all of the steps above again.

8 Creating Online Bill Payments QuickBooks will not automatically add the BillPay option to the accounts. To active BillPay with Direct Connect, the user needs to select Chart of Accounts from the Lists menu. Highlight the account that is enrolled for Bill Pay in Online Banking and select the Account menu, and then select Edit Account. From the Edit Account menu, check the Online Bill Payments box that is in the Online Services tab. Then, select Save & Close the user will then be prompted to confirm Online Bill Payment Activation.

9 Once the account has been activated for BillPay, the user will need to select Receive Transactions from the Online Banking Center to bring in the payees that the user has in Online Banking. They will be prompted to enter their password, and then select OK. Once the update has completed, they will be presented with a Transmission Summary that will show the number of payment and payee notifications received. Select Close.

10 From the Online Banking Center menu, select the Alerts link from the Items Received section. This will bring up a list of all of the alerts for the account, including payee alerts. From the Alerts Received list, double click on the alert that says Payee named NAME detected. The user will then be prompted to match the payee with a payee within QuickBooks. If the user does not already have this payee in their QuickBooks payee list, they will be able to create a new payee by selecting <Add New> from the name list.

11 Once <Add New> is selected, they will be prompted to select the Name Type for the new payee. Vendor, Customer, Employee or Other are the options presented. Select OK. After the Name Type has been selected, they will be presented with the Payee information screen. The user should enter the payee name exactly as it is listed in Northwest Online Banking to ensure the payees are synced correctly. Only the Name Field needs to be completed, QuickBooks will sync the rest of the information from what is in Northwest Online BillPay.

12 Select OK once the payee fills in. A confirmation will show with the address information that will be synced to the newly created payee in QuickBooks. Select Yes to sync the address/account information. Continue these steps for all of the payee detected alerts. Once all of the payees have been synced with QuickBooks, the user can select Pay Bills if they have entered bills for the payee. If the user does not use the Enter Bills option from the vendor list, they can select Write Online Checks to complete a payment.

13 Make sure the Pay Online check box is selected, and then select the payee from the Pay to the Order of menu. QuickBooks will enter the earliest available date for the selected payee. Complete the amount information and select Save and Close or Save and New. Once they close, they will be presented an alert that the payment has not yet been sent and instructing the user on how to send the payment from the Online Banking Center menu.

14 From the Online Banking Center menu, you will see that there is a pending payment; select Send/Receive Transactions to send payment. Enter Password for Online Banking when prompted. Once the payment has been submitted successfully, they user will receive a Transmission Summary with the payment instructions that were sent. Select Close.

15 If the user needs to cancel a payment that was set up using Northwest Online BillPay, they can select the Cancel Payment option from the Online Banking Center. They will then be shown all available payments that can be canceled. Select the appropriate payment and select Cancel Payment. When prompted, select Yes to confirm cancellation. Once back at the Online Banking Center menu, select Send/Receive Transactions to send the pending payment cancellation. A confirmation will display once completed.

16 Completing a Transfer To transfer funds from QuickBooks, select Transfer Funds from the Banking menu. Complete the transfer information and make sure that the Online Funds Transfer box is checked, and then select Save & Close or Save & New. Once they close, they will be presented with an alert that the transfer has not yet been sent and instructing them how to complete the transaction. From the Online Banking Center, select Send/Receive Transactions. Note that there is a summary of pending transactions. To view/edit transaction, click on Transfers (#) link.

17 When prompted, enter the Online Banking password and select OK. Once the transaction has been completed, an Online Transmission Summary will be displayed. If a user has pending transactions in the Online Banking Center and tries to close QuickBooks without sending them, they will be alerted with the following message. They will have the option to Send Now, exit without sending or cancel.
