3 General Safety Instructions Read this manual thoroughly before first use and keep it in a safe place for future reference, along with the completed warranty card, purchase receipt and carton. The safety precautions enclosed herein reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and injury when correctly adhered to. Environment: Do not use this product where it is excessively hot, cold, dusty or humid, or where it is exposed to strong magnetic fields or long periods of sunshine. Water: Do not expose this device to water; do not use it where it can fall into water (such as near a pool, pond, bath etc.). Handling: Do not drop this product or shake it vigorously to avoid damaging it. Volume: Always select the appropriate volume when using the music or video function. The volume should not be too loud when using earphones. If the sound distorts, turn the volume down or turn off the device. Battery: Please note that the battery can only reach top performance level after it has been fully charged and discharged two or three times. Back-up: To avoid loss of data, we recommend always backing up any important information, especially before upgrading the hardware. We assume no liability for any damage and/or data loss due to lack of back-up. Accessories: Only use the device with the battery and micro USB cable supplied. Use of other accessories is not recommended and may cause damage to the unit and will void your warranty. Usage: Only operate the device according to the instructions in this manual. We assume no responsibility for faulty use or inappropriate handling. Usage: The equipment is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the equipment by a person responsible for their safety. Children: Supervise young children to ensure they do not play with the device inappropriately. Cleaning: Clean the housing of the device lightly with a dry or moist cotton cloth. Do not use alcohol, thinners, benzene or any other chemical cleaners. Repair: This device is a high precision electronic product. It contains no userserviceable parts inside. Do not try to dismantle, modify or repair it yourself. Damage: In case of damage, contact the after sales support line for advice. Disposal: Observe local regulations and dispose of this device appropriately for recycling. Contact your local authorities for advice on recycling facilities. 3

4 General Safety Instructions (Cont.) Maintenance Continual use of some applications will occupy much of the devices processing capacity, causing the device to heat up. If this occurs, discontinue using the device and allow it to cool down. The silicone case will protect your tablet in most cases, however it is only intended to make the product more RESISTANT to damage that might occur. Like any other portable tablet, this unit is fragile and despite the silicone protection, can be damaged by external forces such as dropping, banging or being hit by other objects. Please handle this product with care as broken screens and touch panels are not covered by warranty. Due to Android 4.2 s system management, it is no longer possible to move applications to an external SD card. It is advised that you store all media files (photos, music etc.) on an external SD card to allow for a larger capacity on the device s internal storage for apps and games. Avoid using the tablet while it is charging as this may alter the battery charging process and amend the battery life of the device. Keep the device out of direct sunlight and away from any direct source of heat. To prevent any damage to hearing, NEVER use headphones while the volume is set at an excessive level. Exposure to loud sounds for an extended period of time may cause temporary or permanent loss of hearing. If use of this device causes pain to your ears or any other part of your body, stop using immediately. In case of long period of usage, be sure to take frequent breaks. 4

6 Getting Started Micro SD Card Your 7 Kids Tablet is compatible with Class 10 micro SD cards, up to 32GB in capacity. To insert your micro SD card: Power OFF your tablet. Insert your micro SD card into the micro SD slot on the right side of the tablet, making sure the gold contacts are facing the rear of the tablet. Gently push it in until you feel a soft click. To remove the SD card, power OFF the tablet then gently push the SD card until you feel a soft click and the SD card will eject. Charging the Tablet Before using your 7 Kids Tablet for the first time, you need to fully charge the battery. Charging times will vary, depending on the energy left in the battery. To charge the device via a power adapter, simply connect the micro USB end of the micro USB cable to the tablet, and the USB end to the adapter, and plug the adapter into a power outlet. Alternatively, to charge the device via a computer, plug the USB end of the micro USB cable into a USB port on the computer, and the micro USB end into the USB port on the tablet. Ensure that your computer and the tablet are both turned ON. Charging Indications When the tablet is OFF, a charging indicator will briefly appear on the screen when the tablet is connected to a charger. When the tablet is ON, a charging symbol will appear in the notification bar when the tablet is connected to a charger. 6

7 Getting Started (Cont.) Switch ON/OFF the Device Switch ON Hold the POWER button for 3 seconds to turn the tablet ON. Switch OFF Hold the power button for 3 seconds to display the Power OFF menu. The Power OFF menu will display options to Power OFF, Restart and to put the device on Silent mode. Turn ON/OFF the Screen When in POWER ON state, press the power button to turn ON/OFF the screen. Power Saving After a period of inactivity the screen will automatically turn OFF to save battery power. This can be set using the Sleep setting in the Display menu under the Advanced Android Settings (refer to page 21). If after a long time in sleep state the screen does not turn ON, press and hold the POWER button for 10 seconds to reset the power. If the screen is OFF, press the POWER button to turn it back ON. Tablet Screen Operation Short Press Long Press Slide or Rapid Slide Hold + Drag Display Rotation When using the on-screen keyboard, opening an application or selecting items. Press and hold for several seconds on an item (such as a text box or web page link) to display the action or submenu for an item (if available). Sliding or fast sliding means vertical or horizontal drag action. When dragging, you must hold the icon with your finger and keep pressure until it reaches the desired destination. For most of the screens, the content will change between landscape and portrait mode, according to the device orientation. To lock in display rotation, go to the menu on the top right hand corner of the screen and press Auto Rotate. 7

8 Getting Started (Cont.) How to Start MoFing TM Kids Connect to Wi-Fi Slide down from the top left of the status bar and you will see the below screen. Select Wi-Fi and drag the OFF button to the right to turn the Wi-Fi ON. Select your desired Wi-Fi network and input the network password if required. 8

9 Operation MoFing TM Account Using MoFing In order to use MoFing, you need to create an account. Choose log in from the main screen and then you can choose to sign in or create new account. Select Create new account if you do not have an account on MoFing and follow the instructions. NOTE: Make sure you remember the address that you used since it is vital for the password recovery process. NOTE: We recommend that you record the following information related to your account in a separate location: MoFing account . MoFing password. Parental control password (refer to page 18). 9

Primary School: Make learning fun with educational games and course sheets. B. Study Abroad: Educational content to help your kids learn a foreign language. C. Kindergarten: Dedicated to children 2-5 years old. D. MoFing TV: Hours of child-safe videos for kids. E. Navigate: An internet browser that gives your kids access to web pages that you have provided for them. F. E-Challenge: A catalogue of quizzes and tests in different subjects such as Mathematics, Science and Language from grades 1 to 6. D E My Gift: MoFing releases gifts for members. Parents can also buy MoFing gifts for their kids. 2. Online Course: Online courses to educate your kids (coming soon). 3. Consultation: Students can ask teachers questions online (coming soon). 4. Log In: Log into your MoFing account and review Member s account. 5. Parental Control: Parents can control the use of the tablet. 6. Music: Dedicated area for your kids to listen to the music you provide. 7. Photo: Dedicated area for your kids to see the pictures you provide and the pictures they have taken. 8. Video: Dedicated area for your kids to watch the videos you provide and the videos they have taken. 10

11 Operation (Cont.) Kids App Store There are separate App Stores for the two main categories - Primary School and Kindergarten. To download applications, go to the respective App Stores. Enter the App Store to download and install applications, noting that some applications will need to be purchased for an additional cost. NOTE: You need to sign in to your MoFing account in order to install apps from the app store. Delete Applications If you want to delete an application, touch the trash icon A icon with a yellow background will then appear at the top of each application. Touch the icon above the application you want to delete. Applications Update The applications of each category are updated automatically. When an update is ready, you need to confirm this by touching the Update button on the message that will display automatically. NOTE: An internet connection is required to update applications. 11

12 Operation (Cont.) Web Apps Primary School: Open the Primary School app and select Online Apps. You will see the apps that you can access online. You can sort these apps by class, course and category. E-Challenge: This feature provides tests for different courses (Maths, English etc). You can check your childs progress by going to the My Mistakes menu. 12

13 Operation (Cont.) Kindergarten: This application is for kids aged 2-5. Select Online Lessons and select the desired category for your child. 13

14 Operation (Cont.) Favorites: If you want to add an app to your favorites, touch the icon. A heart icon with a plus will appear on the top of each application, select those you want to add to your favorites list. To Delete Favorites: Touch the icon. A little with a yellow background will appear at the top of each favorite application. Select those favorites you want to delete. 14

15 Operation (Cont.) Videos To open the Video Gallery, touch the Video icon on the home page. Navigating the Video Gallery Touch the screen and swipe from Bottom to Top and Top to Bottom to navigate through all the videos you have made available for your kids in the Video Gallery. Watching Videos Touch the video you want to watch and your device will launch the Video Player and open the selected video. You can navigate through the video via the Player Controller. Touch the Full Screen button to watch your video in full screen. Drag the small round button to the left or right to go forward and backward. Play / Pause: When a video is playing, touch to pause it. Touch again to resume. 15

Photos To open the Photo Gallery, touch the photo icon home page. on the bottom of the Navigating the Photo Gallery To view your photos, move your finger on the screen from Bottom to Top to go forward in the list of photos, or from Top to Bottom to go backwards in the list of photos. Delete Image To delete an image, touch the image to select it, and then touch again to bring up the delete option. Touch the trash icon to delete the image. 16

17 Operation (Cont.) Music To play usic, touch the Music icon and select the track you wish to play. To play the track, touch the play button in the middle of the disc. You can skip the music forward and backward by touching the right and left border of the disc. Alternatively you can drag discs from the bottom of the screen onto the play icon to change the music. 17

18 Settings Parental Control The Parental Control feature allows parents to filter content, select applications to install, set operation time limitations, and monitor overall usage. To use parental controls, you need to set a password by completing the following steps. Set Up Password In the password control section, you can choose a password to access the parental control function. In Set Password, enable Password control first, then type your new password and confirm it. If you want to change your password, just enter your old password before you enter your new one. NOTE: Make sure to remember your password, as passwords cannot be retrieved if they are forgotten. 18

Application Management With Application Management you can add apps that are available on the Android system (refer to page 21) along with apps that are installed through the Google Play Store. You can add these apps into the Primary school and Kindergarten section in the MoFing interface. Online Navigation Parents can add suitable websites for kids in Parent Settings Online Content and then kids can browse these filtered website in the Navigate section. 19

20 Settings (Cont.) Time Management In this section you can choose how long you want this device to be used each day. Time management: Set the number of hours the tablet can be used. Turn OFF from: Set the interval of hours of usage. Turn OFF at: Turn the device OFF at a preset time. Statistics The statistics setting will allow you to access and monitor the details of what your child is doing on the tablet. You can access a report with all the details from the last day, week or all the time your child has been using the tablet. 20

21 Settings (Cont.) Advanced Android Settings You can access Advanced Android Settings via this menu. Here you can amend settings such as Wireless and Networks, Device, Personal, Account and System Settings. You can touch the back button to return to the Parental control menu (pictured on previous page). Android Launcher The Android Launcher icon allows you to use this device as a normal Android tablet. You have full access to all settings and can download and install apps and perform other desired functions available on Android devices. Touch the Home Button icon to go back to the MoFing interface. NOTE: In order to use the Google Play Store, you need to login using a Gmail account. 21

22 Settings (Cont.) Documents How to Transfer Documents Via USB? In order to transfer documents to your computer via USB, connect your tablet to your computer with the cable provided in the packaging. Now your tablet should appear on your computer s list of connected devices. All of your documents can then be placed into your desired locations. Upload Music, Videos and Photos To make videos, music and photos available to your kids, you need to copy those files into the designated folders. These folders are as below: Copy music in the folder music_kids. Copy videos in the folder video_kids. Copy photos in the folder photo_kids. Delete Documents If you want to delete any documents, proceed the same way you would to delete files from your PC. Go to the related section and delete the file you want to be removed from the tablet. 22
