Wavetronix's miniature coaxial cable provides extreme flexibility and greatly extended parameters. Highly favorable electrical characteristics are exhibited, particularly a tolerance as low as ± 1/2 ohm on a characteristic impedance of 50 ohms. Important mechanical advantages include a soft copper sheath which remains crack-free even under extreme bending and vibration. Miniature cable is offered in sizes.034" to.250" in lengths up to 100'. The construction consists of a solid copper outer conductor plain or with various types of plating. Silver or tin plating is standard, however any other electroplated finish can be furnished. TFE Teflon* dielectric with inner conductors of silver plated copperweld steel or silver plated copper are standard. *Registered trademark of E.I. dupont Nemours Co. Features Impedance tolerance as low as 1/2 ohm Seamless outer conductor minimizes radiation prevents crosstalk Minimum VSWR Smooth attenuation vs frequency curve Easily formed withstands repeated flexing Small size permits use in high density areas Light weight Ease of stripping, tinning or soldering - convenient installation Minimum charge in impedance, attenuation and electrical length with changes in temperature 1

10 CABLE ASSEMBLIES Right Angle Semi-Rigid Assemblies Right angle microwave connectors are normally employed for no other reason than to minimize the distance between the mating face of the connector and the center line of the cable. With braided cable, the use of right angle connectors halves this distance. Right angle connectors are used for packaging purposes and not for performance since all right angle connectors available today interrupt the geometry of the cable in one way or another and cause impedance discontinuities. As a result, the cableconnector assembly is operationally degraded from the optimum characteristics involved with the use of a straight plug connector. Ordering Information Measure desired cable lengths from center line of connector. Contact factory for special lengths. Use base part No for silver plated outer conductor and for tin plate. Bent cable technique Cable "A" Now, due to newly-achieved cable bending techniques coupled with the availability of our new semi-rigid miniature coaxial cable, it is technically feasible to bend the cable 90 immediately at the plug entrance and achieve the basic dimensions of a right angle plug. There is minimum degradation of cable parameters. Swept Right Angle Assemblies State-of-the-art high performance units, these swept right angle assemblies use CT semi-rigid cable for the right angle bend. The SMA plugs use the cable center conductor as the center contact. All the assemblies are completely gold plated after assembly, except as noted. Typical VSWR is 1.2:1 to 18 GHz. 13 HIGH-ACCURACY DELAY LINES Accuracy: Producing highly- accurate delay lines to your specifications is a highly-developed capability at Wavetronix. These delay lines provide the superior characteristics of WaveTronix aluminum and copper-sheathed, air/ptfe dielectric coaxial cables. They can be shaped into almost any configuration required. Performance: Wavetronix delay lines consistently and uniformly meet delayaccuracy standards in the order of ±.02 nanoseconds. Built-in factors include: Broader band operation, higher temperature attenuation stability, lower attenuation per nanosecond of delay, and greater stability at microwave frequencies. Configuration: Experience amassed in WaveTronix coaxial cable configurations is applied to each custom delay line. The smallest, lightest-weight packages possible are achieved because of the proven ability to shape to a minimum practical radius of three times the sheath diameter to the center line of the bend - without mechanical or electrical distortion. Parameters: The wide range of possible delay-line characteristics is limited by frequencies from 60 Hz to 20 GHz, power from one milliwatt to many kilowatts, impedances of 50, 70, 75, 100, and 125 ohms. Work within these boundaries allows all the engineering latitude needed in areas of closely calibrated tolerances of delay. Miniaturization: New miniature WaveTronix coaxial cables add a new dimension to delay-line compactness. The cables come in five sizes,.250,.141,.086, and.047,.034, and in random lengths from 12' to 200'. Constructions consist of a silver plated, copperweld inner conductor with a Teflon dielectric and seamless copper sheath. Other plating options are available. High density delay line is approximately 5" tall. Approximately 13 feet of cable exhibit 20 nanoseconds delay.
