19 5 PHASES TO DEVELOP A EUROPEAN PROJECT Phase 1: Internal conditions in the organisation: invest in a project environment Phase 2: Continuous screening of information, preparation and detection opportunities Phase 3: Project development / Project submission: how to write a coherent EU project Phase 4: Project implementation Phase 5: Project completion

20 PHASE 1: INTERNAL CONDITIONS IN THE ORGANISATION Should my organisation step in European projects (added value?) 1. Stable organisation 2. European collaboration as strategical choice to bring innovation in your organisation 3. Invest in a project environment 4. A Europe-responsible takes care of permanent screening and proces management 5. Efficient decision-making in the internal process (quick reaction to opportunities, but also dare to postpone)

21 PHASE 2: PERMANENT SCREENING INFORMATION, PREPARATION AND DETECTION OPPORTUNITIES In which topics is your organisation interested? - First brainstorming Need for systematic screening information and detecting opportunities Information from 'Europe' is complex and diverse. Screening results in a potential project. Outcome of this phase: 'potential project' to 'project submission. So, getting the necessary elements together to apply for an EU project

22 HOW TO BRING A SYSTEM IN THE SCREENING AND DETECTION? Determine what themes / project ideas you want to develop European? Select your sources and search for the right call, an opportunity to find partners (workshop, info session, ), a partner call by another organisation (that wants to develop a EU project) Propose yourself a project idea to European partners: describe your project idea (EU program, project idea, activities / work packages expected results...) and find the right partners

23 DECIDE WHICH ROLE YOU CAN PLAY Promoter, Partner, Subcontractor, Writer of the project? Cooperate with a consultant (but: can be costfull!) and/or a more experienced partner

24 STEP TO THE NEXT PHASE By continuously screening, detection and creation of opportunities... You have found a project of a foreign partner You have spotted a call / EU program for your project idea and a number of organizations from your European network are willing to go along And it is clear who will be the promoter and who holds the pen to write the application Than you can go to phase 3: project development / project submission

25 PHASE 3: PROJECTDEVELOPMENT AND - SUBMISSION - Realise all the missing links - Convert the project into a project application... - that is complete and coherent - Some steps - Consultation with the subvention authority - Final decision on the partnership - Work package, deliverables or intellectual output, dissemination activities or events, multiplication, time line - Budget
