Tactical Communication Tactical openaccess platform supporting network enabled operations.
Your partner for tactical communication It takes the right technology, the right people and vision to maintain a leading position as an international provider of mission critical communications solutions. RUAG Defence is the Swiss specialist in tactical communication. Our strong position in the home market Switzerland and our long experience in tactical communication have enabled us to develop products and systems for the international market, which we supply and support via our partners worldwide. In our home markets we act as system integrator providing complete solutions and services for communication infrastructures. Due to this role we have a long experience in co-operation and partnerships to provide integrated solutions in fields like radio, software application integration, etc. Today these solutions form the backbone of tactical communication infrastructures that deliver the highest standards of performance and reliability demanded by national and international military, peace-keeping and crisis management operations. Our focus on communications and tactical communications experience is evermore recognized throughout the defence industry and makes us a valuable partner.
Tactical openaccess philosophy Having just open data is not always sufficient for providing deep integration. At RUAG Defence we are committed to openness with our tactical openaccess platform. It serves as a focal point for collaboration with our partners and customers. RUAG tactical communication products are compatible with other devices and other companies own systems as well as applications developed by other parties. Tactical openaccess is a managed library of proven hardware and software technologies for the realization of voice, data and video communications. The platform has been engineered with many features including the flexibility to support future extensions. The Tactical openaccess operating system is embedded in the Tactical openaccess Nodes product range. This economy of scope means more efficiency in operations, planning, training and maintenance. Principal solution RUAGs primary tactical communications offering composes a palette of IP access nodes that conform to NATO TACOMS architecture requirements for Core, Tactical Edge and Tactical Mobile Networks. The Tactical openaccess Nodes comply with military environmental specifications as well as established industry and governmental communication standards.
IP everywhere Versatile product portfolio Tactical openaccess Nodes can concurrently support multiple roles in practical military communication scenarios. They enable transparent voice and data communication between strategic, public and legacy networks while interoperability and non hierarchical networking insures effective communication at every level from inter-trooper through the squad and platoon up to the division and corps Command & Control. Tactical openaccess Nodes are dependable. They deliver the performance essential in the combat arena and fulfil the configuration demanded by battlefield units. RUAG tactical communications equipment has been field proven by several national defence forces for voice and data services, and interoperability under real day-to-day military deployment conditions. Ease of operation An integral part of the Tactical openaccess Node is a suite of network management tools, based on widely supported standards for seamless integration into existing systems. With dedicated tools for local control, Tactical openaccess Nodes are simple to configure and easy to operate, making it ideal for frequent change of personnel. Economies of scope The Tactical openaccess Node can be deployed in a variety of roles, or multi-role, and conforms to NATO TACOMS architecture requirements. This multi-function capability offers not only unit economy but vital flexibility that ensures rapid network architecture changes or relocations. Interoperability and legacy integration Tactical openaccess Nodes meet tactical networks requirements for access points towards radio networks and other external networks. Moreover, they provide backward compatibility to legacy military systems and support gateway functions for Eurocom to VoIP, Eurocom over IP as well as IP streaming over Eurocom. RUAG tactical communication solutions assure investment protection of legacy radio relay and microwave communication equipment.
Tactical openaccess product platform Compliant with military standards, the Tactical openaccess Platform is composed of four products that can be adapted to the needs of defence organizations missions. TAN T The Tactical openaccess Node T is a ruggedized military-grade communication network access node with integrated routing functionality. It is optimized for connecting heterogeneous networks. TAN R The Tactical openaccess Node R is an integrated voice and data switch with a form-factor optimally designed for space/weight-constrained military vehicles and ground mobile deployments. TLS The Tactical LAN Switch has been constructed for harsh environments. Equipped with a complete range of network features, with 20-plus Fast Ethernet ports and up to 4 Power over Erthernet ports, it provides hundreds of thousands service-free hours. TPS The Tactical Power Supply Unit enables uninterruptable and emissionfree supply for communication equipment in vehicles, remote stations and containers.
Key capabilities and operational highlights Voice and data integration Tactical openaccess Nodes deliver secure IP-based voice, data, and video communications as well as advanced tactical radio integration for HF and VHF and data capabilities. Other advanced functionality includes IP-unicast and bandwidth efficient IP multicast routing over multiple subnets. Next generation wireless readiness At the heart of many emerging military wireless communications systems are software defined Radio and Packet Radio technologies, including commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) technologies, such as WLAN, 3G and 4G/LTE. Tactical openaccess Nodes can easily integrate these. Data routing and priority functions Quality of Service (QoS) based Traffic Prioritization Tactical openaccess Nodes allow for QoS level routing based on criteria as source and destination port. Mobility of telephony services and accessibility of users Mobility is an essential attribute. Existing links to users, terminals and nodes may outdate and need to re-establish automatically as users or vehicles move. RUAG provides call-route discovery and auto affiliation algorithms that support user, terminal and node mobility in semi-mobile meshed networks including low bandwidth tactical radio systems. In addition, Tactical openaccess Nodes offer Tactical Telephony Services (TTEL), allowing users to be accessible by all other users in the tactical network regardless of their physical position. This feature allows building a distributed telephony system, whereby the directory can be decentralized and support full user and subnet mobility with ease of configuration. Product compactness With compact volumes and reduced weight, Tactical openaccess Nodes present optimal ratios of performance and functionality over size in the market. Priority levels may be assigned to voice calls, depending on user role and manual priority selection such as emergency call.
Tactical openaccess node features General features Strictly non hierarchical deployable system Meshed network topology Virtual LAN (VLAN) topology support Support for heterogeneous communication systems Configuration and system management Web based single node management GUI Operational picture representing a decentralized network management and monitoring system for TAN networks Customer specific configuration MIL Standards Virtual Private Networks (VPN) support with strong encryption and customer specific ciphers IP over EUROCOM, VoIP to EUROCOM gateway Radio features Any radio technologies upon request; PR4G VHF / HF supported (SYCOMORE and transparent data port) Real time transmission of most recent messages Voice features Automated soft PBX / call-manager with SIP Typical interfaces: VoIP (SIP, H.323), EUROCOM, PMR and tactical radio voice interfaces, VoWiFi, PSTN/ISDN (G.703 / 704, EuroISDN Q.931, CCS, CAS signalling), SHDSL HW TDMA support Header compression TDMA monitoring / connectivity status via SNMP TETRA / TETRAPOL on request Coding: G.711 a-/u-law (PCM), G.729, G.723, GSM codecs, EUROCOM delta coding ROIP, voice call to/from radio devices Conference call Extended environmental conditions Ruggedized products available, according to MIL-STD 810G and MIL-STD 461F standards.
