1 Rainforest ecosystems are important to animals and people. by Hannah Jacobi Introduction Rainforest are pretty important because without them people and animals could die. People in the rainforest are like indians. Over time trees get cut down then that is less food for the Indians and less resources for the animals in the rainforest. When animals start to become almost extinct and their only enough of that animal to help the food chain going. People hunt the animals just for fun than 20 animals could be gone forever. In the rainforest it is like a home to 1,000 types of animals and without a rainforest for the animals then they could all die. Rainforest ecosystems are important because animals and people need them because each layer of the rainforest is different from each other which can help animals. Their are some rainforests that have different weather and the plants and animals are all connected to a food chain with each other and their could be rainforest ecosystems that are in danger because people cut down trees. That is why

What the layers are to animals Rainforest ecosystems are important to people and animals because each layer of the rainforest is different which helps animals. For example the forest floor has a different ecosystem because it is dark so the animals can t eat plants. Instead they eat fish by a lake or they climb up a tree and try to find food. Some animals can t climb trees so they find stuff on the ground to eat. Another example is the understory ecosystem which is a little bit different then the forest floor because the understory can get sun light. The understory has a few plants and is between the forest floor and the canopy. Some animals that live in the canopy or the forest floor go to that ecosystem. The canopy ecosystem has many plants,fruit,and wild life so the birds the monkeys and insects live their. So there's lots of food that the animals can

3 eat because their is a lot of sun light. That is why each layer of the rainforest has a different ecosystem. Weather in the rainforest The rainforest ecosystems are important to people and animals because each rainforest has it s own weather. For example if you go to a tropical rainforest it will rain a lot so more things grow like fruit,nuts,plants,and trees. Another example is if you go to a place that is cold and there is a rainforest. Then it might snow so their no plants growing in that rainforest and not that many animals. Another example is a change season rainforest where it is hot then cold and lots of animals go to a different place so they don t die. That is why the weather in the rainforest is important to people and animals. Food chains in the rainforest The rainforest ecosystem is important to people and animals because all the living things are connected to a food chain. For example if a tree get burned it could mess up growth of other trees. Then all the animals in the rainforest could be in danger. Another example is if their is something that gets added to the ecosystem like if there

4 were fish that eat krill and you added more fish than all the krill would be gone and then the fish will be hungry and then die then when the animals eat the fish. Another example is when animals can go in the understory to get food. Another example is the canopy start being extinct then all the thing that need that animal will start to die. Then before you know it 20 animals could be gone. That is why rain forest are important to humans and animals. And living things connected to a food chain. Why rainforest are in danger Rainforest ecosystems are important to people and animals because some rainforest are in danger because people cut down trees. For example their are people that live near rainforest and need the land for growing crops. Hundreds of trees are killed almost every six months. People burn the trees so when they plant a crop then it won t grow and messes up the soil. Another example is when people cut down trees then some plants can t grow. It is important because without the plants then we will not have medicine when we are sick. Another example

5 is without trees it would dangerous because trees give us air. Animals will start to become extinct then the world s ecosystem will be messed up. Another example is sometimes when a tree gets cut down usually a little plant called a sproutling grows where trees fall. When too many trees get cut down or burned then the sproutling might not grow. That is why rainforest ecosystems are in danger because people cut down the trees. Conclusion Rainforest ecosystems are important to people and animals because their is different ecosystems in layers of the rainforest. There's different weather in rainforest ecosystems each animal has a different food chain and rainforests are in danger. That is why rainforest ecosystems are important to people and animals. 6 Glossary Forest floor- a layer of a Rainforest that is on the ground The Understory- a layer that is between the canopy and the forest floor Canopy- a layer in the trees were animals some animals never touch the ground. Indians- people that only use the outside to live. Medicine- something that helps you feel better when you are sick or when you have a cut Extinct- a animal or a plant that is gone for ever Sproutling- a small little tree that grows where a tree got cut down. Food chain- a cycle that goes on for ever unless something disrupts the food chain
