2 This unique and original project focuses on the world-famous Danish author and his journeying through Portugal in It is an initiative that allows participants to experience Portugal through the eyes of Hans Christian Andersen. This tour follows in the footsteps of the Father of fairy-tales based on the diary he wrote during his visit to this picturesque pearl of Southern Europe. Hans Christian Andersen was already quite famous when he came to Portugal at the invitation of his friends, José and Jorge O Neill, whose father was Danish Consul in Portugal. Travelling across the Iberian Peninsula, Andersen was completely enchanted with the beauty of Portugal. His trip took him to Lisbon, Palmela, Setúbal, Aveiro, Coimbra and to Sintra, with which he fell in love. The Hans Christian Andersen Tour in Portugal offers a visit to all the above mentioned cities; an insight into Portugal and its gastronomy; and a rich artistic programme, including a personal mini-guide with Andersen s observation and quotations about all these magnificent places. In May 2015 we will all meet in Denmark for a wonderful IB weekend! In early December we can get together again in the spa-town of Curia in Portugal, first for a happy weekend of dancing and then some tourism, following in the footsteps of the Danish writer, who loved visiting Portugal. What a year!
