4 Minimum System Requirements Recommended settings for installation and use of the Honda Diagnostic Software The Honda Diagnostic System software has been designed to run on the most popular versions of the Microsoft Windows operating systems. While unable to test all possible configurations, there are things that can be done to enable a smooth installation and use of the HDS software. Minimum PC Requirements Microsoft Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 3, Windows Vista Business or Windows Vista Home Premium, or Windows 7 Professional. Windows NT 4.0, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, and Windows 2000 are no longer supported. Hard disk drive with at least 2 GB of free space. USB or Ethernet port x 768 color quality video resolution. 512 Kbps internet download transfer speed. Keyboard & Mouse. 1
5 HDM Installation Procedure Following these recommended procedures will better ensure the smooth installation and operation of the Honda Diagnostic System software Installation Preparation 1. Quit all other running programs. 2. Turn off your screen saver. 3. Disconnect the MVCI interface from your PC (if connected) 4. Verify that your internet connection is working. Installation of HDS Download Manager 1. Download the HDS Download Manager from the internet and save the installer to your desktop. 2. Download from 3. Double-click the setup.exe file to begin the installation of the HDS Download Manager 4. When prompted for your username and password, use the Service Express username and password that the software license was purchased under. 5. Once the installation of the Honda Download Manager is complete, the most current version of the Honda Diagnostic System software will begin downloading to your pc. 2
6 HDS Installation Procedure Installation of the Honda Diagnostic System (HDS) Software 1. When Prompted answer yes to the Independent Dealer Question. 2. Enter the passcode that was provided in your confirmation to continue the installation. 3. During the Honda Extension installation you will be prompted for an Installation Type. Choose Independent Repair Facility 4. When requested, enter your Service Express Username and Password. a. IMPORTANT: If this portion of the install fails you will be unable to install your license and use the Honda Diagnostic System software. 5. You can now start your HDS session by Double-Clicking the Diagnostic System Icon that has been installed on your desktop. 3
7 Installing Your License You will need to do this at least once before using your HDS Software License Installation Procedure 1. Verify that you have an active internet connection. 2. Connect your MVCI to a vehicle (any Honda/Acura will work) 3. Launch the HDS Software using the Diagnostic System Icon on your desktop. 4. Click the Connect to Vehicle Icon to begin a new vehicle session. 5. Enter your Service Express Credentials in the right pane and click the Log On button. You will need to populate the vehicle information in the left panel before the right panel will appear. 6. Once the login successful prompt has been displayed, your HDS Software License has been installed and is ready for use. 4
