6 6 Asbestos Medicine Seminar G E N E R A L I N F O R M AT I O N CLE ACCREDITATION This seminar has been approved for MCLE credit by the State Bar of California in the amount of 14.5 hours, including 1 hour of ethics credit. Accreditation has been requested from every state with mandatory continuing legal education (CLE) requirements. Certificates of attendance will be provided to each attendee. Attendees are responsible for obtaining CLE credits from their respective states. Credit availability and requirements vary from state to state; please check our website at org for credit information for your state. REGISTRATION The registration fee is $745 for members and those who join DRI when registering and $975 for nonmembers. The registration fee includes CD-ROM course materials, continental breakfasts, refreshment breaks and networking receptions. If you wish to have your name appear on the registration list distributed at the conference and receive the course materials in advance, DRI must receive your registration by October 21, 2011 (please allow 10 days for processing). Registrations received after October 21, 2011, will be processed on-site. IN-HOUSE COUNSEL In-house counsel are eligible for free registration to DRI seminars. In-house counsel are defined as licensed attorneys, who are employed exclusively by a corporation or other private sector organization, for the purpose of providing legal representation and counsel only to that corporation, its affiliates and subsidiaries. In order to qualify for free registration, the individual must also be a DRI member and a member of DRI s Corporate Counsel Committee. Offer excludes DRI Annual Meeting. Barrett, M.D., FACR, is a radiologist and an adjunct clinical professor of radiology, teaching at Tufts Medical Center and Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. Board certified in diagnostic radiology and nuclear medicine and a certified B Reader, he teaches courses in radiologic disciplines to radiologists, pulmonary physicians and occupational medical doctors. Dr. Barrett has taught at the Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Public Health. Thomas A. Bickers is a partner in Paine Tarwater and Bickers LLP, which has offices in Knoxville, Tennessee, and Austin, Texas. He has represented different entities named in asbestos personal injury suits since Mr. Bickers has served as lead trial counsel for clients since 1995 and has served as lead trial counsel in asbestos cases in more than 20 states. Hilary C. Bonenberger is an associate in the Pittsburgh office of Swartz Campbell LLC, where she dedicates the majority of her practice to representing product manufacturers and industrial contractors in the defense of toxic tort related claims. Cameron, M.D., FACS, is the director of the mesothelioma program at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles, and the chief of thoracic surgery at the West Los Angeles Veteran s Administration Medical Center. He is a board certified cardiothoracic surgeon and surgical oncologist. Dr. Cameron has published numerous abstracts and articles in the field of thoracic surgery and surgical oncology. Nina Lynn Caroselli, an attorney with extensive experience in the insurance industry and private litigation practice, joined the run-off team for RiverStone Claims Management LLC in Manchester, New Hampshire, as senior attorney focusing on asbestos, pollution and health hazard claims. In 2008, she advanced to senior vice president and director of direct and assumed claims. Evelyn Fletcher Davis is a partner at Hawkins Parnell Thackson & Young LLP in its Atlanta office. She is one of the nation s leading asbestos, silica, benzene and product liability defense lawyers, with a strong presence in the Alabama, Florida and Georgia jurisdictions. Ms. Davis is a recognized expert in toxic tort litigation and frequent speaker on environmental claims. She is the DRI Southeast Regional Director and the program chair for this seminar. Lloyd Dixon, Ph.D., is a senior economist at the RAND Corporation in Santa Monica, California, with expertise on insurance, compensation and liability issues. In addition to work on asbestos bankruptcy trusts, he has examined the abuse of expert evidence in silica litigation, the impacts of the 1995 Daubert decision, and the complex web of insurance, charity, government and tort payments that provided assistance to individuals and businesses following the 9/11 attacks. Bradley Drew is a managing director at PACE Claims Services in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, a subsidiary of Navigant. Mr. Drew has 20 years of experience consulting for defendants, insurers and legal counsel involved in asbestos and other mass tort litigation. He has developed industry-wide claims databases that allow for a unique view of the underlying litigation. C. Michael Evert, Jr., is a founding partner at the Atlanta office of Evert Weathersby Houff in Atlanta. Since the 1980s, he has had experience as a lead trial counsel, a complex settlement negotiator and an overall strategist in toxic tort cases on behalf of various clients. Mr. Evert currently serves as national coordinating counsel for a number of companies in the asbestos litigation. John M. Fitzpatrick, senior partner at Wheeler Trigg O Donnell LLP in Denver, has a reputation as the go to trial lawyer for national clients in high exposure cases. Mr. Fitzpatrick has tried in excess of 200 cases to verdict in over 30 states. His specialties include medical malpractice, product liability, asbestos and medical devices. Raymond R. Fournie is a senior partner at Armstrong Teasdale LLP in St. Louis and has been involved in defending asbestos cases for the past 23 years, primarily in Madison County, Illinois. He served as national trial counsel for a principle asbestos defendant, trying cases throughout the country. Mr. Fournie has taken 18 asbestos cases to verdict. Lisa D. Frasco is in-house counsel with the Special Liability Group of Travelers. Ms. Frasco advises the company on toxic tort issues, including asbestos claims, that

9 November 10 11, arise nationwide and works closely with claim account executives to manage litigation brought against Travelers s policyholders. It is this litigation management component that places Ms. Frasco in daily contact with national coordinating, trial and local counsel around the country. Sharla J. Frost, the managing partner of Powers & Frost LLP in Houston, has been successfully defending asbestos defendants in troubling jurisdictions for over 20 years. She brings experience and insight to high risk asbestos trials. Recognized as one of the country s foremost trial lawyers, Ms. Frost actively defends clients in courtrooms nationwide. Catherine E. Goldhaber, a partner at Segal McCambridge Singer & Mahoney Ltd. in Chicago, defends clients as trial and national counsel through prelitigation, discovery and verdict. Ms. Goldhaber represents clients in toxic torts, premises and product liability as well as commercial disputes. She has regularly been retained to consult on Medicare Secondary Payer Act issues. She is licensed in Illinois, Michigan and numerous federal courts. Michael A. Graham, M.D., is a professor of pathology at St. Louis University School of Medicine in St. Louis, where he codirects the division of forensic and environmental pathology. Dr. Graham also serves as the chief medical examiner for the city of St. Louis. He is certified by the American Board of Pathology in anatomic, clinical and forensic pathology. For the past 20 years, Dr. Graham has served as an expert in asbestos-related matters. Laura K. Hong, a partner at Squire Sanders & Dempsey (US) LLP in Cleveland, Ohio, is a trial lawyer with extensive experience serving as national, special projects and trial counsel for several companies. She has tried several cases before juries to verdict, has arbitrated before the AAA and was featured in The American Lawyer s Big Suits. Ms. Hong s testimony supporting Ohio s asbestos medical criteria bill helped shape that legislation and is cited in its legislative history. Edward R. Hugo, a partner at the California firm of Brydon Hugo & Parker, defends product liability, toxic tort and environmental actions, with an emphasis on asbestos and silica personal injury, wrongful death and property damage cases. He has extensive first chair trial experience representing target defendants and has tried a variety of cases to defense verdict. Mr. Hugo serves as national trial counsel, coordinating counsel, regional counsel and local counsel for a variety of clients, from Fortune 100 companies to neighborhood hardware stores. Anita M. Kidd is a partner in Armstrong Teasdale LLP s litigation group in St. Louis. She has handled thousands of cases alleging exposure to asbestos, primarily in Madison County, Illinois. As a former registered nurse, she deals with medical issues related to asbestos exposure a vital component in the defense of toxic tort litigation. Ms. Kidd is admitted to practice in Missouri, Illinois and California. Glenna M. Kyle is a senior attorney in toxic tort and environmental litigation with ExxonMobil. She holds both a J.D. and a Ph.D. in pharmacology/toxicology. She has extensive litigation experience, both with ExxonMobil and in her prior work as a litigation associate. Ms. Kyle has numerous publications in both scientific and legal literature. Jack Laffey, a shareholder in the Milwaukee office of Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek SC, focuses his practice on product liability, transportation litigation, toxic tort, catastrophic injury defense and insurance and commercial litigation matters. Mr. Laffey is a member of DRI s Law Institute and is a former chair of DRI s Trucking Law Committee. Jonathan M. Lively is a partner in the Chicago office of Segal McCambridge Singer & Mahoney Ltd. His practice focuses on defending corporations in toxic tort, product liability and premises liability matters. In addition to his practice in the courts of Illinois and Indiana, Mr. Lively acts as national trial counsel for clients involved in asbestos litigation and appears in courts across the country on their behalf. Jayme C. Long is a partner in McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP s Los Angeles office. Ms. Long s practice is concentrated in complex civil litigation with a primary focus on toxic torts, premises liability and product liability. Ms. Long, a DRI member, represents numerous companies in the petrochemical, construction, maritime and automotive industries.
