4 When increasing competitiveness, emphasis has to be put on quality, and the shift towards innovation is a must. 5 Europe 2020 Strategy - Europe needs to reform national and regional R&D and innovation Cooperation between universities, research and business, implement joint programming in EU After financial crisis - innovation, research and development are becoming increasingly important to avoid similar crises in the future Innovation Union - aims to optimize synergies between and within different EU, national and regional policies, and ensure greater involvement of all stakeholders in the innovation process

6 Clusters are essential tools in order to achieve EU2020 and Innovation Union targets (25 accredited clusters operate in Hungary, DBH Group is member of 2 of them) - where science, education, innovation and business meet 7th Framework Programme - development of research driven clusters in EU - Between , 4% of Structural Funds were dedicated to research - From 2007 to 2013, it has increased up to 25%

7 Mission: To catalyse innovation in EU Knowledge Triangle The regulation establishing the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) came into force in The EIT is the EU's flagship education institute designed to assist innovation, research and growth in the European Union. The EIT Headquarters are located in Budapest, INFOPARK and operate since April Although there are excellent European education and research institutions, they are often rather isolated from the business world and do not obtain the "critical mass" necessary for innovation. 10 The Hungarian Association for Innovation is the ambassador of the Hungarian business community with 638 members Established in 1990 Aim: to promote the creation, spread, transfer, adoption and the practical utilization of intellectual products increasing the impact of the member companies on governmental innovation policy helping technology transfer to contribute to the improvement of economic results; using a financing system as an incentive for creating innovative results

11 increasing the number and value of intellectual products created and utilized in Hungary having intellectual products, primarily the results of domestic innovation realized as products to a greater extent having those who create and utilize the results of innovation protected and supported by legal regulations allowing outstanding innovative achievements to have wide-ranging recognition.

12 Flanders is a very important partner of Hungary (market share of direct neighbour Austria 5,54 %, Flanders 2,02 %) The Flemish export in volume increased by 12.2% between Market share and volume of trade between Hungary and Flanders is increasing in spite of the crisis (export to Hungary in ,2 bn, ,34 bn, market share of Flanders in Hungary ,92%, ,02 %) Composition of Flemish export: dominant product groups are pharma, means of transport, machines Economic situation in Hungary is improving (Fitch has recently upgraded the country from negative to stable ) June 6, 2011
