TIDDLYWINKS for small children and their carers meet each Monday morning at 9.30 am in the hall during term time. PALS for those of more mature years is held on the first Monday each month in the hall at 2.30 p.m. 2

The Greeting Prayer of Preparation As we prepare ourselves for this time of worship let us pray, please sit or kneel for prayer Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hidden: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name; through Christ our Lord. Our Lord Jesus Christ said: The first commandment is this: Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is the only Lord. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' The second is this: 'Love your neighbour as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Lord, have mercy. Prayers of Penitence 3

4 We confess our sin, and the sins of our society, in the misuse of God's creation. Confession God our Father, we are sorry for the times when we have used your gifts carelessly, and acted ungratefully. Hear our prayer, and in your mercy: forgive us and help us. We enjoy the fruits of the harvest, but sometimes forget that you have given them to us. Father, in your mercy: forgive us and help us. We belong to a people who are full and satisfied, but ignore the cry of the hungry. Father, in your mercy: forgive us and help us. We are thoughtless, and do not care enough for the world you have made. Father, in your mercy: forgive us and help us. We store up goods for ourselves alone, as if there were no God and no heaven. Father, in your mercy: forgive us and help us. Almighty God, who forgives all who truly repent, have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver you from all your sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness, and keep you in life eternal; through Jesus Christ our Lord. I believe in God the Saviour, Son of Man and Lord most high, Crucified to be redeemer, Raised to life that death may die. I believe in God the Spirit, Wind of heaven and flame of fire, Pledge of all that we inherit, Sent to comfort and inspire. Honour, Glory, Might and Merit Be to God and God alone! 7 please stand The Peace The harvest of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. cf Galatians 5.22,23 The peace of the Lord be always with you. And also with you. Let us share this spiritual harvest with one another: We offer Christ s peace to one another. Offertory Hymn (during which the bread and wine and gifts of money for the work of the church are received ) The Preparation of the Table As the grain once scattered in the fields and the grapes once dispersed on the hillside are now reunited on this table in bread and wine, so, Lord, may your whole Church soon be gathered together from the corners of the earth into your kingdom. The Lord is here. His Spirit is with us. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give thanks and praise. please sit or kneel And now we give you thanks because all things are of your making, all times and seasons obey your laws, but you have chosen to create us in your own image, setting us over the whole world in all its wonder. 7

8 You have made us stewards of your creation, to praise you day by day for the marvels of your wisdom and power: so earth unites with heaven to sing the new song of creation: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. We praise and bless you, loving Father, through Jesus Christ, our Lord; and as we obey his command, send your Holy Spirit, that broken bread and wine outpoured may be for us the body and blood of your dear Son. On the night before he died he had supper with his friends and, taking bread, he praised you. He broke the bread, gave it to them and said: Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of me. When supper was ended he took the cup of wine. Again he praised you, gave it to them and said: Drink this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me. So, Father, we remember all that Jesus did, in him we plead with confidence his sacrifice made once for all upon the cross. Bringing before you the bread of life and cup of salvation, we proclaim his death and resurrection until he comes in glory. 8

9 Great is the mystery of faith: Christ has died: Christ is risen: Christ will come again. Lord of all life, help us to work together for that day when your kingdom comes and justice and mercy will be seen in all the earth. Look with favour on your people, gather us in your loving arms and bring us with [St Margaret, St Mary, St Michael] and all the saints to feast at your table in heaven. Through Christ, and with Christ, and in Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honour and glory are yours, O loving Father, For ever and ever. The Lord s Prayer As our Saviour taught us, so we pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and for ever. 9

10 Breaking of the Bread We break this bread to share in the body of Christ. Though we are many, we are one body, because we all share in one bread. God's holy gifts for God's holy people. Jesus Christ is holy, Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Giving of Communion Prayer of Humble Access We do not presume to come to this your table, merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness, but in your manifold and great mercies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under your table. But you are the same Lord whose nature is always to have mercy. Grant us therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the flesh of your dear Son Jesus Christ and to drink his blood, that our sinful bodies may be made clean by his body and our souls washed through his most precious blood, and that we may evermore dwell in him, and he in us. The Sacrament is Received Please come to the altar rail either to receive your communion or a special harvest blessing. 11 Prayer after Communion Lord of the harvest, with joy we have offered thanksgiving for your love in creation and have shared in the bread and the wine of the kingdom: by your grace plant within us a reverence for all that you give us and make us generous and wise stewards of the good things we enjoy; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Almighty God, we thank you for feeding us with the body and blood of your Son Jesus Christ. Through him we offer you our souls and bodies to be a living sacrifice. Send us out in the power of your Spirit to live and work to your praise and glory. Hymn please stand Blessing God the Father, who created the world, give you grace to be wise stewards of his creation. God the Son, who redeemed the world, inspire you to go out as labourers into his harvest. God the Holy Spirit, whose breath fills the whole of creation, help you to bear his fruits of love, joy and peace. And the blessing ¼ Dismissal Freely you have received, freely give!
