2 Executive Summary Danfoss is the leading total supplier to the District Heating and Cooling Market and provides customers worldwide with a complete range of automatic controls, heat exchangers, domestic hot water systems and substations. Today the tendency on the markets is to favour pre fabricated substations for heating/cooling and domestic hot water appliances compared to build on site solutions. 4 Large parallel system with instantaneous heat exchanger In parallel systems the district heating supply water flow rate is split up into room heating and DHW supply system. The DHW system is an instantaneous system without a buffer or a storage. This systems are very dynamic, therefore the requirement to the control equipment in this system is very high.

5 Pre fabricated substations (1/2) Features A pre fabricated substation is a complete product designed, tested according to control, flow as well as heat transfer requirements Plug and heat functionality Thereby the pre fabricated substations (with multi functional controls) reduce installation cost/time. The substation is a complete delivery, ready for use after installation Compact construction, designed for easy access to components (service, maintenance). Reduction of the demand for space of the heating installation > space, which is often expensive, can be used for other purposes Control functions optimized according to the design of the substation Serial and automated production, which ensures a consistently high and stable quality level as well as overall cost reductions Renovation of the heating installation/substation can be made during the winter season, with a minimum of interruption of the system

This guarantees a high quality level and proves that the substation is factory tested Full warranty given by supplier/producer Only one service partner for the customer Complete documentation for all components is supplied together with the substation, incl. user manuals enabling easy installation and commissioning Even customized substations is partly pre fabricated (e.g. pre fabricated pipe elements) Possible downsides: Transportation can be demanding (must be considered in the design phase)
