2 2 Introduction This document describes the basic configuration settings for the CA300 on wired or wireless networks. If you are not the local IT or network administrator, we recommend you contact one before adding or modifying devices on your network infrastructure. System overview

3 3 Requirements To configure the Avizia CA300 to your network, you will need: A computer (Windows 7/8 or Mac OS X) with a web browser and an Ethernet port (Other popular operating systems have not been tested but should also work.) Avizia CA300 The following items come with the CA300 System: Power cord Network cable Quick start guide Static IP address, subnet mask, gateway, domain name, and domain server address (if static addressing are used). For more information on setting a static IP address, please reference the Cisco TelePresence Video Systems Getting Started Guide for the SX20 codec: Network infrastructure credentials for your Wi- Fi infrastructure (SSID, pre-shard key, etc.). Overview of the CA300 Network Module The Network Module for the CA300 is built into the console of the system. It contains both a Wi-Fi 2.4GHz IEEE b/g/n Client Bridge and a Gigabit switch. The Network Module provides network connectivity to the internal components of the CA300, as well as a user provided laptop, or an optionally user supplied small form factor PC. The system is connected to the network infrastructure either by Ethernet cable or via Wi-Fi.

4 4 Connecting to a Wired Network Simply connect the provided network cable to the LAN and the Ethernet port on the CA300. The Ethernet port is found under the work surface, left side (from front). NOTE: The Wi-Fi radio will be disabled when the system detects an active wired Ethernet connection. If the LAN has a DHCP service, the system will retrieve a DHCP IP address, which will be displayed in the upper left hand corner of the display. 5 5 Connecting to Wireless Network Make sure there is no active wired LAN connection to CA300. NOTE: The Wi-Fi radio in the console will be disabled if it detects an active network connection via Ethernet. Remove the Ethernet cable to turn the Wi-Fi radio on. Accessing the Network Module Web Interface 1. Connect a network cable between the console network port and a laptop computer. 2. Set the static IP address on the computer to and Subnet Mask Gateway address is not required. NOTE: The following network settings are temporary for CA300 Network Module configuration. We recommend that you note your laptop s current network settings, and when you are finished with network configuration, you should revert your computer to its prior configuration. to laptop On a Windows PC a. Open Control Panel window. b. Double click on Network and Sharing Center (Win7) or Network & Internet then Network and Sharing Center (Win8). c. Click on Wi-Fi Connection. In the wireless Status Window, click Disable and then Close. d. Click on Local Area Connection (Win7) or Access Type Connection: Ethernet Link (Win8). e. Click on Properties (Administrator access required). f. Double click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IP/IPv4). g. Check Use the following IP address. h. Enter the mentioned static IP Address and Subnet Mask in Step 2 above. i. Click OK j. Click OK k. Click Close l. Close the PC s Network and Sharing Center. On a Mac a. Open System Preferences window. b. Click Network c. In left sidebar, select Wi-Fi and click Turn Wi-Fi Off in the right pane. d. In left sidebar, select an existing Ethernet profile, or add (+) a new Ethernet profile and select it. e. In the right-hand pane, use the Configure IPv4 drop-down to select Manually. f. Enter the static IP Address ( ) and Subnet Mask ( ). Router address is not needed. g. Click Apply h. Close the window.

Open a new web browser window (IE9 or higher, Firefox, Chrome, or Safari) and enter the following IP address in the browser s address bar: Login to the Network Module configuration interface: admin/admin 5. The Network Module information page is displayed. 6. The icons in the upper right hand corner will navigate to the following locations: Home Brings you back to the opening page Wizard Takes you to the Setup Wizard page Network Settings Presents Manual Configuration settings Language Set Language Logout Logout of the web interface 7. Click on the Wizard icon.

7 7 8. In the Setup Your Operation Mode window, select Client Bridge Mode and click Next. 9. The Avizia Setup Wizard will appear and will guide you through the settings for connecting to a Wi-Fi network. Navigate through the setup wizard using Prev (previous page) and Next (next setup step). Clicking Network Setting will bypass the wizard for manual setup (advanced users). 10. Click Next 11. The Network Module will conduct a Site Survey and present a list of the nearby access points. 12. Select the appropriate access point (AP) from the list and click Next at the bottom of the list.

8 8 13. Enter the selected network s credentials to connect to the AP (User login, pre-shared key/password). The Network Module will automatically populate the Network Name (SSID, if broadcasting) and the encryption of WEP, WPA Preshared key, and WPA RADIUS. Check with your IT/Network administrator for the wireless security settings. 14. Click Next. 15. You are now asked to enter a new password to access the Network Module. Click Skip and the username and password will remain admin/admin. Or, enter a new password and click Next. Make a note of the new password to access the Network Module in the future. Both the username and password can be changed in the advanced settings pages: NETWORK SETTINGS > TOOLS > ADMIN. 16. Click Next. 17. The default is set to Dynamic IP and is recommended for typical wireless connections. If specific network configurations are required, select Static IP to enter the pertinent IP addresses. Check with your IT/Network administrator for network settings. 18. Click Next.

9 9 19. Verify and save your settings, or edit if needed. Click Save and the Network Module will reboot to save your settings. The CA300 Network Module will connect to the wireless infrastructure if all settings are correct. This will be indicated by the CA300 and any connected computer each being assigned a DHCP IP address, or access from an assigned static IP on the CA300, from the network infrastructure. 20. Login page will appear; login in with admin/admin. If you had previously changed the login password, use those credentials. 21. Once login is achieved, the Network Module information page is displayed. You may now disconnect the Ethernet cable from your laptop to the CA300. NOTE: Be sure to return your laptop s network settings to its previous configuration. NOTE: The Passive Client may need to be enabled on certain Wi-Fi infrastructures controlled by a Cisco Wireless LAN Controller to ensure that DHCP traffic flows correctly. To set this option on the Cisco WLC, model 2504 with software version : a. Login to the WLAN Controller through its web interface. b. Click on the WLANs tab at the top of the webpage. c. Click on WLAN ID number of the WLAN that you want the bridge to connect to. d. Click on the Advanced tab. e. Scroll down to Passive Client (right side) and check the box. f. 10 10 Network Settings The following sections describe the Network Settings navigation and menu items for obtaining network information, manual configuration, and managing network configurations. Network settings can be accessed by clicking on the Gear icon in the System Information page or by clicking on the Network Settings button through the Setup Wizard. Home Brings you back to the opening page Wizard Takes you to the Setup Wizard page Network Settings Presents Manual Configuration settings Language Set Language Logout Logout of the web interface

11 11 NOTE: Tips are displayed on the right-hand side of the settings pages explaining the settings. System Status Overall System Status of the Network Module, LAN settings, Client Bridge Wireless Information. Operation Mode Selection of modes: Client Bridge Mode or AP Mode. LAN Network mode switch ports setting of Dynamic IP (DHCP) or Static IP and enabled/disable 802.1d Spanning Tree (Default = Disabled) Log System information and Syslog server settings. Monitor Traffic flow for LAN and WAN. Language Change the Language in the web interface of the Network Module.

12 12 Wireless Basic Wireless Settings and Site Survey list (similar to the setup wizard). Advanced Fragment Threshold (default = 2346) for setting the packet size for each fragment. RTS Threshold (default = 2347) for when the packet size is smaller than the RTS threshold, then the packet will be sent without RTS/CTS handshake. Tx Power (default = 100%) for how strong the wireless signal will be. WPS Not Used AP Profile A list of up to three access points/ssids that the Network Module can connect to. There can be three AP profiles that can be set by priority. The client bridge will look for the first AP and move down the list for an available network. Example: Two locations with different wireless networks. The wireless setting of both locations can be entered into the client bridge and when moved to either location, the system would automatically switch to the correct AP and connect. NOTE: The Network Module client bridge can only connect to one AP at a time. NOTE: Only three AP profiles can be stored and listed in the Network Module. If a different AP profile is required other than the three listed, edit one of the existing profiles for the new AP, or delete one of the profiles before entering a new one.

Back-up - Restore factory defaults to Network Module, Backup settings (save configuration) and Restore Settings. Reboot Resets the Network Module.

14 14 Firmware Upgrade Connect a laptop to the system and login to the Network Module as described in the Connecting to the Network section. Once you are logged in to the Network Module the information page is displayed. The current firmware version is displayed on the left side of the page. CA300 Network Module firmware updates are available for download from NOTE: We recommend you back-up the existing Network Module configuration before upgrading the firmware. 1. Download the appropriate firmware file, unzip the file, and make sure it is accessible on the computer. 2. Click the Network Setting icon in the upper right. 3. Navigate to TOOLS > FIRMWARE 4. Click on Browse and select the firmware file (i.e. kernelwifi100- vx.x.x.x.dlf). 5. Click Apply a. Do you wish to continue with the upgrade process? b. Click OK c. At the end of the upgrade, the router may not respond to commands as long as a minute. This is normal behavior. Please do NOT power off the router. 6. Wait for Network Module to update. 7. Verify firmware version after the upgrade by logging back into the Network Module and checking the Application Version on the left side of the web page. NOTE: Remember to restore the original network configuration of your computer when finished.

15 15 Disabling CA300 Network Module DHCP Server The CA300 s Network Module can operate as a DHCP Server to make setup easier. This server is enabled by default, whenever the system is factory defaulted, to streamline the network configuration process. However, this may create unintended network conflicts. Should the need arise to disable the DHCP Server, perform the following procedures: 1. Perform a factory default to the CA300 system 2. Login to the Network Module to disable the DHCP Server Factory Defaulting the CA300 NOTE: Make sure the system is not connected to the wired network when the system is factory defaulted. When the system is defaulted, this will enable the Network Module s internal DHCP Server. To remove ALL CA300 system configuration settings, press and hold the following buttons at the same time for 5 seconds: BACK + MAKE CALL + MUTE + DISCONNECT. The source selections LED s will light up one by one and blink three times before the entire system reboots. Once the system has fully booted up (approximately 2.5 minutes), it is ready for setup and configuration. Follow the steps below to enable the original system settings before factory defaulting.

16 16 Network Module Configuration to Disable DHCP Server NOTE: Perform a factory default before proceeding with the following procedure. 1. Connect a network cable between the console network port and a computer. 2. Open a new web browser window (IE9 or higher, Firefox, Chrome, or Safari) and enter the following IP address in the browser s address bar: The Network Module Setup wizard will appear. Follow the setup procedure as shown below: to computer a. Choose AP mode and press Next b. Press Next

17 17 c. Wait for system to reload. d. Set the SSID to CA300 and select Next e. Set the username and password to admin and press Next. f. Select Next.

18 18 g. Save the configuration and wait while the system reboots (approximately 30 seconds). h. Login. Factory default is admin/admin. i. Select the configure icon

19 19 j. Select Wireless k. Select Security and disable the SSID broadcast, select Apply l. Select OK and wait for reboot. 4. The configuration is complete. Remove power and network connections.

20 20 Known Limitations a. Roaming may defer between different Access Points and WLAN Controller and take a few minutes to switch. b. AP Profile limit Reached message will appear if a fourth profile is attempted (setup wizard). Only 3 AP Profiles are supported, Edit or delete one of the 3 profiles to continue. c. We found that Passive Client may need to be enabled on certain infrastructures controlled by a Cisco Wireless LAN Controller to ensure that DHCP traffic flows correctly. To set this option on our Cisco WLC, model 2504 with software version , we: a. Logged-in to the WLAN Controller through its web interface. b. Clicked on the WLANs tab at the top of the webpage. c. Clicked on WLAN ID number of the WLAN that you want the bridge to connect to. d. Clicked on the Advanced tab (not quite all the way at the top). e. Scrolled down to Passive Client (right side) and checked the box. f. Clicked the Apply button in the upper-right hand corner. The ip helper <IP address> command needs to be entered in an Autonomous Cisco Aironet Access point with 15.x IOS software. Workaround: If supported, load IOS 12.x to the Cisco Access Point as this command is not required. e. Wireless Authentication Certificates are currently not supported in the Network Module. f. Access Points that have Agreement Wi-Fi splash screen are not supported as Agree is not submitted when connected.

21 21 Known Wireless Network Compatibility The CA300 wireless solution is based on a standard that is compatible with a wide variety of wireless networks. This list notes just some of them.
