1 Connecting to the UWW VPN to access the virtual labs from off campus 1. Open a browser and go to 2. Login with your UWW Net-ID. 3. Select the AnyConnect item from the menu and the click the link to Start AnyConnect. 4. If a pop-up window directs you to a website to download Sun Microsystems Java Runtime Environment, you do not have the correct version of the Java Runtime Environment installed on your system. If you see the pop-up, download Sun Java version 1.4 or later. 5. When prompted, install the AnyConnect software.

2 6. When the installation is finished, the webpage will refresh to show that you are successfully connected. 7. Once successfully connected, follow the Installing the VMware View Client instructions below.

3 Installing the VMware View Client - PC VMware View Client instructions 1. Open Internet Explorer and go to 2. Select View Client and click the button to download the installer. Save the file to your Desktop or Downloads folder. Note: Internet Explorer will detect whether you are running a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows and offer you the appropriate installer. If you use another web browser, you will need to select the right version (32- bit or 64-bit). 3. Launch the installer you downloaded. 4. Click Next when prompted and accept the license agreement. 5. At the Custom Setup screen, you can leave the default options selected and click Next. 6. At the Default Server screen, enter viewconnect.uww.edu as the Default View Connection Server.

4 7. At the Enhanced Single Sign On screen, leave the default options selected and click Next. 8. Choose where you would like shortcuts, then click Next and Install. 9. Click Finish when the installer is complete. You will be prompted to restart your computer.

5 Using the VMware View Client - PC VMware View Client instructions 1. After installing the software and restarting your computer, you can begin using virtual computers by launching the VMware View Client shortcut. 2. Once the software opens, click Connect. Then, enter your Net-ID and password in the appropriate fields and click Login. 3. You will then be prompted to select which pool of virtual computers you would like to connect to. For this pilot, there is only one pool of computers to choose: General Access Labs. 4. Click Connect to get started. You will be connected to and logged in to a virtual General Access lab computer! 5. Log out of the virtual computer when you are finished using it and the VMware View Client will close automatically.

6 Installing the VMware View Client - Mac 1. Open Mozilla Firefox and go to 2. Select View Client for Mac OS and click the Go to Downloads. Click on the button to download the installer. Save the file to your Desktop or Downloads folder (it will likely automatically save it to your Downloads folder). 3. Launch the installer you downloaded. 4. Click to accept the license agreement. 5. Next a VMware View Client window will pop up. You will then need to drag the VMware View Client icon to the Applications folder icon. 6. You will then need to restart your computer.

7 Using the VMware View Client - Mac 1. After installing the software and restarting your computer, you can begin using virtual computers by launching the VMware View Client from the Applications folder. The first time you open the software, you will likely receive a pop-up warning that the software was downloaded from the Internet; please click Open. 2. Once the software opens, click on the viewconnect.uww.edu cloud. Then, enter your Net-ID and password in the appropriate fields and click Continue. 3. You will then be prompted to select which pool of virtual computers you would like to connect to. There is only one pool of computers to choose: General Access Labs, please double click on this connection. 4. You will be connected to and logged in to a virtual General Access lab computer! 5. Log out of the virtual computer when you are finished using it and the VMware View Client will close automatically.
