1 Title of Course ICT FOUNDATIONS OF THE PEDAGOGICAL PROFESSION Department of Communication and Instruction Technology practice Basics of Information and Communication Technology Objective Upon completion of the course students should possess instruction and information technology literacy with special attention to the methodological foundations of the application of instruction and info-communical systems and the services available at the worldwide web. In connection with the given professional discipline students should be capable of searching and retrieving information in an efficient manner, along with effectively partaking in multiple network-based communication schemes. Students will also be able to process data and information electronically, in addition to creating, modifying, and disseminating digital content. Furthermore, students should master the criteria for the creation, design, and evaluation of educational materials and electronic texts as well. Topics of the course text 1. Introduction: course requirements, learning work 2. Traditional and new media systems, relevant methodological questions of use 3. Instruction technology of ICT devices. 4. The evaluation and qualification of multimedia-based electronic educational materials and devices. 5. Illustrations, demonstrations of educational materials. The electronic publication. 6. The conceptual system of of e-learning methodology. The online community media. 7. The process of designing e-learning texts and the questions of the media genre. e-learning standards, standardized e-learning texts. 8. Processing digital contents, creative media technologies. 9. Online pedagogical knowledge bases. (Searching and retrieval of information on the Internet. Digitalized pedagogical information sources, 10. Concepts of hypertext, hypermedia and multimedia. Online information search. Planning and developing pedagogical information carriers. AV equipments. 3 This course gives and overlook to the complex relations between information and society. The aim is to enable students to understand the knowledge based society in which they live and work. The course helps students to understand the information and knowledge based society of the 21st century by introducing them to the relations of human beings, information, technology and society. The guiding principle of the course is systems approach. Major topics: Introduction to information science information, nature and society. Mathematical and technological definitions of information. Information and communication in biological systems. Molecular information systems. Sign, meaning, information semiotic dimensions of information. Information and communication in the society, evolution of cultural forms. Language use and speaking verbalism. Writing, reading, book printing their influence to the society. Electronic telecommunication, sound and picture recording, mass communication. Computer revolution from the beginning to mainframes, metamorphosis of computers. Information explosion, hypertext, multimedia information critics, negative social effects of information technologies. Information society culture and science in the 21st century. Perspectives information systems in the 21st century, globalization, risk society, individuals and collectivity.
