1 Private Events Brochure The Groucho Club Private event rooms Unique, flexible and effortlessly stylish, The Groucho Club is the exceptional destination for special events. Our devoted and efficient staff can accommodate almost any configuration from an intimate private dinner, meeting, launch to a roaring party for two hundred guests. Nestled impressively in the heart of Soho, The Club is renowned for its stunning contemporary art collection which forms a sophisticated backdrop to any event. We even have twenty bedrooms should you and your guests wish to stay.

2 Club History The Groucho Club is a private members' club open to men and women formed in 1985 dreamt up by a group of publishers as an alternative to stuffy gentleman's clubs. Around four hundred publishers, theatrical and media types put their hands in their pockets to create this new club. The premises were secured, renovation work was undertaken, the cellar filled with wine and the kitchens and bars staffed. On 5th of May 1985 The Groucho Club officially opened its doors for the first time. The name is from an often misquoted line by Groucho Marx of the Marx Brothers comedy group that seems to be: I sent the club a wire stating, please accept my resignation. I don t want to belong to any club that will accept people like me as a member.

4 Gennaro Room The Gennaro Room is a newly renovated space on the second floor of the Club. With superb light and its own mirrored bar this adaptable yet elegant room is intimate enough for a chic dinner, a glamorous cocktail party or almost any permutation of meeting, seminar, workshop, disco etc. The Gennaro Room is also licensed for weddings and civil ceremonies for up to 60 guests. 5 Mackintosh Room Our second floor Mackintosh Room, overlooking Dean Street, is ideal for formal dining or meetings and presentations. 6 Mary-Lou Room Situated on the 1st floor, the Mary-Lou Room is a multi-purpose and dynamic space with its own bar practical for dining, lectures, screenings or even a disco. The room boasts a striking artwork wall by Ian Davenport, interconnecting doors to the Dining Room and internal staircase to the Snooker Room. 7 Dining Room View to Mary-Lou Room The first floor Dining Room is normally our members' restaurant but is available for private hire on Mondays and Saturdays. An ornate arched ceiling and glass roof, stunning 1970's crystal chandelier and polished wooden floors make this a very impressive private event location. The space interconnects with the Mary-Lou Room via double doors making it a very flexible space. The Dining Room is licensed for weddings and civil ceremonies for up to 60 guests. There's also shared access to our outside space Liam's yard. 9 Snooker Room The Snooker Room is located on the 2nd floor. After decades of sterling service the snooker table has been taken away for restoration releasing a new hidden gem perfect for private dinners or drinks receptions. 10 Bedrooms The Groucho Club offers 20 bedrooms for the convenience of its members, hosts and guests of private events. Bedrooms vary in size and style from singles to large doubles. All of our rooms have an en suite bathroom, full minibar, digital HD TV, DVD player, wifi, ipod dock, hair dryer, selection of REN toiletries, rescue pack, well stocked mini bar and Nespresso coffee machine, telephone and safe.
