1 GENERAL LIVESTOCK SUPERINTENDENTS: David and Alexis Mikus LIVESTOCK COMMITTEE: Beef Meat Goat & Sheep Walter Branson Poultry Ronda Williams Rabbit Michael Gerdeman Swine Donny & Sherry Kopmann Note: Starting in 2017, the Livestock Committee is adopting weight limits for all market animals. These limits are given as guidelines for the 2016 Fair. The weight limits will be enforced at the 2017 Fair. Any animal not meeting the limits at check-in night in 2017 will not be eligible for show or sale and must be removed from the fairgrounds that night. Entry fees for ineligible animals will NOT be refunded. The weight limits are as follows: Market Steers Minimum 1000 lbs. Maximum 1600 lbs. Market Hogs Minimum 200 lbs. Maximum 350 lbs. Market Lambs Minimum 90 lbs. Maximum 160 lbs. Market Goats Minimum 50 lbs. Maximum 120 lbs. Single Fryer Rabbit Minimum 2.5 lbs. Maximum 5 lbs. Meat Chickens Minimum 2 lbs. Maximum 8 lbs. I. CODE OF ETHICS: Believing it is in the best interest of all junior exhibitors to present a wholesome and impressive image, the Warren County Fair sets forth the following regulations: 1. 4-H and FFA members are expected to conduct themselves according to the best tradition of their respective organization. Inappropriate conduct (drinking, stealing, vandalism, indiscreet behavior and/or poor showmanship) will not be tolerated. 2. Members of both 4-H & FFA must be in good standing with their respective organizations. 3. Any violation of these rules will be grounds for disqualifying the exhibitor and/or livestock involved. Furthermore, any premium monies and/or awards earned by a disqualified exhibitor will be forfeited and no entry fee will be refunded. II. ENTRIES: 1. Breeding stock classes must be postmarked by Friday, June 17 th, 2016 and mailed to: 2. All market classes must be postmarked by Friday, June 3 rd,2016 and mailed to: 3. 2 a. Rabbits will be tattooed and Chickens Banded on Monday, May 31 st 6:30-7:30 P.M. at the Warren County Fairgrounds. 4. Entry fees of $6.00 per exhibit (chicken meat pens are one exhibit) must be included with entry forms. 5. Entry forms may be obtained from your local Extension Office, FFA advisor, or the following websites at: OR 6. No Late entries or incomplete entry forms will be accepted. a. Market Entries postmarked after June 3 rd will be subject to a $20 per exhibitor late fee. b. Market Entries received after June 17 th WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED! c. Breeding Stock Entries postmarked after June 17 th will be subject to a $20 per exhibitor late fee. d. Breeding Stock Entries received after June 24 th WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED! e. No changes or substitutions will be allowed once your entry form has been turned in. 7. No animal will be accepted at the fair that has not been officially entered. III. ENTRY ELIGIBILITY (MARKET AND BREEDING STOCK): 1. Each exhibitor must agree to abide by the rules of the Warren County Fair Livestock Committee. 2. Individual exhibitors may not show more than TWO entries per class. 3. Animals must be owned, fed, and cared for by the exhibitor. Project records, SAE s or registration papers will show proof of ownership. 4. Partnership: 4-H/FFA members may own a 4-H /FFA livestock project in partnership with other 4-H and/or FFA members who are immediate (brother/sister) family members and in the case of breeding livestock, may have them registered jointly. Each member may show the same number of head, as if they were individually owned. However, fair entries should identify which animals are to be shown by each exhibitor. The exhibitor s name must appear on the registration papers. 5. All exhibitors MUST be 8 years old as of Jan. 1, 2016 and enrolled in a legitimate project. 6. All FFA members are eligible to show as long as they are in good standing with their local FFA Chapter and are not 21 years of age as of Dec. 31 st, IV. MARKET ANIMALS: 1. Market animal entries are limited to youth that are active members of a Warren County 4-H or a Warren County FFA Chapter. 2. Market animals must be owned by the exhibitor at weigh-in (May 31 st for single fryer rabbits). 3. Market animals must be tagged and weighed for Rate-of-Gain (rabbit must be tattooed) & sheep and goats must have USDA Scrapie tags. 4. To be eligible for auction, animals must be exhibited in class 150, 250, 350, 450, 550 or Animals must be exhibited at the fair to be eligible for final Rate-of-Gain. 6. All exhibitors must have a current SMQA certification card (in accordance with the state rulings) in order to sell their market animal. 7. Final Rate-of-Gain weigh-in will be Monday, June 27 th 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. 8. All market animals must be in place on Monday, June 27 th by 11:59 P.M. 9. All market animals NOT selling in the auction will be removed on
3 Thursday, June 30 th, between 6:00 A.M. & 10:00 A.M. EXCLUDING ANIMALS STAYING FOR JACKPOT SHOWS a. THIS IS THE OWNER S RESPONSIBILITY. 10. An attempt must be made to clean all animals before final weigh-in. 11. Exhibitors must have owned a buck and doe by Jan. 1, 2016 and attempted to use them to raise their single fryer. Rabbits must be in exhibitor s possession by May 31, 2016, and born after March 23, All exhibitors may enter each species in ultrasound class (class #101-Steers, #201-hogs, #300-lambs, #600-goat). Entry fee of $5.00 each for hogs, lambs, goat; $12.50 each for steers to be paid on entry forms. V. BREEDING ANIMALS 1. Breeding Stock animals must be owned and in possession 30 days prior to the Warren County Fair. 2. Rabbits must be tattooed at the time of entry. 3. All sheep and goats must have USDA Scrapie Identification tag. 4. Junior exhibitors in any adjoining county may exhibit breeding stock animals at the Warren County Fair as long as that county reciprocates to our county exhibitors. 5. Breeding exhibitors will be limited to 6 head per species (beef, sheep, goat, chickens and rabbits). 6. No animals that were exhibited in a market class will be allowed to be entered in a breeding stock class. 7. All Breeding Stock animals must be in place as stated in the 2016 Livestock Schedule. 8. All Breeding Stock will be released on the same day as they are shown and must be off grounds by 10:00 P.M. that day. 9. All Breeding Stock premiums will be mailed after the fair. 10. All exhibitors must purchase a daily pass to cover cost of daily admission, unless a season pass is purchased previously. 11. No health papers are needed on any breeding stock entry from the state of Missouri. VI. EXHIBITOR RESPONSIBILITIES: In order to receive premiums, the following responsibilities must be met: 1. All Warren county exhibitors must assist with facilities work nights: a. SET UP: Saturday, May 21 at 8:00 A.M and Saturday, June 11 at 8:00 A.M. *{LUNCH WILL BE b. FINAL SET UP & MEETING: Thursday, June 23 rd at 6:30 P.M. PROVIDED} c. CLEAN UP: Sunday, July 3 rd at 8:00 A.M. If you cannot make one of the dates, you MUST contact Dave Mikus to make other arrangements Premiums will be given out after cleanup & must be picked up by exhibitor. The exhibitor must be present to pick up premiums, unless prior arrangements are made with the livestock committee within the week prior to the fair. 2. Feed, bedding and other show supplies will be provided by the exhibitor. 3. All exhibitors must keep alleyways and livestock bedding clean at all times. 4. All cattle will be exhibited at halter. 5. Exhibitors will be responsible for purchasing a season pass a. If an exhibitor pre-purchased a Season Pass, they will need to bring that pass to the final work night, Thursday June 23 rd
4 b. One vehicle pass will be issued per family and each camper will be issued a second vehicle pass. You must have one displayed in your vehicle to enter the gate and park on the grounds. c. All livestock exhibitors will enter through exhibitor gate. Everyone entering this gate MUST have a season pass. 6. Exhibitors must show their own animals; except for illness, two entries in the same class or help to secure animal for younger exhibitors. Another exhibitor whom shows that same species who actively participates in the 4-H/Clover Kid/ FFA or a parent may help exhibitor. 7. If any animal is unruly or unmanageable they will be asked to leave the grounds. 8. All exhibitors camping overnight will be charged $30 per camper/tent and must be wearing a camping wrist band at all times. All others will be asked to leave the fairgrounds. Campers must also complete a camping registration form, MUST be POSTMARKED by FRIDAY, JUNE 17, 2016; late registration forms are subject to a late fee. 9. Swine exhibitors must stop exercising hogs by 6:30 P.M. on the day of the market show. 10. Poultry exhibitors must provide cages for waterfowl and turkeys. All other cages will be provided. 11. Poultry exhibitors must have feed and water at all times. Exhibitor must provide adequate containers. 12. Goats must be shown with halter and lead. Bracing is now accepted and market goats will be clipped with hair no longer than ½ inch. VI. JUDGING 1. Judging will be done by the Danish System. 2. Market animals will be shown in classes according to weight, with no more than 15 animals per class. 3. Champion and Reserve ribbons and awards will be awarded in each weight class. 4. Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion of each species will be selected from the first and second place animals in each class. (Market classes only). 5. Supreme Champion and Supreme Reserve Champion, male and female, of each species will be selected from the Grand Champion of each breed (Breeding Stock classes only). VII. AWARDS: 1. Intermediate (age 8-12), Junior (age 13-16) and Senior (age 17-21) SHOWMANSHIP trophies will be awarded to the best show person in each species of market animals. VIII. AUCTION: 1. Each Warren County youth is limited to one animal in the sale. 2. If an exhibitor shows more than one animal, they must notify the Livestock Committee of which animal they wish to sell immediately following the market show. 3. Overall Grand and Overall Reserve Champions must sell (unless same owner) 3. Sale order will be randomly generated by computer after final weigh-in. 4. Exhibitor must be present in the sale ring with their animal at the time of sale or it will be a no sale. 5. Picture expense (2 5 x7 ) will be held from each exhibitor s sales proceeds.
5 IX. PROTEST: 1. All protests must be in writing to the General Livestock Superintendent within 24 hours following the rule violation. X. HEALTH: 1. Health requirements are established by the Missouri Department of Agriculture, Animal Health Division and shall be complied with as stated in 2 CSR Animal Health Requirements for Exhibition. Veterinarian will be present for examination at fair. All animals must meet the minimum health requirements as determined by the veterinarian to be eligible to show. 2. Steers must be free from warts, pinkeye, ringworm and other contagious diseases. 3. Sheep must be free from sore-mouth and foot-rot. 4. Any signs of these diseases may result in possible removal of animal from the fairgrounds. 5. Animals with active lesions of ring-worm with resulting loss of hair or warts easily visible without close examination will not be permitted to exhibit and shall be subject to isolation or expulsion depending on the nature and seriousness of the disease. 6. Sheep that are to be exhibited must be free of clinical signs of an infectious or contagious disease. 7. Scabies: a. Sheep from a scabies-quarantined area must be dipped or treated by an officially approved method within ten (10) days prior to exhibition. b. A prior permit number must be obtained and recorded on a health certificate if the sheep are from a scabies-quarantined area. 8. Goats must have scrapie tags and be free from diseases. 9. All poultry must be free of infections and/or contagious disease and will be subject to daily inspection while on exhibition. 10. Chickens will undergo blood testing for typhoid and pullorum at check-in. Any animal showing signs of disease must be removed from the fairgrounds. 11. All animals must have proper Id tags in place at time of species check-in. THE LIVESTOCK COMMITTEE WILL MAKE THE FINAL DECISION ON ANY RULES AND/OR REGULATION VIOLATION. THE LIVESTOCK COMMITTEE ASSUMES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR INJURY, LOSS, OR ACCIDENTS TO EXHIBITORS AND/OR ANIMALS.
