Reinforcing the myth: Constructing Australian identity in reality TV In this paper the author s intention is to present an analysis of the most popular genres in reality TV shows within Australia. The author believes that the majority of reality TV shows concentrate on everyday life topic. Authenticity and performance are the main priority of program production and reception whereas national culture and identity became the focus of the show. In the industry, the label of reality TV has a limit forms such as Factual Entertainment and contemporary documentary. Reality is the way for us to develop something, change something and strain it to audience. The post production service is the main part to make the footage become reality format. They put a bit of humor, drama, character and human interest to make it interesting to watch by the audience. This paper is good for research source because the author uses many reliable references to support the idea and prove the statement. Moreover the author not only explain about the genre and reality TV as general but the author bring Bondi Rescue as an example and explain form its perspective. Also the author use simple words to write so the paper is easy to understand. This paper is useful for my research because it talks and answers my question about popular stereotype show in Australia and also talking about content production. Moreover, for getting this paper, we search on RMIT library online. The Evolution of TV Viewing When doing the research about new media, sometime we put less concern about content, service design, and the using of new medium. In the discussion, the authors more focus on user behavior and the interaction between behavior, technology and programing. The changing of user behaviors usually base on the changing of technology. Moreover the new technology makes access to media easier for user.
The new technology that currently we use can not be separated from the history when it came at the first time. The discussion will talk about very useful historical system in leading assessment of new media. This journal is very good as a source because it talk about the changing technology TV in very detail since the first time it come until now and predict the future. And also it talks about the behavior of the user when using TV, broadband PCs, PVRs, EPGs and ITV. The language in this journal is very simple and straight forward so it make easier to understand. The bad think from this journal that we can not see any references in it. However this journal is useful for become a source in my research because it explains the user behavior to TV and the development of TV technology. Active Audience Theory: Pendulums and Pitfalls In this paper the author about the audience of media and TV in the past. He said that the assumption about the passive audience in the past was not accurate. In the fact, the audience are active in making critical or oppositional reading of dominant culture forms, perceiving ideology messages selectively, etc. And also, the author brings up the two assumption about the new audience work in media studies: the audience is always active and that media content is always polysemic or open to interpretation. This paper is good as a source for research, the author use a lot of theory and reliable source to write the discussion. Every topic in the paper he discusses in detail so the reader can understand clearly. Moreover, this paper is useful for my research to get information about active audience in the pass, and to compare with the current audience. Also with many theory that the author use in references list we can collect more information if we need it.
The Active Audience: Spectatorship, Social Relation and The Experience of Cinema in India In this paper we can see that India is the largest producer of feature films in the word. Their film business is decentralized and the most popular place is Bombay. Most of the film from Bombay use Hindi language and it film will distribute aboard around the world. Moreover the paper discuss about the characteristics of Indian film s genre because the viewer is varied. And also the author explains and compares the audience between cinema in India and USA or western. In India show time in cinema will tell about the audience, most of the women will go on afternoon if the watch with their friend and go in the night together with husband and family. Moreover the author will describe about the theater and the condition during the film in India. This paper is a good and reliable source to make another research. The author discusses the topic very clear and easy to understand. The conclusion can explain the rest of the paper. Also we can get the references list if we want to use it for future research. I will use this paper to give me information about the user behavior on one of the Asian country and compare it with western country. I can use it also as the source to explain about genre in Indian movie. Convergence of Collaborative Web Approaches and Interactive TV Program Formats This paper will talk about itv itself and the relation between itv with other support device. The author will focus to what the viewer already consumes in this kind of media. The author also mention about the Internet and social media as the support for the source of information media and promotion for itv. Moreover the author mentions about the format of program in itv and compare it to the conventional TV. They also give the example of TV program to show how it interacts to
the audience. The classification in narration, content, interactivity will be discuss by the author in the last part. The author use some illustration to support the discussion and give some example for TV program so the reader easy to understand. Also the statement that author said is based on the references so the paper can be trusted. I will use this paper to help me write about the development of itv and the connection between itv with other media such as web, blog, or social media. Moreover the author use simple language to write the paper so it easy to get the point in every part. Enhanced TV as Brand Extension: TV Viewers Perception of Enhanced TV Features and TV Commerce on Broadcast Networks Web Site The future direction of TV industry will become interactive TV and enhanced TV. In this paper the authors talk more about the development of enhance TV and commerce TV. The relation between the new format of TV and the audience become one of the concerns in discussion. Passive and active audiences also receive little attention in this paper. But the experience and effect from the audience during using online and web service on commerce TV and enhance TV will get more attention in the paper. The authors use table so show the statistic result and explain it on many section on the paper. The reference list that author use is useful to prove the statement and future research for the reader. I will use this paper as a source for my research to explain more about the development on TV format and also explain about the audience experience.
Age Expectation of behavioral Autonomy in Hon Kong, Australian and American Youth: The Influence of Family Variable and Adolescents Values In this paper the authors talking about difference of family background, especially the correlation to family behavior. The age expectation in America, Australia and Hong Kong seem diverse. American and Australian look similar but Hong Kong had later expectation. Moreover, it said that the involvement children in Hong Kong family are less than western countries. A lot of formula to count the result of the survey is used in this paper, it make the ready quite confusing when read it. In other hand the discussion part on the paper is clear to explain what they talking in previous and the introduction give a picture what inside the paper. Probably I will use the paper to explain about the background of Hong Kong and Australia family in my research. Predicting Audience Exposure to Television in Today s Media Environment: An Empirical Integration of Active-Audience and Structural Theories This paper will review about audience exposure to television. Audience characteristic, availability, access, newer media, motivation are participate to determine TV exposure. Income and gender of the audience have a relation to motivation and availability. Moreover, all of that aspect will be discuss in the paper. The authors explain every aspect in detail and clear. Also they use a simple words to explain the problem so reader easy to understand. The figure that author give is useful to explain the outline of the paper. I will use this paper to support my research because it explains about the audience behavior and what aspects affect to the audience to become active viewer.
