3 RORO vessels now operating in the Port of Nacala RoRo (Roll on/roll off) vessels are now operating in the port of Nacala. The first vessel JOLLY DIA- MANTE belonging to Messina Lines made its first call to Nacala on the 21st of April 2014, carrying containers and machineries. In the month of May two more RoRo vessels, JOLLY CRIASTALO and JOLLY PERLA berthed at the port also carrying containers and machineries. 31

4 Zambia locomotives and wagons now circulating in the Nacala Corridor Zambia locomotives and wagons are now circulating in the Nacala Corridor. The first inaugural Zambia Railways train attached to 31 container wagons departed Chipata on Friday the 9th of May 2014 for loading at Kanengo (Lilongwe). Loading was completed on Tuesday 13th May and the train departed on the same day for Nacala, arriving Nacala port on Saturday, the 17th of May. The second train with 20 High Sided Open wagons departed from Chipata at 12:30 hrs on Friday, 16thMay 2014, and arrived at Nacala Port on Tuesday 20th of May at 12:30. The movement of cargo to and from Nacala is expected to be very busy in the next coming months with the commencement of the movement of ore. 2

5 Matanuska Mozambique one of the top 5 clients at the port Matanuska Mozambique Lda, the producer and exporter for Rift Valley Holdings and Norfund, began its activities in Namialo in Its first exports were by road in 2010 to the neighboring country Zimbabwe and quickly gained the international market namely to Iran. At the moment, 90 % of its exports go to the Middle East (Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Iraq and Egypt) and slowly conquering the Japanese and Korean market. The port of Nacala verified a considerable growth during the first half of the year with 1,400 teus, with a peak of up to 70x 40 'per week and expects to end the year with approximately containers, an increase of about 30% compared to last year. In January 2014, Matanuska entered a marketing partnership with Dole Europe, a global marketer of fruit, laying the foundation for expansion into new markets for the Nampula-produced banana. Matanuska has acres of farm land and intends to expand to 2,300 hectares in 2014 and Each hectare is equivalent to boxes of bananas. It has a workforce of 2.400, and climbs to workers during peak season. 3

7 Removal of the north quay pavement In line with the rehabilitation of the Port of Nacala, on the 27th of May the removal of the north quay pavement began. The subcontractor (Penta Ocean / Teixeira Duarte) allocated a team in the removal area and another team in the storage area, where the work is being done every day from 07:30h to 17:30h. The objective of the removal of the pavement is to facilitate the excavations, which will take place on site, for the building of the RTGs foundation and leveling of the area that will serve as the new park for the containers. The work is going smoothly and should be soon completed. 5

8 Portos do Norte celebrates Children s day in Nacala On the 1stof June Portos do Norte celebrated Children s Day in Nacala. 400 children belonging to Portos do Norte workers attended a lunch organized by the company at Ferroviário. The children played and interacted at the lunch and received gifts such as t-shirts, toys, balloons just to name a few. It was indeed a fun and special day for the children. 6

9 SAFETYAT THE PORT Workshop on the Safety Regulations of the Port of Nacala The seminar took place on the 25th of April and the following companies were present: Portos do Norte S.A,Terminais do Norte, CDN, Kudumba, Alfandêgas, CMA CGM, Bolloré, Manica, MSC, Administração Marítima, Maersk Line, Sonasa,CFM- Norte, OCDI and JICA. The objective of the seminar was to publicly present the Port Security Regulation and raise awareness to all the collaborators and contractors of the importance of the Port Security Regulations and compliance of the current Safety, Health and Environment legislation, in particularly the regulations of the Labor Ministry. The companies listed participated actively during the seminar, the regulation was commended and contributions for improvement were put forward. 7

10 BASIC SAFETY POINTS AT THE PORT OF NACALA No accident (RED POINTS) The Safety Department at Portos do Norte has implemented the basic safety points for all Port users and operators called the Red Point Rules, which include: 1st Point Do not perform any activities if you re not qualified, able or authorized, if you have not received training, or if you don t have the skills to do so. 2nd Point Do not work under the influence of alcohol and/or illicit drugs. 3rd Point Always use a safety belt when performing work at height. Make sure it is properly secured and that all applicable safety measures are in place. 4th Point Do not access secluded or identified areas where the handling of cargo takes place without proper authorization. 5th Point Report all work related accidents. 6th Point The use of Collective Protection Equipment (CPE) or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is compulsory for those who circulate in areas where heavy machinery is being operated or who execute activities in operational areas. 7th Point Comply with all the safety rules. 8th Point Port operators should have all their equipment in good condition (trucks and machineries). 9th Point Compulsory use of twistlocks on the container trucks. 10th Point Comply with the speed limits established within the port 20 KM per hour 8
