2 CONFERENCE DESCRIPTION Pancreatic cancer is a lethal malignancy that kills almost all affected. Although surgical therapy has been optimized, further improvements in the long-term survival rate are dependent on the ability to understand the genetic and molecular basis of pancreatic cancer. This clinically-oriented activity is structured to educate physicians treating pancreatic cancer on novel advances in the genetics, early diagnosis, surgical treatment, and multidisciplinary therapies of pancreatic cancer. CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES After this conference, participants will be able to: Understand the genetic and molecular basis of pancreatic cancer to facilitate early diagnosis and improve outcomes for patients; Critically evaluate the reported outcomes of surgical therapy in pancreatic cancer and to understand barriers that prevent patients from receiving treatment; Identify seminal ethical issues in treating pancreatic cancer patients; Develop a comprehensive understanding on the current efficacy of multidisciplinary treatments for pancreatic cancer patients and to become familiar with novel treatments that are on the horizon. TARGET AUDIENCE The target audience includes surgical oncologists, GI oncologists, radiation oncologists, gastroenterologists, and other health care providers and specialists involved in the treatment of pancreatic cancer.
