3 This is an example of how to brace an opening for a standard size window. Wider windows and lintez heights play a factor in how much bracing is needed. Common concrete knowledge is needed. For more information on bracing larger openings contact: Jerry STEP 1: Screw two 2 x 6's to the sides and one to the top Position the 2 x 6's in the middle of the window buck Key Buck 2 x 6's 2X6" 2 x 6's Leave a 8" gap on the bottom to gain access to the wall later 8" Gap STEP 2: Screw a piece of 1/2" OSB over the 2 x 6's Now the window buck is ready to be placed into the wall 8" Gap 1/2" OSB 8"Gap is access for pouring and vibrating under windows 76 System Bracing Window Bucks Date: 6/17/2014

4 Cut poly splice pieces to desired width to achieve accurate length for window buck installation Spliced poly pieces (Cut same height as buck) Spliced poly pieces (Cut same height as buck) Window Window mark layouts Position preassembled window buck into place on top of lower prebuilt poly forms Build below the window to desired height and make perfectly level Installing Window Buck System Date: 6/17/

6 Exterior plastic rail Interior plastic stud Remember to install header reinforcment according to code Install a laterial-tie on each side of the wall Use at least two cross-ties in header stud assembly Exterior plastic rail Interior plastic stud Slide down shortened interior poly panels in between stud rails Slide down shortened exterior poly panels in between stud rails Installing Window Buck Header System Date: 6/17/

7 If the height of the window header does not fit with one of TF's available pan sizes, then use the next size larger to ensure the wall is completely braced The pans and strongbacks will extend above the top of the wall when correctly positioned Example: 30" Header Example: 3ft Plastic Pan Pans and strongbacks can stick up into window area if need be Swing plastic pan into position by inserting the right side first and then locking the left side down by installing the strongback Use the aluminum strongback to lock the plastic pan into place 80 Installing plastic pans on header and footer System Date: 6/17/2014

8 Cut to width Cut to width 3 4 " Right Side Example Slide OSB into the channel normally used for plastic pans These parts can be left in place permanently for additional nailing surfaces along side of window for nailing trim work if needed Cut to width 3/4" plywood Slide the plywood into either the channel normally used for plastic pans (right side) or benind the aluminum strongback (left side) Drill screws from the inside of the window buck to secure the wood braces into place 3 4 " Left Side Example Cut to width 2 x 4 Additional window buck bracing System Date: 6/17/

10 After the concrete has been poured and cured, the pans,stongbacks, and any additional bracing may be removed Remove 2X4's and plywood Once the pans, strongbacks, and additional bracing have been cleared, remove the interior brace board of the window buck Toe screw the brace board into a new position Reinstall the brace board so that it's edge is flush with the outside of the window buck After the pour System Date: 6/17/
