We hope you will learn more about what Warwick has to offer by attending our information sessions and chatting to our current students. This guide will give you an idea of how to get the best out of your day and includes a campus map so that you can find your way around. Our Warwick Welcome Service ambassadors are wearing bright yellow tops so they should be easy to spot! We hope you have a great day. 1

3 Warwick facts Did you know? 2 Warwick was named University of the Year for 2015 by The Times and The Sunday Times. Warwick is ranked 15th in the world for our reputation with employers (QS World University Rankings 2014/15). Warwick was ranked as the third most targeted university nationally by the UK s top 100 graduate employers (The Graduate Market in 2015, High Fliers). In a recent government Research Excellence Framework we were ranked 7th overall among UK research universities for the quality of our research, with 87% of our research classed world-leading or internationally excellent (quality level of either 3* or 4*). Warwick s Students Union supports over 230 studentrun societies plus 67 sports clubs covering activities as diverse as juggling, cinema, Harry Potter and cheese and chocolate appreciation. One-third of our students are from overseas, coming from nearly 150 countries. Warwick academics have recovered tuberculosis genomes from a 200-year-old mummy and found evidence that the CIA used James Bond films to inspire real-life gadgets. Social media Do you have a Twitter account? to stay up to date with information about the Open Day before and during the event. Let us know how your day is going by using #warwickopen in your tweets. We will retweet our favourite messages and photos. Do you have an Instagram account? Post your photos of the Open Day on Instagram with the #warwickopen hashtag. We will like our favourite photos. You can also follow yourwarwick on Instagram to see our own photos of the day. Open Day Competition Take a photo of yourself on campus and post it to Twitter or Instagram with the #warwickopen hashtag. We will look through all of the photos and send 50 Amazon vouchers to whoever takes the best pictures! I like connecting with the University on social media because you have so much information at the touch of a button. You feel a part of Warwick wherever you are in the world. Mary Economics 3

4 Ask the students 4 My academic session was really inspiring. I learnt that the department and the University itself had a really friendly, approachable environment. Cara, Sociology Take a moment to breathe in the campus atmosphere. Warwick has a great feel that I didn t experience anywhere else. Thomas, Politics I strongly recommend going to the Welcome to Warwick talks because they provide a great prelimary insight into university life at Warwick. Jessica, Philosophy, Politics and Economics We asked our Warwick Welcome Service ambassadors to remember their own Open Day experiences back when they were visiting Warwick for the first time My top tip would be to talk to students doing the course you are hoping to study. Their excitement is so contagious that, if you re not yet 100% convinced, you surely will be! Roxanna, Film and Literature I will never forget the climbing wall. Seeing it confirmed my wish to go to Warwick. Jack, Maths The Open Day allowed me to experience the lively and friendly university atmosphere. I realised Warwick was the place for me. Christina, Politics and International Studies 5
