2 ASGE Postgraduate Course Improving Techniques and Practice for Everyday Endoscopy Held in conjunction with the American College of Gastroenterology Annual Scientific Meeting Course Description This course is designed to highlight the state-of-the-art endoscopic management of patients with gastrointestinal diseases that are encountered every day in practice, and provide attendees with tips and tricks that can be immediately employed to improve endoscopic techniques. A series of didactic lectures will be followed by real-life cases and include video content to stimulate audience dialogue with world-renowned faculty experts. This course gives expert solutions based on data and personal experience for challenging yet common problems such as sedation and antithrombotic management, endoscopy in IBD, detection and management of Barrett s esophagus, foreign body removal, gastrointestinal bleeding management techniques, luminal stenting, ERCP cannulation techniques and management of difficult stones, EUS-FNA and FNB and management of incidental cysts, and cutting-edge techniques for optimizing colonoscopy and polypectomy. Learning Objectives Upon completion of this educational activity, participants will be able to: Demonstrate the proper management of sedation and antithrombotic agents peri-procedurally Implement new techniques for treatment of GI emergencies such as GI bleeding and foreign bodies Identify the optimal candidates for endoscopic mucosal resection and locally ablative techniques in Barrett s esophagus Optimize endoscopic colon cancer screening and advanced polypectomy techniques, and recognize and treat complications during colonoscopy Utilize endoscopic scoring systems and chromoendoscopy for surveillance in IBD Incorporate techniques enhancing biliary and pancreatic cannulation and retrieval of challenging stones during ERCP Recognize the role of FNA versus FNB during EUS Intended Audience This course has been specifically designed for practitioners in gastrointestinal endoscopy, especially gastroenterologists, gastrointestinal surgeons, gastrointestinal nurses, and fellows in training.
