3 Royalty Carpet Mills Limited Lifetime Stain and Soil Resistance Warranty Royalty Carpet Mills warrants that the surface pile of all Royal Premiere and Royal Premiere Decadence brand carpets will resist most food and beverage stains from the date of the purchase for the life of the carpet, when properly installed over cushion meeting the recommendations as outlined by the Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) and maintained in an owner-occupied, single family, indoor, residential installation. Royalty Carpet Mills will, at its discretion and at its expense, repair, credit, or replace with comparable carpet, on a pro-rated basis, any portion of the installation which fails to exhibit improved stain resistance properties during the limited warranty period as provided below. This warranty is not transferable and is limited to the original purchaser of the carpet. No carpet is stain-proof. The stain resistant properties of Royal Premiere and Royal Premiere Decadence carpets will provide improved resistance to most food and beverage stains. This limited warranty excludes any residual stains or wicking that may occur. Also excluded are pet stains, vomit and stains caused by acids, oil-based or wax-based substances including, but not limited to tar, shoe polish, paints, lipstick, aerosol sprays and mascara. Additionally, substances that destroy or change the color of carpets (e.g., bleaches, acne medications, drain cleaners, plant food) are specifically excluded. Repair or replacement will be limited to the affected and adjacent areas of the carpet extending to the nearest wall, doorway, or entrance. If the identical carpet is not available, a replacement carpet of comparable quality will be provided. This warranty does not apply to purchases of irregulars, remnants or any carpet sold as is. Carpet installed outdoors, on stairs, in bathrooms or kitchens, or in areas subject to other than ordinary shoe traffic is specifically excluded from this warranty, as is damage caused by burns, vandalism, or improper cleaning methods and materials. This Limited Lifetime Stain and Soil Resistance Warranty is covered, for the first 10 years, by the Scotchgard Protector warranty. See terms and conditions outlined below. At the beginning of the 11th year, the coverage of the Limited Lifetime Stain and Soil Resistance Warranty will be taken over by Royalty Carpet Mills. See terms and conditions outlined below.

4 Scotchgard Protector 10-Year Limited Warranty Against Stains & Soil Your carpet will be covered for 10 years from the original date of purchase. This warranty is offered only to the original carpet purchaser and is not transferable. In the event that you are unable to remove a covered stain using 3M-recommended procedures, the Scotchgard Service Center will provide telephone support through a 3M-trained service specialist to help you remove the stains. Live operators are available M-F from 8am to 6pm central time. If the covered stain or area of soiling remains, 3M will dispatch a qualified service technician to your home to remove the stain at no charge to you. If the covered stains cannot be removed, 3M will repair or replace the affected area (the stained and adjacent areas extending to the nearest wall, doorway or entrance) with identical carpet. If the identical carpet is no longer available, 3M will allow reselection of Scotchgard Protector treated carpet of comparable cost. This limited warranty includes the reasonable (not to exceed $7/square yard) labor costs for repair or installation of replacement carpet, but does not include labor costs to replace custom carpets (e.g., borders, inserts), or the cost related to moving or replacing equipment, furnishings, partitions, other fixtures or structural items. The replacement carpet is not covered by this warranty. Carpet replacement must be performed within 180 days after 3M s authorization or the replacement will be waived. What to do to make sure your carpet is protected: Provide a legible copy of your original carpet purchase receipt, showing date of purchase. NO CLAIMS WILL BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT ORIGINAL PROOF OF CARPET PURCHASE.

5 Notify the Scotchgard Service Center as soon as possible within five (5) days of the occurrence of any covered stains or problems with soiling. If the stain or area of soiling is not removed with the assistance that 3M provides, you may file a claim under this warranty with the Scotchgard Service Center. Provide proof that your carpet has been cleaned either by a qualified professional cleaner using hot-water extraction at least once every two years, or by using a BISSELL Pro-Heat or ProHeat ProTech deep cleaning machines and a full size BISSELL deep cleaning formula with Scotchgard Protector at least once every 12 months from date of carpet purchase. To help protect your carpet, 3M strongly recommends that Scotchgard Protector be re-applied at least every 24 months. Proof of care and cleaning requires a dated receipt for professional hot-water extraction cleaning, or a dated receipt showing purchase of a BISSELL ProHeat or ProHeat Pro-Tech deep cleaning machine and proof of purchase of at least one full-size BISSELL deep cleaning formula with Scotchgard Protector every 12 months. Warranty Limitations and Exclusions: Scotchgard Protector guards your carpet against most common food and beverage stains to help keep your carpet looking good, longer. No product can protect carpet against all stains. This warranty does NOT cover: Carpet wear, or routine cleaning and maintenance. Carpet installed in high traffic areas or stairs. Area rugs are not covered. Filtration Soiling Carpets installed in places other than owner-occupied residential properties, including commercial or business places, daycare facilities, and rental properties. Carpet stains resulting from commercial use (i.e. contracted services, in-home businesses, etc.). Stains from substances other than food or beverage (i.e., vomit, urine, feces). Foods or beverages that contain strongly colored natural dyes (i.e., mustard, coffee, herbal tea).

6 Substances that destroy or change the color of carpets (i.e., bleaches, acne medications, drain cleaners, plant food). Stains or damage from abnormal use, including water damage from plumbing or appliance failure, storms or flooding, or due to improper installation, maintenance or cleaning of the carpet. Reappearance of previously cleaned stains (if stain reappears, 3M will provide a maximum of two professional cleaner visits). Defects or conditions covered by other warranties. 7 Royalty Carpet Mills 1-Year Limited Manufacturing Defect Warranty Royalty Carpet Mills warrants its residential carpeting against manufacturing defects for a period of one year from the date of original installation in an owner-occupied, single family residence. If your carpet is determined to be defective, Royalty Carpet Mills will handle such claims per the Terms and Conditions stated in this warranty booklet. Royalty Carpet Mills 20-Year Limited Abrasive Wear Warranty Royalty Carpet Mills warrants for 20 (twenty) years from the date of original installation that the surface pile of your carpet will not be worn by abrasions more than 10% when used in an owner-occupied, single family, indoor residential installation. If, within the warranted period, the pile weight of the carpet, when compared to non-traffic areas, loses more than 10% of its weight, Royalty Carpet Mills will provide a replacement carpet of comparable value for the affected area only (the worn and adjacent areas extending to the nearest wall, doorway, or entrance), plus reasonable labor. Abrasive wear means fiber loss from the carpet through normal abrasion, not from crushing or matting of the carpet pile in any area, or from staining, soiling, fading or other changes in carpet appearance. Carpets installed outdoors, on stairs, in bathrooms, kitchens, or in areas subject to other than normal shoe traffic are not covered by this warranty. Specifically excluded from this warranty is damage caused by tears, pulls, piling, burns, improper installation, inadequate cushion, improper cleaning, furniture, wheels, or athletic equipment. The cushion under your carpet is one of the most important components. It is the base that helps the carpet retain its texture and appearance. Cushion is sold by its thickness and density. A cushion that is too soft will adversely affect the performance of the carpet. A cushion that is too thick interferes with the secure anchoring of the carpet. Cushion that meets or exceeds CRI recommended specifications must be used in order to qualify for Royalty Carpet Mills warranties. For residential installation we recommend a cushion of no more than ½ inch thick, and no less than ¼ inch thick with a 6-8 pound per cubic foot density or equivalent. Additionally, carpet must be installed as outlined in the CRI s Installation Standard 105.

8 Royalty Carpet Mills 20-Year Limited Texture Retention Warranty Royalty Carpet Mills warrants that for 20 (twenty) years from the date of original installation, this carpet, under normal use in a proper indoor installation, will retain its texture, not showing excessive pile crushing or matting from ordinary foot traffic as a result of the tufts losing twist, provided the carpet is installed over a cushion meeting the CRI standards noted in the Abrasive Wear section and maintained according to manufacturer s recommendations in an owner-occupied, single-family residence. Texture retention is the ability of the carpet tufts to retain their visible shape, as measured by the degree of bursting, opening, or untwisting of the tufts at the surface of the carpet. Texture retention is measured against standardized rating scales ranging from 5.0 (new or no change) to 1.0 (severe change) ISO Standard To perform as warranted, this carpet must retain a texture rating of at least 2.75 under warranted conditions. Improper or inadequate care or maintenance will accelerate carpet wear. To refresh carpet texture, cleaning performed by a trained, qualified carpet care professional is required at least every 12 to 18 months. Proof of this service is required. Carpet installed outdoors, on stairs, in bathrooms, or kitchens or in areas subject to other than ordinary shoe traffic is specifically excluded from this warranty, as is damage caused by improper installation and/or improper cleaning methods and materials.

9 Implied Warranties No implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability and/or fitness for a particular purpose, extend beyond the terms of the written Royalty Carpet Mills carpet warranties. By implied warranties we mean ones that the law presumes to have been given by the seller even though they are not set out in writing. Please note: Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, or limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitations or exclusions may not apply to you. You have legal rights under this warranty. These warranties give you specific legal rights, and you may have other rights which vary from state to state. Except for these rights, the remedies provided under these warranties state the limit of Royalty Carpet Mills responsibilities.

10 General Terms and Conditions to Qualify for your Royalty Carpet Mills Carpet Warranties The liability of Royalty Carpet Mills under this limited warranty shall be limited to the actual cost of repair or replacement of the affected area of the carpet extending to the nearest wall, doorway, or entrance. Royalty Carpet Mills reserves the right to correct any defect prior to the carpet being removed, replaced, or settlement offered. If replacement is warranted, Royalty Carpet Mills shall provide a carpet of equal value should the identical carpet not be available. Royalty Carpet Mills will arrange a credit to your retailer as a percentage of the replacement cost of the new carpet excluding reasonable labor. The credit will be good only toward the purchase of new Royalty Carpet Mills carpet. There will be no cash payment. All carpets manufactured by Royalty Carpet Mills are intended solely for use as indoor floor covering and are not recommended for any other purpose. Non-Transferability The Royalty Carpet Mills carpet warranties are extended only to the original purchaser and are not transferable. Warranties apply only to carpet for the owner-occupied single family residential installations and to carpet purchased by the full-time tenant in a rental dwelling. First Quality Products Warranties are not applicable to carpet sold as second quality, irregular, used or mill end, or any item sold on an as is basis.

11 Improper Installation Improper installation can cause specific problems with your carpet. The Carpet and Rug Institute s Installation Standard CRI-105 stipulates to proper installation procedures which must be followed. Royalty is not responsible for damage to your carpet caused by improper installation. Examples are wrinkling, due to insufficient stretch; loss of tufts, due to improper seam sealing; and seam peaking. The International Floor Covering Installers Association maintains a directory of qualified carpet installers, contact number is Improper Maintenance or Inadequate Care Your carpet requires regular, routine maintenance. Please follow the recommendations described in this brochure under Carpet Care. Royalty is not responsible for damage to your carpet caused by improper maintenance or inadequate care, which could void all or part of your warranty coverage. Accidents, Abuse, or Abnormal Wear Your Royalty Carpet Mills carpet warranties do not cover damage resulting from accidents or abuse such as staining, soiling, burning, flooding, cutting, and damage cause by pets, or damage caused by improper cleaning methods and materials. Carpet on Stairs, in Bathrooms, and in Kitchens Your Royalty Carpet Mills carpet warranties do not cover damage or appearance changes on carpet installed on stairs, in bathrooms, kitchens, outdoors, or in areas subject to other than ordinary shoe traffic.

12 Cushion Failure Deterioration of the carpet cushion can cause problems with your carpet. We are not responsible for any defects caused by failure of the carpet cushion. Please see the cushion manufacturer s warranty statement for more information. Problems with Moisture Your Royalty Carpet Mills carpet warranties do not cover problems caused by wetting or persistence of excessive moisture. For immediate assistance, contact a certified water damage restoration specialist. The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) maintains a registry of trained, certified specialists, contact number is Differences in Samples Your Royalty Carpet Mills carpet warranties do not cover minor and normal differences between the color and texture of the retail store sample and true color and texture of the actual carpet. Replacement of Discontinued Carpet If your carpet has been discontinued and replacement is necessary, under your terms of your Royalty Carpet Mills carpet warranty, a Royalty Carpet Mills carpet of comparable quality will be substituted. Geographic Local The warranties apply only in the United States and Canada. Consequential or Incidental Damages Royalty Carpet Mills excludes and is not responsible for consequential or incidental damages under this warranty.

13 GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS ON YOUR ROYALTY CARPET MILLS WARRANTIES Disclaimer Of Implied Warranties All implied warranties which may arise by implication of law or application of course of dealing or usage of trade, including but not limited to, implied warranties of merchantability, and/or fitness for a particular purpose are expressly excluded. There are no warranties that extend beyond the description on the face hereof. Upon determination of a valid claim and that the carpet cannot be restored by repair, Royalty Carpet Mills will arrange a credit to your retailer equal to the cost of the carpet replacement excluding reasonable labor. Credit will be issued based upon the length of time your carpet has been in use and according to the prorate schedule. 14 Carpet Installation Be sure to have a professional installer install your new Royalty Carpet Mills carpet in your home. The installer must be trained in methods outlined by the Carpet and Rug Institute. The CRI Installation Standard 105 for residential installation must be followed in order to qualify for these carpet warranties. Proper installation is as important as the original quality and durability of the carpet. An improperly installed carpet will not look as good, nor last as long, and can cause delamination, buckling, wrinkling, and loss of tufts in the seam areas. Failure to have your carpet installed using the stated guidelines can void your warranties. Before you have your new carpet installed, Royalty Carpet Mills recommends you let your new carpet sit overnight, preferably unrolled, in an area not below 65 F. This allows the backing to become more pliable and easier to install. It also allows the carpet to adjust to the room s climate, which helps any fibers which may have gotten crushed during the carpet s transport from one location to another to relax back to their original state. A seam may be required during the installation of carpet, depending on the dimensions of the rooms. If at all possible, the seam should run perpendicular to windows in order to minimize the light that reflects off the seam. Seams may show, and some constructions show more than others. There are no invisible seams. A) Selection Carpet Care and Guidelines In selecting your color, take the time to look at the samples in your home, both by daylight and lamplight in the evening. The color you choose will look different under different lighting conditions. Light colored carpets will show more soil and require more maintenance than dark colors. Darker colors are more effective in high traffic areas, and multi-colored or patterned carpets are especially effective in hiding soil.

15 The performance and quality of a carpet is directly related to the amount and quality of fiber that goes into the pile. The better the fiber and the denser it is packed, the better the carpet will perform. Thin, less dense carpet will lose it surface appearance faster. It is best to buy the highest quality you can afford. B) Stain Removal Treatment of the affected area should begin immediately upon discovery. The more time that elapses before treatment, the more difficult a stain will be to remove. First scrape food spill gently with a spoon or dull knife, removing as much solid material as possible. Apply a low residue carpet spot remover to the stain, working from outer edge toward the center to avoid spreading. Blot with a clean cloth, paper towel or a microfiber cloth. Do not rub or scrub, as this action may cause the carpet to fuzz. Continue to spray and blot until the stain is gone. Do not over saturate carpet use small amounts of solution and blot frequently. Important Do not use any cleaner with a ph of 10 or higher. Always test cleaners on a small, non-visible area for any discoloration of the pile before using. C) Vacuum Regularly Most dirt, and even dust, takes the form of hard particles. When left in the carpet, these gritty, sharp particles abrade the pile of the carpet. Regular vacuuming not only prolongs the life of the carpet, but will enhance its appearance as well. Most soiling in carpet is of the dry, particle type that can be removed with a vacuum cleaner. Vacuum high traffic lanes daily, medium to high traffic areas twice weekly, and the entire house at least once a week. Use a vacuum with a rotating brush or beater bar. Change the bags often and check the beater bars for burs and gouges, so as not to damage the surface of the carpet. Some thick loop pile carpets will fuzz if a rotating brush vacuum is used. In this case we recommend a suction vacuum only.

16 Use of a Carpet & Rug Institute approved vacuum will insure that your vacuum does not damage your new carpet. Use of a non-approved vacuum may void some or all of these warranties. D) Preventative Maintenance The use of mats or runners at all home entrances and on uncarpeted areas adjacent to carpet will reduce soil and moisture in traffic areas. Clean mats and any other rugs placed over carpet regularly. The use of furniture coasters to distribute the weight of heavy items is also recommended, especially for furniture with wheels. Take care when moving furniture with wheels by putting a protective barrier between the wheels and the carpet. To extend the beauty of your carpeting, close drapes or blinds during hours of direct sunlight. Exercise extreme caution with all bleaches, tile cleaners, mildew removers, oven cleaners, drain openers and plant food. These items contain strong chemicals that can permanently discolor, or even dissolve, carpet fibers. E) Cleaning Recommendations Even with regular vacuuming, soil particles and oily dirt will cling to the carpet fibers. With foot traffic, these particles and oily dirt are driven deep into the carpet. Royalty recommends professional hot water extraction every 12 to 18 months. Periodic cleaning, using the hot water extraction method performed by a certified carpet care professional, will refresh carpet appearance. The most used areas, such as entrances, doorways, traffic lanes, and in front of chairs will collect dirt faster than other areas. Clean these areas as they begin to show soil. This will stop dirt from spreading and will extend the time between professional cleaning.

17 Non-Warranted Carpet Characteristics Appearance Retention All carpets will change in appearance over time. This is primarily due to foot traffic. Carpet in heavy traffic areas will exhibit the most change. A good quality cushion will help extend the carpet s appearance. The tips of the tufts in cut-pile carpets, over time and use, will lose a small percentage of twist, causing them to bloom. This is normal and should be expected. Crushing Crushing is the compaction of the pile thickness due to foot traffic or furniture. Regular use of the vacuum in high traffic areas will help delay any change in appearance. Carpet may also experience some level of pile crushing during its transit from one location to another; the combination of the weight of other rolls of carpet, plus the carpet s own weight on itself will cause some of the fibers to crush. This crushing will dissipate once the carpet is installed over time and with use, and is not a defect. Fading or Color Loss Carpet may slowly lose color over time. This can be caused from direct sunlight, ozone, emissions from heating fuels, pesticides, cleaning agents, benzoyl peroxide, and other household items. Care should be taken when using these items. Window treatments will reduce exposure to direct sunlight. Footprints Most carpets will show some degree of footprints and vacuum cleaner marks. This is a normal characteristic of textile products and is not a defect. Indentations Indentations will occur from furniture or heavy objects. Furniture coasters will assist in spreading the weight of the object to a larger area.

18 Matting The entanglement of fibers and tufts of the yarn tips may be caused by a cushion failure, or most often, improper maintenance. Residue from a spill that was not cleaned up thoroughly or cleaning residue that has not been rinsed completely will also lead to matting. Shading Shading is a change in pile direction that results in an apparent change in color due to the light reflection in different ways. Solid color cut-pile carpets will exhibit this more often than textured or patterned carpets. This is normal. Severe cases of shading are also known as pooling watermarking. This results in a permanent pile reversal that occurs after installation. It has no known cause and is usually confined to only certain areas of an installation. Pooling or watermarking is not considered a manufacturing defect.

19 Homeowner Obligations under the Royalty Carpet Mills Warranties In order to maintain and protect your coverage under the terms of these warranties, you must do the following: 1. Make sure you know which warranties apply to your particular carpet. The warranties are stated on the back of samples in the store at the time of purchase. It is your responsibility to know which warranties apply to your carpet. 2. Keep proof of purchase in the form of a bill, invoice, or statement from your Royalty Carpet Mills dealer, showing the price you paid for the carpet, excluding labor. 3. Make sure your carpet is installed according to the guidelines in the Carpet and Rug Institute Installation Standard CRI Show proof of periodic cleaning by a certified professional cleaning service. A bill, invoice, or a statement showing cleaning service will serve as proof of cleaning. A minimum of one professional cleaning every 12 to 18 months is required. Depending on level of traffic, family size, soil conditions adjacent to the home, and other circumstances, more frequent cleaning may be advisable. Please refer to the cleaning recommendations contained in the Royalty Carpet Mills Carpet Care and Guidelines section of this brochure. Filing A Claim Notify your dealer in writing. Be sure to describe the specific problem, and to include a copy of your invoice. Your dealer will take appropriate action, including the notification of Royalty Carpet Mills, if necessary.
