1 KOSMOS Practical Information 13 th International Aegean Conference starts Monday 19 April 9:00 am and ends Friday 23 April 17:00 Getting to Copenhagen Metro from Copenhagen airport to the city The Metro is located at the end of Terminal 3. The ticket office is situated above the railway station in Terminal 3. Tickets are also available at the Metro station and at the DSB ticket sales counter in Terminal 3. Please note that the ticket machines do not accept notes, only coins and credit cards such as VISA, etc. The Metro operates at 4-6 minutes intervals during the day and evening hours and at minute intervals during the night. The travel time from the airport to central Copenhagen is 15 minutes. We recommend that you get a blue (2-zone) klippekort, which has 10 rides on it. You will need to stamp it twice for the trip from the airport to central Copenhagen (for traveling within central Copenhagen, you only need to stamp it once pr person. It is valid for 1 hour). The klippekort can be used for trains, metro and buses. You don t have to stamp it again if you change from one to the other. A blue klippekort costs 135 kr. (= 18 Euro) Getting to University of Copenhagen Amager Metro Please note that the Metro station nearest University of Copenhagen Amager is Islands Brygge (not DR Byen/Universitetet!!).

2 Bus You can take bus number 12 and 33 to University of Copenhagen Amager. Bus 12 leaves from Vesterport Station and Rådhuspladsen (the Town Hall Square). Bus 33 leaves from Rådhuspladsen (Town Hall Square). Danish currency The Danish currency is kroner (kr.). 100 kr. = 13,50 Euro, 18,50 US $ or 12 Hotel Reservation All hotel arrangements must be made by the participants themselves. You will find a selection of different hotels on ://www2.ulg.ac.be/archgrec/kosmos.html Finding your way around the University of Copenhagen, Amager (KUA) The Conference takes place at the University of Copenhagen Southern Campus on the island of Amager (KUA) Unfortunately KUA is being rebuilt which means that finding your way is quite a challenge. The old part of KUA (the low red and grey buildings) is organised around the numbers of the stairways ( trappe in Danish, marked on the map like this ). The new part of KUA is organised around the number of the buildings. We are going to be in building no. 21 and 23, on the ground floor. Room (Multisalen) is used for the joint sessions. (See map). CTR assistants will be placed at the main entrance at KUA in the morning on Monday 19 th to help participants find their way to the lecture halls. CTR= The Danish National Research Foundation's Centre for Textile Research CTR is located in the old part of KUA, stairway number 16, first floor, on your right. 4 Visits to Carlberg Glyptotek or the National Museum of Denmark the 21 April In the afternoon Wednesday 21 April the participants may chose between a visit at the collections at Carlsberg Glyptotek or the National Museum of Denmark. National Museum of Denmark Bodil Bundgaard Rasmussen, head of the Collection of Classical and Near Eastern Antiquities at the National Museum, has offered to give a guided tour of the collection. Ulla Mannering, research manager at CTR, has also offered to give you a guided tour of the Danish prehistory collection. We will walk in groups from the University to both museums. It is about 20 minutes walk. It is also possible to get a bus. Papers Each paper is allotted 20 minutes and afterwards there will be 5 minutes for questions. We urge the speakers to keep to time as the programme is very packed. It is expected that all presentations will be in PowerPoint (PC). If you need any other audio-visual equipment, please let us know in advance.

5 Meals Lunches: On April we have arranged for the participants to buy their lunches at the University Canteen, near the lecture halls. Dinners: On 19 April the participants of the conference are invited by the Mayor of Copenhagen for a special dinner/reception at the Copenhagen Town Hall. On the 20 April there will be a reception at Carlsberg Academy for all participants. Participants will be transported by bus from the University to Carlsberg and back. The reception is sponsored by the Institute of Aegaean Prehistory and the Carlsberg Foundation. The Choir Paradox will entertain us during the reception. On the 22. April at CTR will host a conference dinner at KUA. Please remember to pay your contribution of 50 Euro (or 375kr) for the conference dinner when registering. Temperatures in April in Denmark might fluctuate from 6-20 degrees Celsius!
