2 Eye tracker quality Supervisor: Poika Isokoski Abstract: Eye tracker quality: Measure the precision and accuracy of all the eye trackers we have at TAUCHI and develop our measurement technology (TraQuMe) further. Timeline: Spring/Summer 2015 Skills: Software engineering (.Net) skills needed for implementing some types of changes in the measurement software. May be possible to complete the thesis without software development. Working with participants in the measurement sessions requires some social skills.

3 Visualization of Eye Typing Data Supervisor: Kari-Jouko Räihä (both OK) Abstract: Experiments on entering text with gaze produce massive data logs on a number of variables. The task is to design and implement visualization(s) that show in an informative way the interrelationships of the variables involved. Timeline: To be finished in Skills: Design and implementation of visualizations. Other: Information Visualization course is a prerequisite.

4 Perception of Culturally Loaded Images Supervisor: Kari-Jouko Räihä Abstract: Measuring tool (software) for cultural impressions in pictures needs to be developed for selecting pictures with strong and repeatable impressions for experiments on cultural perception. Measurement happens by asking a large number of people to rate images regarding the impression they got while viewing the picture. Results: Software and a set of pictures that represent cultural topics that are consistently clearly perceived when viewing them. Timeline: Spring-Summer Skills: SE / experiment

5 Facial Animation Supervisors: Turunen / Hakulinen + Mikko Karsisto (Apex Games) Abstract: A head-mounted camera records an actor s facial movements. The video is downloaded for off-line use or the real-time stream is used. The software recognizes the actor s facial movements from the video feed and composes usable data from it. 6 Body and head scanner Supervisors: Turunen / Hakulinen + Mikko Karsisto (Apex Games) Language: FI / EN Abstract: A system composed of multiple Raspberry Pi s or similar low-cost chipsets and camera modules, that scans an actor s head. A 3D model is created from the scan data.
