3 Getting Started A. Getting Started This is a guide with information on installation, configuration, basic and advanced usage of the software ipassconnect for Nokia S60 for Internet Roaming Service. ipassconnect for Nokia S60 is an application that allows users to connect to the Internet in places worldwide, through our Network Partner ipass virtual global network. A1. System Requirements Nokia S60 3rd edition devices (both Feature Pack 1 and 2) with Wi-Fi capability Supported Languages: English A2. ipassconnect Software Installation Instructions Before the installation, please make sure all system requirements are met. (Please refer to Section A1). To install ipassconnect, transfer the installer file to your device using removable storage cards, as mail attachments or alternate methods before beginning the installation procedure. You can also use Nokia PC Suite, if available, to install ipassconnect directly from your laptop. To install ipassconnect on your device: i. Copy the ipassconnect installation SISX file to your device. Open File Manager, locate and select the SISX file to begin installation. Note that existing versions, if any, will be replaced. 3

4 Getting Started Click Yes to continue the ipassconnect installation i Select the folder you wish to install the software. iv. You must accept the End User License Agreement for installing the application. 4

6 Getting Started A4. Uninstalling ipassconnect To uninstall ipassconnect : i. Navigate to the ipassconnect in the Installations folder. Right click on Select, and then click Remove to uninstall i Click Yes when you see below prompt. The system will start uninstalling the software. 6

7 Setting Up B. Setting Up B1. Setting Configuration Code Certain variants of ipassconnect for S60 software requires a configuration code to be entered upon first launch of the software. Configuration code for Y5ZONE users will be provided along with the software, please enter the code when prompted, before proceeding further. The code is case sensitive. An internet connection (Wi-Fi or cellular) will be required to download the latest configuration and directory information. In the end, you will need to restart your device after the update completion. i. Key-in the configuration code provided by Y5ZONE, then click OK. Click OK to connect your device to the internet using a non- ipass Wi-Fi connection or cellular connection, then the latest configuration code and directory information will be downloaded. 7

Setting ipass Credentials ipassconnect can store your login credentials, making it easier and faster for you to log in. You will generally only need to enter this information prior to using ipassconnect for the first time. To set your ipass user credentials: i. After launching ipassconnect, Select Options > Settings > User Login. 8

9 Setting Up Key-in your Username, Password. i If you want ipassconnect to store your Internet password, Click Yes to Save Password. iv. Select y5global as the Domain name, then click OK to save your changes, 9

10 C. Connecting and Disconnecting C. Connecting and Disconnecting Upon launch, the ipassconnect scans for Wi-Fi networks within range and lists them. This list displays both ipass enabled networks and non-ipass networks arranged in most-preferred to least preferred order. It is refreshed periodically thereafter. C1. Connecting to a Wi-Fi Network Though the basic procedure for connecting to Wi-Fi networks is the same for both known and unknown networks, you might be prompted for credentials in case of unknown networks. To connect using ipassconnect : i. Choose Y5ZONE network from list and select Connect. Note that an ipass enabled network will be displayed with an icon next to it. If you did not see Y5ZONE ipass enabled network on the list, refresh the list until Y5ZONE ipass enabled network appears on the list (see section D1). ipassconnect will display various status messages. Allow the processing to complete. 10

11 C. Connecting and Disconnecting i Click Yes to create offline mode in WLAN connection to continue the processing. iv. The message Connected will be shown upon successful connection v. The connected ipass network will be displayed with an icon on it. 11

Application First Mode (Connect on Demand) Application First mode, or Connect on Demand, allows you to configure the applications on your device to use ipassconnect to determine the best connection to utilize for its network communication. When an application requests a connection from ipassconnect, it will select the best available "known" Wi-Fi. The result is a generally seamless experience with this method and you will only be asked to participate in the connection process in two cases: If no known Wi-Fi is available. If you did not save your password in the Settings and are asked to enter your password to connect. To connect on Demand: i. When connecting to the access point, choose ipassconnect. Select Settings > General. 12

13 C. Connecting and Disconnecting i If you do not want to always use the ipassconnect access point, we recommend you to configure your network-aware applications to always ask for access point. C3. To disconnect from ipassconnect i. Scroll to the connected network and select Disconnect. 13

14 C. Connecting and Disconnecting C4. Network Information ipassconnect uses various icons to represent and identify different networks and various aspects. 15 D. Additional Features D. Additional Features ipassconnect contains a number of additional features that can enhance your connection experience. D1. Scanning Access Points ipassconnect displays the networks within range and refreshes the list periodically. You can also manually scan for networks within range. To scan for networks manually: i. Select Options > Refresh. ipassconnect scans the neighborhood for available networks and lists them. 15

Online Hotspot Finder The ipass Handheld Hotspot Finder helps mobile users to locate nearby Wi-Fi networks in the ipass network of more than 140,000 broadband locations in over 160 countries using the Web browser. Note that you need to have Internet access (using Wi-Fi or cellular connection) in order to use the Hotspot Finder function To use the online Hotspot Finder: i. Select Options > Hotspot Finder. D3. Post Connect Application ipassconnect can be configured to automatically launch the specified application upon connecting successfully. 16

17 D. Additional Features To add an item to the Post Connect Application list: i. Select Options > Settings. Select Post-Connect. A list of available applications is displayed. i Select the application you wish to add. This application will thereafter be executed automatically upon connection. In case you set your browser as the Post-Connect Application, you will be prompted for an additional argument to specify the URL of the home page. This option may not be available if your system administrator has already pre-configured a post-connect action for you. To remove an item from the Post Connect Application list: i. Select Options > Settings. i iv. Select Post-Connect. The Post Connect Application is displayed. Select Options. Select Remove. v. Select Yes to confirm deletion. 17

18 D. Additional Features D4. Directory Updates The ipassconnect is in-operable without the presence of an ipass-provisioned directory, which maintains a list of ipass enabled networks. It can be configured to periodically update the directory automatically and transparently without exhausting network bandwidth or consuming disproportionate processor cycles or memory. You can also update the directory manually. To configure Automatic Directory update: i. Select Options > Settings. i Select Other. Select Allow update to toggle Yes. iv. Select OK. To update Directory details manually: i. Select Options > Check for Updates. 18

19 D. Additional Features To check Directory status: i. Select Options > About. The About window will show the ipassconnect version details Profile and Directory IDs Date on which the Directory was last updated. 19

Switching Configurations If there are any changes to your ipassconnect configuration, Y5ZONE will provide you with an updated configuration code which you can enter in order to switch configuration. Note that your device needs to be connected to the Internet using a non-ipass Wi-Fi or cellular connection for this process to complete. To switch configuration using configuration code: i. Select Options > Settings > Other. Select Switch Configuration. i iv. ipassconnect prompts whether the configuration needs to be changed. Select Yes. Key-in the configuration code and select OK. v. ipassconnect will then connect to ipass Directory server and will download the latest configuration and directory information. vi. Restart your device when prompted. 20

21 E. Support E. Support This section describes features that can be helpful if you require technical assistance. E1. Usage Tracking ipassconnect keeps track of usage during the current session and also the cumulative usage data. The Usage Report screen shows the name of the network, data sent and received in kilo bytes (KB) during the last connection. It also shows the total connection duration, total data sent and received since the counters were last reset. To view the Usage Report: i. Select Options > Usage Reports. To reset the Usage Report Counters: i. Select Options > Usage Reports. i Select Options. Select Reset Counters. iv. Select Yes to confirm. 21

Troubleshooting Connection Issues If you are unable to login using ipassconnect, it could be due to the following reasons: Interference: Make sure you are working away from any obstructions, such as walls, pillars, columns, or other possible sources of interference. Signal Strength: Check the signal strength, the icon displayed at the right of the networks list. Try connecting to a local access point that gives the strongest signal. Password: Make sure you update your password in ipassconnect if the password was recently changed. ipassconnect records the details of all failed connection attempts which can be used for troubleshooting connection issues. The document being displayed is read-only file and cannot be deleted. To view the Troubleshooting Log: i. Select Options > Troubleshooting. The Troubleshooting log will be displayed which shows the list of failed/successful connection attempts, the time and date at which each attempt was made. i Select any log entry to view its details. Select OK to return to Troubleshooting logs. 22

23 E. Support iv. You may be asked for a copy of your log file for analysis. In this event, Select Options > Send log in order to send the log via . Log File Notes: [AFS] indicates Application First Scenario ; these are connections initiated by applications on your device configured to use the ipassconnect Virtual Access Point. [CFS] indicates Connection First Scenario ; these are connections initiated inside the ipassconnect client. Connectivity to ipass networks requires to steps: 1) Physical connection (association) to the access point and 2) Login to the hotspot provider. The login to the hotspot provider function is labeled a GIS login. Viewing the log files to determine whether there was an association failure or a GIS failure will help aid in the troubleshooting process. Connections to personal networks do not require the 2nd step. Association failures are most often caused by interference, or weak signal strength. In addition to interference and signal strength issues, GIS failures can be caused by a bad username/password, a problem with the venue s authentication system, or a problem with your company s authentication interface (if using a corporate account). Also, there are occasions when you may be in range of a network that uses the same network name as one that is part of the ipass network. This can cause the software to think it is in range of an ipass network, but will result in a GIS login failure since the venue s authentication is not integrated with ipass. - End of Document - 23
