2 Justification for the Proposal This course is related to Turkish Republic's history. Course Description (English) Provide a brief overview of what is covered during the semester. This information will appear in the printed catalogs and on the web online catalog. Maximum 60 words. HIST 201 is a course aimed at teaching students about and strengthening their knowledge on the Turkish War of Liberation, Atatürk s reforms and principles, and Atatürk s thoughts. Additionally, this course also aims at making students have greater interest in historical texts, an ability to analyse historic events from a multidimensional perspective, and have a grasp of Turkish modernisation in terms of political, economic, social, and cultural areas. Hist 201 kodlu ders, Türk İstiklal Savaşı, Atatürk İnkılâpları ve İlkeleri, Atatürkçü Düşünce, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Tarihi hakkında öğrencilere doğru bilgiler vermeyi, Atatürk İnkılâpları ve İlkeleri ve Atatürkçü düşünce etrafında Türk gençliğini yetiştirmeyi ve güçlendirmeyi amaçlayan bir derstir. Bunun yanısıra bu ders, öğrencilere tarihi ve tarihle ilgili metinleri sevdirmeyi, öğrencilerin tarihsel olaylara çok yönlü bir şekilde bakabilmesini sağlamayı ve Türkiye nin siyasal, ekonomik, sosyal ve kültürel alanda gerçekleştirdiği modernleşmeyi kavramasını da amaçlamaktadır. Ability to devise, select, and use modern techniques and computing tools needed for Electronics and Communication Engineering practice; ability to employ and make use of information technologies effectively with the knowledge of state-of-the art hardware but mostly software capabilities related to Electronics and Communication Engineering Ability to design and conduct experiments, gather data, analyze and interpret results for investigating engineering problems in general and for systems analysis, design, implementation and continuous improvement from Electronics and Communication Engineering perspective in particular. Ability to search data bases and other information sources effectively; ability to identify and extract effectively the required information and knowledge from literature and other open sources. Ability to work individually, to take independent initiatives, to create original inferences and to work in teams efficiently; ability to collaborate effectively in intra-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary teams; ability to take responsibility within teams. Ability to communicate effectively in Turkish, both orally and in writing and knowledge of a minimum of one foreign language (English in particular) at a fluency level enough to follow easily Electronics and Communication Engineering knowledge presented in that language and enough to communicate effectively with colleagues.
