1 C-Executive Directr(s) Key Leadership Psitins The Executive Directr supervises all affairs and activities f the lcal prgram in accrdance with the missin f STANDUP FOR KIDS as set frth by the Chief Executive Officer. The Executive Directr may be appinted by the Chief Executive Officer, reginal Directr f Operatins, r elected frm within the prgram s vlunteers and apprved by the Chief Executive Officer r Directr f Operatins. General Respnsibilities: Operates under the sle guidance f and reprts directly t the Chief Executive Officer r reginal Directr f Operatins; Assists with lcal fund develpment activities; Implements the lcal STANDUP FOR KIDS prgram as directed by the Chief Executive Officer r reginal Directr f Operatins; Ensures that the lcal prgram perates in accrdance with the bylaws, articles f incrpratin, and missin f the STANDUP FOR KIDS; After apprval by the Leadership Team, submits the cming year s lcal prgram annual budget t the Natinal Office n later than 31 Octber f the current year; After apprval by the Leadership Team, submits the prgram gals, fr the fllwing year, nt later than 31 Octber f the current year; Ensures all reprts are submitted, t the natinal ffice, in a timely manner as utlined in this manual; Identifies the times and places fr meetings f the Leadership Team; Prepares agenda fr and presides ver all meetings f the Leadership Team; Implements the kid, vlunteer, and spnsr recgnitin prgram in accrdance with guidelines established by the Natinal Office; Supervises all members f the Leadership Team t ensure prper perfrmance f duties. Additinal Infrmatin: All Executive Directrs are strngly encuraged t share the rle with anther vlunteer, effectively becming c-directrs, and t appint anther vlunteer t serve as an Assistant Executive Directr. Ding s will help prevent the Executive Directr frm becming verladed and help t ensure that mre than ne individual is familiar with the running f the lcal prgram and its unique needs. Assistant Executive Directrs perfrm thse respnsibilities delegated by the Executive Directr and shall serve as the acting Executive Directr in the absence f the Executive Directr.
2 Directr f Vlunteers Crdinates all activities related t the prgram s vlunteers including recruitment, training, recgnitin, and retentin. General Respnsibilities: Ensures all vlunteers are acceptable fr the prgram. Maintains the persnnel files n all vlunteers. Manages the lcal prgram s accunt. Prvides vlunteers with prper recgnitin and appreciatin. Arranges nging training sessins fr vlunteers. Prepares perfrmance evaluatins fr all vlunteers. Assigns vlunteers t psitins cmmensurate with their abilities and desires. Cnducts and dcuments new vlunteer interviews in cnjunctin with ther apprpriate Directrs. Ensures vlunteers cmply fully with the plicies and guidelines f STANDUP FOR KIDS. Wrking with the Frum Mderatr, ensures that all vlunteers get signed n r ff the Frum as apprpriate. Ensures that everyne n the lcal Frum, has a backgrund investigatin cmpleted by the natinal ffice. Cllects all required dcuments frm new vlunteers: Cllects signed letters frm three character references. Ensures that backgrund checks are sent and apprved by the Natinal Office, and the apprval is psted n the Frum. Obtains a cpy f Department f Mtr Vehicles Recrd, required fr every vlunteer wh drives kids t prgram activities r the STANDUP FOR KIDS vehicle. Obtains a cpy f each vlunteer s Mtr Vehicle License r ther state-issued identificatin. Additinal Infrmatin: Ensure that vlunteers have a meaningful psitin and are prvided with pprtunities t cntinue ding bigger and better things within STANDUP FOR KIDS. Additinally, submits t the Natinal Office any recmmendatins fr changes t the varius vlunteer training manuals and materials. Advisries and Cautins: The Directr f Vlunteers must be very clear n the vlunteer skill sets required by the ther areas f the prgram. Knwing what skills are required, the Directr can recruit apprpriate vlunteers t fill the need. Additinally, the Directr must be vigilant in screening ptential vlunteers t ensure that individuals wh may harm the kids are nt admitted t the prgram.
3 Directr f Cmmunity Resurce Develpment The Directr f Cmmunity Resurce Develpment manages the effrt f develping cntinuing supprt frm the lcal cmmunity. Initially this wrk is encmpassed by the cmmunity survey. Afterwards it falls t the Directr f Cmmunity Resurce Develpment and his r her team t ensure that data cllected during the survey is updated and crrect. In general, the Directr f Cmmunity Resurce Develpment has general versight fr the lcal chapter s relatinship with active and ptential cmmunity partners prviding services t runaway and hmeless yuth. Larger scale cmmunity educatin and advcacy als falls within this area, and suggests crdinatin with the Directrs f Public Relatins, Marketing and Adult Educatin. General Respnsibilities: Crdinates all presentatins and talks with civic grups; Interfaces with ther scial service prviders t learn what services are available and t infrm f the services ffered by STANDUP FOR KIDS; Develps cllabrative relatinships with ther cmmunity agencies prviding services t runaway, hmeless and street-dependent yuth; Advcates n the lcal, reginal and natinal level fr the needs f street yuth. Directr f Prgram Supprt The Directr f Prgram Supprt is respnsible fr ensuring that the lcal chapter has all necessary materials fr any utreach activities. This generally entails clse cllabratin with the Directrs f Outreach, Apartment Supprt, the Outreach Center and Fund Develpment. General Respnsibilities: Develps supprt frm spnsrs that are f a cntinuing nature; In crdinatin with the Directr f Public Relatins, prepares and presents the prgram t prspective dnrs and spnsrs fr Gifts-In-Kind (GIK); Wrking with the apprpriate respective Directrs, helps t develp and maintain the wish list fr the prgram and keep it updated n the web site; Prvides assistance t the Directr f Fund Develpment t implement annual fund raising events; Prvides reprting n mnthly Gifts-In-Kind.
4 Directr f Fund Develpment The Directr f Fund Develpment wrks in cperatin with ther members f the leadership team t determine the financial needs f the rganizatin. This directr leads the effrt t identify apprpriate surces f funding and executes strategies t secure needed funding. General Respnsibilities: Develping and maintaining a prgram budget Help lead the creatin f a Fundraising Plan Execute the Fundraising Plan Grant writing Planning and crdinating fundraising events Maintaining a fundraising database Additinal Infrmatin: Several gd fund raisers are needed t cver the annual budget. Specific fund raisers can be established t purchase particular needs as they arise. It s useful t identify vlunteers within the prgram interested in crdinating fund-raising effrts and delegate the details t them. Advisries and Cautins: Slicitatins f cntributins (either mnetary r gifts in kind) are limited t the lcal perating area nly. D nt slicit cntributins frm utside the lcal prgram area. If uncertain, discuss the pssible spnsr with the Chief Executive Officer r reginal Directr f Operatins befre sliciting.
5 Directr f Outreach The Directr f Outreach manages the lcal prgram s utreach effrts. While this generally cnsists f street utreach, it s up t the individual lcal prgram t determine the apprpriate type f utreach t cnduct based upn their unique envirnment, resurces, and needs. Fr example, sme prgrams wrk entirely within the alternative schl system and thers hst an utreach center - yet d nt perfrm street utreach. General Respnsibilities: Determines, with utreach supervisrs, the lcatin and hurs when utreach will be cnducted; Oversees all utreach activities and ensures that all utreach cunselrs are qualified t wrk with hmeless and street kids; Ensures that all utreach activities are cnducted within the missin f STANDUP FOR KIDS; Ensures that utreach reprts are cmpleted fr each and every utreach activity. An utreach activity ccurs whenever cntact is made with ne f ur kids; Cmpiles utreach statistics and submits n a mnthly basis; Maintains a psitive street image with ur kids, vlunteers, and lcal businesses. Directr f Outreach Center The Directr f Outreach Center manages the peratins f a lcal STANDUP FOR KIDS Outreach Center. Prir t an individual becming Directr f Outreach Center, that persn must have previusly served as a Directr f Outreach r an Outreach Supervisr r Directr f Apartment Supprt r an Apartment Supprt Supervisr fr a minimum f ne year. General Respnsibilities: Registratin f kids using the Outreach Center; Mail and Message Service (at the center); Shwer and Hygiene Service (at the center); Lunch Service (at the center - a sack lunch may be prvided t kids wh are in schl r wrking); Laundry Service (at the center); Dcumentatin f Kids in Outreach Center Lgs; Develpment assistance, crdinated with Directr f Kid Develpment; Jb referral and assistance, crdinated with the Directr f Kid Develpment; Crdinates with the Directrs f Outreach and Apartment Supprt which yuth are eligible t use Center services; Cmpiles utreach statistics and submits n a mnthly basis
6 Directr f Adult Training The Directr f Adult Training, under the supervisin f the Directr f Vlunteers and in cperatin with ther members f the leadership team, wrks t assess and prvide fr the basic and nging training needs f the vlunteers. General Respnsibilities: Wrking with the Directr f Vlunteers t schedule and cnduct the basic and utreach trainings as set frth in the Natinal Trainer Manual. Crdinatin and implementatin f regular training sessins by cmmunity agencies and prgrams n relevant tpics. This culd include CPR, First Aid, Gang Task Frce, Alchlics Annymus, Planned Parenthd, etc. Directr f Kid Develpment The Directr f Kid Develpment manages the lcal prgram s effrts t educate and train kids. This leader is als respnsible fr crdinating activities related t emplyment develpment and verseeing the prvisin f legal assistance. General Respnsibilities: Assist with crdinating schl recrds and btaining a diplma r GED; Awareness f different educatinal pprtunities available t kids (public, street, alternative, private, technical); Implements prgrams t assist yuth in imprving basic skills s as t (re)enter schl r live independently; Implements prgrams t aid yuth in securing emplyment. Additinal Infrmatin: Because f the varied nature f the educatinal effrts encmpassed by this psitin, it is strngly recmmend that the Directr f Kid Develpment delegate specific respnsibilities t different vlunteers. If desired, the fllwing titles may be used t dente the specific individual s respnsibilities: Assistant fr Kid Educatin: Fr activities related t high schl and cllege educatin. Assistant fr Kid Training: Fr activities related t general life skills in preparatin fr independent living. Assistant fr Kid Emplyment: Fr activities related t preparatin fr and securing emplyment. Assistant fr Legal Assistance: Fr activities related t advising kids n their legal rights and assisting with legal issues. Advisries and Cautins: Legal assistance and advice shuld nly be prvided by apprpriately trained individual (e.g., attrney, paralegal). If uncertain, refer kids t apprpriate legal resurces.
7 Directr f Public Relatins The Directr f Public Relatins is respnsible fr managing the public image f, and distributing infrmatin abut, the lcal prgram. Interfaces with the media and serves as the prgram s vice. General Respnsibilities: Prepares cmmunicatins fr the media highlighting specific needs (e.g., mney, vlunteers) r educating the public n issues related t runaway, hmeless and street-dependent yuth; Prvides cpies f all publicly distributed cmmunicatins t the Natinal Office fr ptential reuse by ther prgrams; Apprves all public relatins handuts, media releases, and ther cmmunicatins fr the lcal prgram; Handles adverse news as directed by prgram guidelines; Additinal Infrmatin: The Directr f Public Relatins submits quarterly stries abut the lcal prgram t the Natinal Office fr inclusin in the natinal newsletter. Additinally, this directr prepares public service annuncements (PSAs) fr distributin t lcal media (see the Presentatins sectin fr mre infrmatin). Directr f Marketing The Directr f Marketing wrks in cperatin with ther members f the leadership team t determine the marketing, cmmunicatin and PR needs f the rganizatin. He/she will create and execute a marketing plan t infrm and educate the cmmunity abut STANDUP FOR KIDS. General Respnsibilities: Defining marketing gals and strategies; Develping a marketing plan; Creating presentatins fr varius cmmunity grups; Writing articles and/r press releases; Creating and maintaining a marketing calendar; Crdinating marketing events; Evaluating marketing effectiveness.
