3 Introduction Congratulations on the purchase of your 8.0 Digital Photo Frame. This user guide will help you with the setup and playback of your photo, music and video collection. Features 8.0 inch display with 4:3 aspect ratio 2GB internal memory, copy files from your computer, memory card or USB memory stick directly to the internal memory Play photos, videos and music from the internal memory, memory card or USB memory stick Play a photo slideshow with transitions and background music Built-in clock and calendar function Includes a mini remote control select a different photo, pause a slideshow, zoom, rotate and other available functions Includes a schedule function to turn the frame on and off at designated times 1

4 Safety notice Do not place your Kaiser Baas 8.0 Digital Photo Frame in places that are exposed to oil, water or dust. Keep your Kaiser Baas 8.0 Digital Photo Frame away from heated sources such as heaters. Do not try and disassemble or remodel your Kaiser Baas 8.0 Digital Photo Frame. Doing so my cause the unit to malfunction and may void the warranty. Do not touch the power cable with wet hands or use defective power cables as it may cause electric shocks or fire. Do not drop your Kaiser Baas 8.0 Digital Photo Frame as it may cause serious damage and may void the warranty. Place all magnetised items such as speakers away from your Kaiser Baas 8.0 Digital Photo Frame as it may erase or cause damage to the on-board memory. 2

9 Getting started To prevent scratches on the display when transporting, there is a protective plastic sheet covering the screen. Please remove this before use. Connect the power adaptor to the DC input located on the right-hand side of the frame MENU 7

10 Connect the other end into the mains power point Connect the bracket into the back of the frame clockwise 8

11 Remove the plastic tab from the remote control before use MODE 9

12 When power is connected, the frame will turn on automatically. You will see the Kaiser Baas logo and a slideshow will start playing. There are a number of picture files on the on-board memory for demonstration purposes that are accessible when selecting the Favourite option. The demonstration files cannot be deleted. Press the Return button to exit the slideshow and go to the main menu. You will now see the following screen - 10

14 There are a number of options that you can change Language: Background: USB mode: Product info: Update: Factory default: Boot mode: Change the on-screen language Choose a different background colour If you want to connect a USB memory stick to the USB port, select UDISK. If you want to connect the frame to your computer to access the on-board memory, select PC Display firmware information and how much space is available on the on-board memory Update firmware when available Select default settings Allows you to select which mode the frame will run when it is turned on Press the Return button to return to the main menu. To set the correct time and date press the directional button Play/Pause button to select. to select Time then press the Use the and directional buttons to select, press the and directional buttons to change and press the Play/Pause button to confirm. Press the Return button to return to the main menu. 12

15 MENU Transferring your media files The 8.0 Digital Photo Frame has 2GB of on-board memory. To play your photo, music and video files from the on-board memory, you need to connect the device to your computer to copy over your files. Connect the USB cable into the USB input on the device Connect the other end of the cable into a spare USB port on the computer 13

16 Go to Setup, select Common, for PC connection change USB Mode to PC then press the Play/Pause button to confirm. You will see a Connecting with the PC message on the frame and the computer will detect the frame as a removable device. 14

17 Windows Click Start > Computer, you will see a Removable Disk icon with 1.72GB free. Double click this to access the on-board memory. It is recommended to create folders as it will be easier to organise your files. Click New folder and create a Photos folder for your picture files, a Music folder for your music files and a Videos folder for your video files. You can also create sub-folders within those folders, for example, Photos > Birthdays. Copy your various media files into the relevant folders. When are you are finished, disconnect the USB cable from the frame. 15

18 Mac On the desktop you will see this icon It is recommended to create folders as it will be easier to organise your files. Click File > New Folder and create a Photos folder for your picture files, a Music folder for your music files and a Videos folder for your video files. You can also create sub-folders within those folders, for example, Photos > Birthdays. When are you are finished, disconnect the USB cable from the frame. 16

19 Playing a slideshow To play a slideshow, press the or directional buttons to select Photo, then select the location of your photo files. For the on-board memory select MEMORY. SD USB For the SD card select SD. For the USB memory stick select USB. Press the Play/Pause button to confirm. The slideshow will automatically start playing. If you have photos in multiple sub-folders, the sub-folder that was created first will play. Press the or directional buttons to select a different photo to display. Press the Play/Pause button to pause a slideshow and press again to continue playing. When a slideshow is paused, information about the photo such as file name, file type, file size and resolution will appear briefly on-screen. Press or buttons to adjust the volume if you have background music enabled. Press the MODE button to change the aspect ratio. 17

20 Press the On-screen menu button to adjust settings for playback, enable background music, zoom, rotate, brightness, transition type and slideshow duration. If you would like to display a thumbnail of your photos press the Return button Use the directional buttons to select a different photo to display. If you would like to play a slideshow from a different sub-folder, press the Return button again to select a different location. To exit Photo mode press the Return button until you see the main menu. 18

21 Playing video files To play video files press the or directional buttons to select Movie, then select the location of your video files. For the on-board memory select MEMORY. SD USB For the SD card select SD. For the USB memory stick select USB. Press the Play/Pause button to confirm. Select the folder that contains your video files and press the Play/Pause button to confirm. Select a video file that you want to play and press the Play/Pause button to play. Rewind / forward: Press the directional button to rewind and press the directional button to forward. 19

22 Pause: Press the Play/Pause button to pause and resume playback. When a video is paused, information about the video such as file name, file type, file size and resolution will appear on-screen. Volume: Press the or directional buttons to adjust the volume level. On-screen menu: Press the On-screen menu button to access options for changing the aspect ratio, brightness level, the option of repeating one or more video files and the ability to jump to a different time in the video. Play, pause, rewind, forward, last track and next track functions are also accessible from the on-screen menu. To exit Movie mode press the Return button until you see the main menu. 20

23 Playing music files To play music files press the or directional buttons to select Music, then select the location of your music files. For the on-board memory select MEMORY. SD USB For the SD card select SD. For the USB memory stick select USB. Press the Play/Pause button to confirm. Select the folder that contains your music files and press the Play/Pause button to confirm. Select a music file that you want to play and press the Play/Pause button to play. 21

24 Previous track / next track: Press the directional button to select the previous track and press the directional button to select the next track. Pause: Press the Play/Pause button to pause and resume playback. Volume: Press the or directional buttons to adjust the volume level. On-screen menu: Press the On-screen menu button to access options for changing the background colour, brightness level, the option of repeating one or more music tracks. Play, pause, rewind, forward, previous track and next track functions are also accessible from the on-screen menu. To exit Music mode press the Return button until you see the main menu. 22

25 Playing Ebook files To play Ebook files press the directional button to select Others then press the Play/Pause button to select. Select the location that contains your Ebook files and then press the Play/Pause button to confirm. Select an Ebook file that you want to display and then press the Play/Pause button. On-screen menu: Press the On-screen menu button to access options for enabling background music, auto scroll, font colour and page number. Volume: Press the or directional buttons to adjust the volume level. Page up / page down: Press the directional button to select the previous page and press the directional button to select the next page. Font colour: Press the Mode button to change the font colour. 23

26 Explorer mode Explorer mode allows you delete files and to copy files from a SD card or USB memory stick to the on-board memory. To access explorer mode, press the or buttons then press the Play/Pause button. For the on-board memory select MEMORY. SD USB For the SD card select SD. For the USB memory stick select USB. Press the Play/Pause button to confirm. Select the folder that you want to access and press the Play/Pause button to confirm. You will now see the files located in the folder. Press the On-screen menu button to access the copy, delete, import and wallpaper functions. Press the Play/Pause button to preview a file and press the Return button to go back to explorer mode. The copy function is only available when copying files from a SD card or USB memory stick to the on-board memory. To exit Explorer mode press the Return button until you see the main menu. 24

27 Clock and Calendar To access the clock and calendar, press the directional button to select Others, press the directional button to select Clock then press the Play/Pause button to select. There are four viewing modes available, press the Play/Pause button to select a different mode. Press the On-screen menu button to change the date, time, 12/24 hour mode and to enable the timer and alarm. To exit press the Return button until you see the main menu. 25

29 Frequently asked questions Q. I have pressed the power button but there is no power. A. Please check that you have connected the power adaptor and the mains power is turned on. Q. The remote control is not functioning. A. Check that the plastic tab has been removed and the battery has been inserted correctly. It is recommended to replace the battery every 12 months. Q. I have inserted my memory card / USB memory stick but it is not reading it. A. Check that the memory card has been formatted as FAT or FAT32. The NTFS file system is not compatible. The mamximum memory card and USB memory stick capacity is 32GB. Q. The computer is not detecting the frame when connected. A. The frame needs to be in PC mode. Go to Common setting and change USB Mode to PC. The frame will appear on the computer as a removable device. Q. Am I able to play a slideshow and display the calender at the same time? A. No, you cannot display a slideshow and the calender at the same time. 27

32 Warranty information A. AUSTRALIAN WARRANTY The warranties and conditions below apply to products sold in Australia only. B. THE KAISER BAAS TWELVE (12) MONTH WARRANTY In relation to your purchase of a Kaiser Baas Product ( Product ), in addition to any warranties/guarantees that cannot by law be excluded, Kaiser Baas warrants to you that subject to the conditions and exclusions below, Kaiser Baas will, at its option, repair or replace any Product which is defective and is returned to Kaiser Baas within twelve (12) months of the date of purchase. C. PROCEDURE FOR WARRANTY CLAIMS To make a warranty claim, you must: (1) Deliver or send the defective Product to Kaiser Baas at its address shown above, together with proof of purchase in the form of a dated receipt or tax invoice, and a description of the Product s defect/s. It is your responsibility to ensure that in delivering the defective Product to Kaiser Baas, the Product is suitably packaged so that it is adequately protected against damage during transit. (2) Prior to delivering the defective Product to Kaiser Baas, you should (if applicable), remove all files or data stored on the Product which you consider private or confidential. (3) On receipt of the defective Product, proof of purchase and description of the Product s defect/s as required above, Kaiser Baas will assess the claim and notify you of the claim s outcome. (4) Any expense associated with making a claim under the Kaiser Baas twelve (12) month warranty are to be borne by you. 31

EXCLUSIONS FROM TWELVE (12) MONTH WARRANTY The Kaiser Baas twelve (12) month warranty does not apply if the Product: Is modified or tampered with; Is damaged by act of God, power surge, misuse, abuse, negligence, accident, mishandling, wear and tear, misapplication, or other causes unrelated to defective materials or workmanship; Is damaged by programs, data, viruses or files, or during shipment; Is not used in accordance with the accompanying documentation and instructions; Is repaired, modified or altered by anyone other than Kaiser Baas; Is on-sold, assigned, transferred or leased to a third party. F. EXCLUSIVE REMEDY It is a condition of the Kaiser Baas twelve (12) month warranty that in making your claim: (1) Kaiser Baas is not liable to you for any loss of your data or information stored on the Product resulting from the repair or replacement of the Product; and (2) The repair or replacement of the Product is your exclusive remedy. G. NO OTHER WARRANTIES The twelve (12) month Kaiser Baas warranty referred to above is the only express warranty given to you, and subject to any applicable laws that cannot be excluded, is provided in lieu of all other express or implied warranties and conditions (if any) including any 32

35 created by any other documents or packaging. No information (oral or written) or statements made by Kaiser Baas, its agents or suppliers, or its or their employees are to be taken as amounting to a warranty or condition or expanding the scope of the Kaiser Baas twelve (12) month warranty, and if any such information or statements have been made they are hereby withdrawn. H. CONSUMER RIGHTS You may have the benefits of other rights and remedies pursuant to law in relation to your purchase of the Product in respect of which liability may not be excluded or restricted. The conditions of the Kaiser Baas twelve (12) month warranty referred to above are subject to, and do not affect, such other rights and remedies. Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure. 33
