5 What sort of makeup will I learn? Both days are filled with demos and ample student practice time. Looks range from red carpet, to runway and editorial, from modern glamour to avant garde. Each demo is designed to cover a number of techniques to get the most from your experience, and we encourage you to customise each look to develop your own unique style!

6 Tutors HELLO MY NAME IS Lucy HELLO MY NAME IS Mika Lucy Gibson has been in the industry ten years now, regularly shooting editorials, music videos and more. She has painted the faces of celebrities from Haim and Rita Ora, to Kelis and Hugh Jackman, and regularly works with Grammy winners Miguel and St Vincent. She frequently shoots commercial work for clients such as Nike and Vivienne Westwood and her work has taken her from side stage at Glastonbury to Moscow s Red Square, as well as being published in Vogue, Tatler, Dazed and Confused, Wonderland and many more. Mika Johnson began his makeup career as a member of Illamasqua s original team of brand ambassadors, and has since gone on to his own freelance career. His work has taken him to New York and Paris, where he is found backstage at Fashion Week each season for shows such as Gareth Pugh and Issey Miyake, as well as regularly working alongside the legendary Alex Box. He has also been part of the X Factor s makeup team, working with contestants for the last three seasons.

7 Our makeup masterclasses are held in working photographic studios, in or near the city centre. Students are provided with lit mirrors and a replica of a backstage set-up, and learn on-set etiquette as part of their course. All pro kit is provided for students to use for the duration. 8 FAQs Am I eligible for the course? Our 2 day Advanced course is suitable for experienced makeup artists (You don't need to be pro, but some previous makeup training or skills are advised!). How big are the classes? We keep class sizes small to allow for plenty of one on one training and feedback. Class sizes range from What is included in the course fee? We provide eight hours of multi-disciplinary training per day in a studio environment. Each student will have models to work on, a replica backstage set-up and access to a full pro kit for the duration of the course. Refreshments are provided. Students will also receive a certificate of attendance and access to pro discount to a number of top makeup brands, as well as continued freelance support, business advice and aftercare as detailed below.

9 Will I get work after the course? This is entirely down to the individual artist. Any makeup course that promises to directly provide it's students with real, worthwhile, freelance work ismost likely being economical with the truth! Making it as a successful artist is hard work. Many schools offer glamorous sounding placements or assisting gigs that don t build the reputation of the individual artist, but instead serve to build the name of the school. We don t make false promises. Instead we take one-on-one time with each student to create a customised career plan, a consultation taking into account your location, goals, funds and style, showing you how to make money as you build your career and ways to get your own work. We provide all students with written information they can take away, breaking down exactly how the industry works, so you can start out with the knowledge it takes most artists years, even decades, of mistakes and lessons learned to discover. We show you how to network and make real connections that lead to lasting working relationships and opportunities. We also teach you how to gain assisting positions, how to work with agencies, and then continue on to make it in your own right. We often need assistants and have put together past teams for a variety of editorials and music videos as well as shows like X Factor. We will continue to do so with students when appropriate, but Mascara Wars is here to give you the skills and insider info to get out there and achieve it for yourself, with our support.

10 And what about aftercare? Our aftercare policy is simple; we are here for you whenever you need us. We will be there to advise and help you every step of the way, but you are what will get you work in this industry, and we show you how to make it.
