IPS Empress Universal Shades (A D and Chromascop) LAYERING MATERIALS IPS Empress Veneer layering materials are leucite-reinforced ceramic overlay materials for the esthetic cut-back technique. In this technique, the fully anatomical IPS Empress CAD restorations (veneers or anterior crowns) are reduced and mamelon forms are created. The incisal third of the restoration is completed using a combination of wash pastes and veneering or layering powder materials. The result is a lifelike and highly esthetic restoration. CONTRAST SPRAY IPS Contrast spray is now available in two formulas and sizes: IPS Contrast Spray Chairside 50ml (for internal and external use) IPS Contrast Spray Laboratory 200ml (for external use only)

7 CHARACTERIZATION OF IPS EMPRESS RESTORATIONS The goal with the IPS Empress CAD line is to continue the tradition of excellence in esthetics and function utilizing simple, predictable and effective techniques. Following are four ways to replicate natural chromas and translucencies. A basic internal characterization can be achieved using Tetric Color. Simply apply a thin layer on the desired internal area and then light cure. Tetric Color should be applied after etching and silanating. INTERNAL CHARACTERIZATION EXTERNAL CHARACTERIZATION A more refined characterization can be obtained when using IPS Empress Universal Shades and Stains. Shade/Stain application can be combined with Glazing in a one-step technique, then rapidly fired using the Programat P300 furnace. Images courtesy of Lee Culp, CDT The most esthetic technique involves layering porcelain over the milled IPS Empress CAD restoration. This allows you to obtain a range of translucencies and colors. This can be achieved using the IPS Empress Esthetic Veneering Materials and requires a cut-back technique that combines wash pastes, layering porcelains and glaze. CUT BACK & LAYER POLISH & GLAZE The IPS Empress CAD Multi blocks offer a multiplicity of translucencies and a fusion of color embedded in a single block.
