3 You are about to embark on a really important journey in your life. Think about yourself what do you want in life? Where do you want to go? How will you get there? Are you ready for the choices you have to make?

4 Start planning the journey now...

5 What does an individual learning pathway mean? Studying the right courses and subjects that your child will succeed in. Their route to success

6 Learning data available Year 9 review information and targets End of Key Stage 3 teacher assessment Predicted Key Stage 3 levels

CORE SUBJECTS English (Language / Literature) Science (2 or 3 GCSE s) Mathematics FOUNDATION SUBJECTS Physical Education PSHE (6 full days throughout the year) Citizenship

9 The options process Each student will follow an Individual Learning Pathway. The Option blocks have been carefully designed to offer students the opportunity to select subject preferences from a balanced and varied curriculum. There are particular restrictions that you need to be aware of when completing your four preferences. An information booklet has been carefully produced in the hope that it will answer any queries you may have about courses, choices and examinations.

10 What is the English Baccalaureate? A performance measure for schools and not a qualification in itself. Recognises where pupils have secured a grade 5 or higher in: English Mathematics Sciences Humanity: History or Geography A Language (e.g French or Spanish) RE is NOT included

Parents are involved in the process too and you must be happy that your child has chosen correctly! Subject staff will be consulted and will comment on the likely grade and the likely success of your child in that subject. We will also ask subject staff to recommend pupils for their subjects.

14 Learning beyond 3.15pm All students in Year 10 and 11 finish school at 4pm at least once a week for their high quality core Physical Education lesson. Students may also have the opportunity to follow GCSE subjects after school such as Panjabi.
