13 Clinical Presentations - HSV 2015 CDC Recommendations for the treatment of first episode genital herpes Recommended therapies Acyclovir 400 mg po three times a day Acyclovir 200 mg po five times a day Famciclovir 250 mg three times a day Valacyclovir 1 g twice a day All treatment for 7-10 days. Other strategies include episodic and suppressive therapy.
