1 PCMI: Master of Science in Applied Economics and Statistics Major The Master of Science in Applied Economics & Statistics (MS-AES) program requires a minimum of 30 credit hours. Credits awarded during Peace Corps service exceed the minimum and replace time that would normally be spent by a traditional student doing an internship, field work or research needed to complete the technical paper requirement. The MS-AES program does not require a second language proficiency; however, up to 2 credits may be earned for language training. The MS-AES program will allow one credit per term under Special Topics (APEC 899: Selected Topics), up to a total of 8 credit hours while on Peace Corps assignment. The subject matter and specific academic requirements will be determined in collaboration with the student s advisory committee. For each non-thesis option, M.S. students must complete: A minimum of 30 hours of course work with 21 hours of those hours numbered 800 or above, and A technical paper on a topic that is approved by the student s advisory committee. 1. Nine (9) additional semester hours from one of the business concentration areas (Agribusiness Management, Agribusiness Marketing, or Finance and Real Estate); 2. Six (6) hours either from a second business concentration area or from one of the technical concentration areas (Plant Industries, Animal Industries, or Environmental Industries). Technical Concentration Areas: Plant Industries Courses in the following departments: Agronomy and Soils; Entomology; Food Science and Packaging; Forest Resources; Horticulture; Plant Pathology and Physiology. Animal Industries Courses in the following departments: Animal, Dairy and Veterinary Sciences; Aquaculture, Fisheries and Wildlife Biology; Entomology; Food Science and Pack-aging; Poultry Science. Environmental Industries Courses in the following departments: Agricultural and Biological Engineering; Agronomy and Soils; Animal, Dairy and Veterinary Science; Aquaculture, Fisheries and Wildlife Biology; Entomology; Environmental Science; Environmental Toxicology; Forestry; Horticulture; Plant Pathology and Physiology; Poultry Science.
