PRINCIPALS DESK 19/06/2014 Dear Parents, This week we have completed the replacement of the soft fall mulch beneath our play equipment. We thank you for your support and patience during this lengthy exercise. The improvements will increase the level of safety for our children. I wish to sincerely thank Linda and Gerald Bracksley and Alex Molnar who moved 50 metres of softfall mulch at our working bee last weekend. Our teachers are busily writing and preparing student reports for Semester 1. Next week we will be sending semester 1 reports home with students. We will be conducting Parent & Teacher interviews on Wednesday of the first week of term 3. Interview times will be booked electronically as in the past. Details will be distributed shortly. As mentioned in our previous newsletter we are experiencing reports of head lice. We encourage all families to check and if required treat regularly. This Friday our senior students will be involved in the District Winter Sport competition. We wish our students all the best. Thank you to the families who have indicated that they will host some of the students from China visiting our school next term. If you are interested in supporting this program please contact our office. Information regarding hosting students has been circulated to families. If you require another copy please contact our office. As we move into the colder months we would like to remind families that we are well stocked with winter uniform. We have experienced a small number of students attending school in summer uniform. We encourage all families to ensure their children attend school appropriately dressed. Thank you for your support with this. Please find a moment to check the list of important dates. We have a wide range of events planned already for next term. We already have 23 students enrolled for Prep in Families are most welcome to complete the enrolment process now. This will assist with our planning for 2015 and secure a place in Prep for The schools within the Bacchus Marsh Cluster and within the South Western Region have agreed to a common enrolment date of the 31 st of August As term 2 rapidly draws to a close I would like to sincerely thank our staff, students, parent helpers and community for an exciting and productive term 2. 2 Parents Club News The Parents & Friends Club meet once a month to discuss and put into action ways in which we can contribute to our school through fundraising events. Please come along to any of our meetings if you would like to get involved. We would love to see some new faces and of course toddlers are welcome. If you can assist, please drop your details at the front office, so you can be contacted. ATTENTION GRADE 6 PARENTS Just a reminder that applications for Secondary School should be completed and submitted by the end of term. Attendance Parents it is important for your child s education that they attend school each day unless they are ill. If they are ill, home of course is the best place for them. 5 LOST PROPERTY: Our Lost Property bin located outside the Library is overflowing with items. Please take the time to check if any of these are yours. Department of Education and Early Childhood (DEECD) Reminders TOP DESIGNS 2014: The Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority and Melbourne Museum are presenting the next generation of young designers and innovators until Sunday 13 July. Top Designs is an inspiring exhibition for students and teachers to explore concepts and creative ideas for works ranging from furniture to fashion, print layout, photography, mechanical projects, architectural models and graphic design portfolios. Top Designs 2014 features top performing Victorian senior secondary students in VCE Media, Product Design and Technology, Food and Technology, Systems Engineering, Visual Communication Design and VCE VET Interactive Digital Media.
