Characteristics 1) Quick drying. 2) Excellent resistance to abrasion, heat and weathering. 3) Good corrosive prevention properties 4) No - trouble in welding and gas - cutting. Recommended uses Abrasive blasting to the grade of Sa 2¹/₂(ISO :2007). AS a temporary protective primer for the coating of Steelwork prior to the fabrication process. 2 Test piece specimen 1) Substrate : 3T C.R Steel (General cold roll steel) 2) Surface preparation : Blasting cleaned, SIS Sa 2 3) Drying condition : Room temperature(20, RH 75%) 7days. 4) Dry film thickness( μm ) : 15 Surface preparation & Application conditions - Remove salt and other water soluble contaminants by fresh water hosing. - Remove oil and grease, etc., with a suitable detergent or degreaser. - Remove rust, mill-scale and other loose material by abrasive blasting to the grade of Sa 2¹/₂(ISO :2007). - Blasting shall not Be carried out when : The relative humidity is above 85% ; or The surface temperature of steel is less than 3 above the dew point. - The surface profile must lie in the range 30~75 microns (ISO :2007). - Remove dust and dirt by high-pressure air before paint application. - Can be applied to well-prepared bare steel only. - Cleanliness All surfaces to be coated must be clean, dry and free from contamination. - Residual dust levels prior to paint application must not exceed rating "1" for dust size classes "3", "4" or "5".(ISO :1993). Residual soluble salt levels prior to coating application must not exceed 50mg / m2 as extracted and measured in accordance with ISO (2007). Coating systems See the coating systems in this manual. If there is any doubt, please consult Kunsul Chemical's Marine Paint for the standard procedure to be followed Limitations - Minimum film thickness Film thicknesses below the specified 15 microns may result in premature breakdown of the shop primer and substrate corrosion, necessitating additional secondary surface preparation. - Maximum film thickness Film thicknesses above the specified 15 microns may adversely affect welding and cutting properties and may affect the performance of subsequently applied coating systems. Thicknesses above 30 microns should be avoided. - Environmental conditions Overcoating information is give for guidance only and is subject to regional variation 2/5 11/11

3 depending upon local climate and environmental conditions. The temperature of the surface to be coated must be at least 3 (5 ) above the dew point. For optimum application properties bring the material to 30~40, unless specifically instructed otherwise, prior to mixing and application.
