Key Understandings Prompts Score Miss Waters told Gabe that Amanda had told her he liked to play tricks on people. She said she hoped Gabe didn t mind someone playing a trick on him. Gabe noticed Amanda watching him and he gave her a look. Gabe told Miss Waters he thought he might be having a bad dream. The dream was the kind when you forget to study for a test and then come to school without your pants. They both laughed. Gabe shrugged and said he liked to laugh even when the joke was on him. He went back to his seat to take the real test. What happened in this part of the story? Beyond the Text Gabe didn t like the idea of the joke being on him at first because when he saw Amanda watching him he gave her a look. But later he told Miss Waters that he liked to laugh even when the joke was on him showing that he decided to be a good sport about it. How did Gabe feel at first when the joke was on him?
