2 On the international scene, the only way is up French ports are located at the crossroad of two of the three biggest world container trades Asia / Europe and Europe / Americas In 2013 the 120 biggest ports in the world manipulated 530 millions TEUS on the current trend, expectations for 2014 are at 560 million (+5,6%) And at more than 1,300 million for 2030 with the same trend ( 900 million on a trend of 3 % ). TEN-T Challenge for European ports Europe north and south ports reach 77 million ( 15 % ) of which North / South repartition is very unbalanced The three biggest North European ports ( Rotterdam / Hamburg and Antwerp ) have operated close to 40% of the total European TEUs in and out and 60 % of the so-called North Europe range.
3 Container trades: the European imbalance Net of transhipment, the imbalance grows bigger
4 The limits of concentration Focusing on Asia / Europe container trade : Bigger and bigger ships ( from to teu-size ) 26 loops on Asia Europe / 26 weekly calls in Rotterdam. The concentration of operations has grown very high in the last few years. Yet Southern ports are in capacity to operate the big units The port of the future will have no problem on the sea shore vertical container handling The port of the future will have to bring solutions to take containers in and out of the gate The limits of concentration are already experienced on roads / railways / inland platforms in the Northern range Clients want alternative network solutions
5 The southern alternative European supply chain flows have to define a new network mapping including the Southern alternative. Fluidity and efficiency in our consolidated network, competitiveness of our flows can only increase if we consider our European territory as a platform with DOUBLE ENTRY. We already have some very successful examples (port of Koper) Marseille Fos can play this role in France in containers as in other flows. At the center of this strategy : proactivity and productivity - The right infrastructure for each core traffic - Multimodal diversified routes on short and long distance with a strong incentive to massification - Dedicated and efficient logistic solutions - Facilitating the administrative formalities

11 Container Forecast 2030 The Port of Marseille Fos could forecast a potential container throughput of about 3 M teus by the horizon of 2030 This forecast is based on a dynamic trend : - The Mediterranean plays an alternative role vs Northern range - Revised planning of massified transportation in the European network development on the «double entry concept «.

Containers: 1.1 M TEU (+3%) Dry Bulk: 13.2 MT (+7%) Liquid Bulk: 49.5 MT (-12 %) Incl. Hydrocarbures 46 MT (-12 %) Passengers: 2,6 million (+7%) Incl. Cruise: 1.16 million (+31%)
