1 Welcome to the College of Education! The administration and faculty are excited you have chosen the field of education. We are eager to assist you with your course selection, professional goals, and transition to Temple. The Advisor with whom you are working today has been given the authority to assist you in developing a schedule for fall. College of Education Undergraduate Advising recommends you choose five courses from the following array, according to your major: TEACHER CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION (with or without the Special Education Concentration) Early Childhood Education (Pre K to 4th grade) Math 1015 (Introduction to Numbers and Figures) Plus three (3) Gen Ed courses (*NOTE: Human Behavior (GB) and Quantitative Literacy (GQ) should not be selected as they are not needed for ECE students, the program has waivers for these courses.) MIDDLE GRADES EDUCATION Middle Grades Education (Grades 4 to 8) Mathematics and Science Concentration Math 1022 Pre Calculus (*NOTE: Human Behavior (GB), Quantitative Literacy (GQ), and GenEd Science (GS) should not be selected as they are not needed for MGRE students, the program has waivers for these courses.) NON-TEACHER CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS Adult & Organizational Development (AOD) Quantitative Literacy (GQ) AOD 1016 Introduction to Adult Learning and Training Any three (3) Gen Ed courses Human Development and Community Engagement (HDCE) Quantitative Literacy (GQ) Any four (4) Gen Ed courses The Academic Advisor with whom you have been working will send the College of Education Undergraduate Advising unit your name, address, and telephone number. You will hear from an Advisor at the College of Education within two business days to verify your fall roster. If you are unable to register for one or more of the courses above, we will work with you to complete your schedule for the upcoming semester. If you are changing your program into a teacher certification program, you are required to attend either a College of Education Change of Program workshop, or a First Day of Orientation School Presentation; no change of program will be officially processed until you have attended either a Change of Program Workshop or a First Day of Orientation School Presentation on one of the dates listed below. Students MUST register for a session by ing Meghan Byrnes at mbyrnes@temple.edu.
