Look Like a Million and Feel Priceless! Discover the Healing Benefits of Optimal Cell Hydration! By: Derrick M. DeSilva, Jr., M.D. Look Like a Million-and Feel Priceless.indd 1

Look Like a Million and Feel Priceless! Discover the Healing Benefits of Optimal Cell Hydration! One of the biggest causes for aging and disease is dehydration, or drying out. Next to oxygen water is the most critical nutrient for your body even more essential than foods and vitamins! Cellular hydration is key to avoiding so many of the negative side effects of aging. For example, when your cells don t have enough water it s much harder for your body to: n Fight off free radicals harmful bacteria and viruses n Heal damaged and weak cells n Keep your hormones in balance n Lubricate your joints n Maintain healthy blood flow n Flush out harmful cholesterol n Soften your skin n Keep the ph balance in your body I m going to tell you how you can youth-ify your cells so you can look and feel amazing at any stage in your life! These secrets will teach you how to identify potential health problems in the earliest stages so you can safeguard your overall health more effectively......and I ll also give you tips that will help you feel much more energized and vibrant so you can really enjoy your later years Take a Good, Long Look in the Mirror Your skin gives insight into how well your body is functioning. It s 2 Look Like a Million-and Feel Priceless.indd 2

your body s largest organ and the best weapon of defense you have to ward off health hazards in the early stages. Almost all health conditions manifest themselves through your skin. So staying in tune with your skin helps you see the early signs of nutrient deficiencies and potential health problems. For example, does your skin appeal dull and listless? This could be an indication that your cells are in need of more nutrients like water, minerals and omega-3 fatty acids. When you look in the mirror do you see signs of health threats? Your body needs plenty of omega-3 fatty acids to help: n Boost healthy brain activity n Reduce inflammation n Lower your risk for cardiovascular disease arthritis even cancer n Strengthen cell membranes for better hydration Your dull skin is the alert you need to boost your omega-3 intake by incorporating more oily fish soybeans walnuts and flaxseed into your daily diet. So the appearance of your skin is the easiest and cheapest way to diagnose what s really going on in your body. Here are a few more examples of skin symptoms that are proven links for more serious health issues: q Dark circles and eye puffiness You might think this is a symptom of sleep deprivation. But if you make it a point to get a good night s rest each night the dark circles and fluid build up under your eyes might be an indication of a salt imbalance in your body. Too much sodium in your body promotes fluid retention and the sensitive skin under your eyes is a prime spot. So pay attention to how much salt is in your diet to reduce the appearance of raccoon eyes. q Dry skin When your skin looks dry in appearance and brittle in texture it s a classic sign of dehydration. But other diseases such as diabetes atherosclerosis and 3 Look Like a Million-and Feel Priceless.indd 3

hypothyroidism can all trigger dry skin. They can deprive your skin of needed fluids for cellular hydration. Dry skin patches related to these health problems usually develop on your legs feet and shins. It s important to get to the bottom of this particular skin change so you can rule out any underlying health issues or diseases. q Wrinkles Typically when you think of wrinkles you think of aging. But there are other factors that can trigger the appearance of unwanted wrinkles. New research shows wrinkles around your brow and mouth could be an indication of poor bone health. In fact, the more visible the wrinkle the higher the risk for low bone density. This is especially a risk for women in the early stages of menopause. q Dark skin patches If you have patches of skin that appear darker and thicker in areas around your neck and body creases this can be an indication of diabetes or insulin resistance. In the more severe cases it can even be an indication of cancer. With any changes to your skin it s important to get a thorough assessment by a healthcare professional to determine the underlying cause for the skin change. Don t belittle them because these can be the earliest indications of a health crisis. The sooner you take action the better your chance to remedy the situation. It s All About the Juice I m sure you already know how important it is to maintain a healthy, balanced diet. Your cells absorb many of the nutrients consumed through the foods you eat. But if you struggle to meet all your dietary requirements or tend to eat the same fruits and vegetables daily then you might find this alternate method for nourishing your cells very beneficial Juicing is an excellent way to ensure you absorb potent nutrients for optimal cellular support. Studies show about 95 percent of all the vitamins enzymes and other essential nutrients come from the juice of raw fruits and vegetables. Plus, you 4 Juicing delivers essential vitamins, minerals and nutrients to all your trillion of cells. Look Like a Million-and Feel Priceless.indd 4

Keep the Pulp! Juicing is very beneficial for helping you keep your cells well nourished with a healthy supply of nutrients. However, there are nutrients that don t transition well into juice form. For example, pulp from many fruits and veggies contain needed amounts of fiber. Your body needs fiber for: 4 Healthy bowel activity and function 4 Keeping cholesterol levels balanced 4 Regulating blood sugar levels 4 Promoting healthy weight loss So when you re done juicing your foods don t throw away the pulp! You might enjoy adding some of the pulp back into your juice to make sure you don t miss out on your dietary fiber. Using a blender to juice will help make sure the fiber content isn t lost. All you have to do is add a little more water if you don t want the mixture to be too thick There are also many recipes that allow you to cook with the unused pulp too. Muffins breads salads pastas yogurt smoothies and soups are some of the popular methods that allow you to make good use of pulp from fruits and veggies. benefit from the fiber, pulp and living enzymes that aid digestion. Here s another reason why juicing is great for your cells Juicing is even more beneficial than supplementation. Taking a supplement to meet the nutrient needs for your body still has a synthetic element that limits how much your cells can absorb. However, the juice from fruits and vegetables contain all-natural minerals and plant-based nutrients your body will have no trouble utilizing to the full. Drinking the juice from seasonal raw foods allows highly concentrated amounts of minerals enzymes and vitamins to quickly enter your bloodstream. The juice completely bypasses your digestive tract to ensure you get the potent doses of nutrient power you need. That means you can potentially get a steady flow of nonstop energy to all your trillions of cells every day! Your organs muscles and tissues can readily absorb the nutrients being circulated allowing you to stay energized and feel great! 5 Look Like a Million-and Feel Priceless.indd 5

Hate Drinking Water? No Worries Just Eat Your Fluids! If consuming a lot of liquids is a challenge for you rest assured there s a simple solution to help you meet your daily water needs I highly recommend you eat your fluids! Your body simply cannot function without a healthy supply of water. So you need to make sure you re drinking enough fluids daily. However, there are many foods that are water-rich and bursting with vitamins and minerals: Below is a list of hydrating fruits and vegetables that quickly deliver fluids right to your cells! Try incorporating a variety of these foods into your diet to meet your daily water needs: n Apples 84 percent water n Apricots 86 percent water n Bananas 74 percent water n Blueberries 86 percent water n Broccoli 91 percent water n Cantaloupe 90 percent water n Carrots 87 percent water n Cauliflower 92 percent water n Celery 95 percent water n Cherries 81 percent water n Cranberries 87 percent water n Cucumber 96 percent water n Eggplant 92 percent water n Grapefruit 91 percent water n Grapes 81 percent water n Green cabbage 93 percent water n Green peas 79 percent water n Lettuce 96 percent water n Oranges 87 percent water n Peaches 88 percent water n Pears 84 percent water n Peppers 92 percent water n Pineapple 87 percent water n Plums 86 percent water n Radish 95 percent water n Raspberries 87 percent water n Red cabbage 92 percent water n Spinach 92 percent water n Strawberries 92 percent water n Tomatoes 94 percent water n Watermelon 92 percent water n White potatoes 79 percent water n Zucchini 95 percent water Another benefit to eating your water is you also supply your cells with essential vitamins natural sugars minerals salts amino acids and nutrients that each food contains. Many of these fruits and vegetables are loaded with fiber! As you get older your digestive tract begins to slow down. The extra boost in fiber rich foods and fluids will kick your digestive tract in high gear. You ll feel more energized and your cells will stay fueled so you can stay active during your day! 6 Look Like a Million-and Feel Priceless.indd 6

There are many studies that support the healing properties of juicing. These studies have revealed juicing helps: n Boost immune power n Increase energy levels n Keep your skin healthy and more youthful looking n Promote healthy weight loss n Strengthen your bones Juicing can even help lower your risk for more serious diseases like cancer strokes and cardiovascular diseases. If you decide to give juicing a try make sure you select organic, seasonal foods. Organic produce limits your exposure to harmful pesticides toxins chemicals and hormones typically added to non-organic produce. I ve even found many of my patients feel organic foods taste better than non-organic foods. Eating seasonal produce also helps ensure you get the highest amount of nutrient power that plant-foods naturally produce. To help you get started, here are 3 simple tips for successful juicing q Try to drink the juice the same day you press the foods. q Store juice in a tightly sealed container in the refrigerator. q Drink your juice on an empty stomach or at least an hour before your meal to allow for better nutrient absorption. Now you also need to be mindful of the amount of calories in your juice mixtures especially if you plan on using juicing to help with weight loss. Juices with a higher fruit or pure fruit content will also have a higher calorie content. Now if you plan on having more vegetable based juice mixtures you won t have to worry as much about the calories. A simple way to remedy the problem is to add a little more protein in your juice. You can try adding the following protein rich foods 7 Look Like a Million-and Feel Priceless.indd 7

to your blended mixture to reduce your caloric intake: n Almond milk n Flaxseed n Greek yogurt n Peanut butter You should still make it a point to eat about 3-4 vegetables and 2-3 fruits per day through your diet. A well balanced diet along with juicing can deliver an amazing supply of nutrient support to your cells. With this kind of support you ll being looking and feeling great for decades down the road! A word of caution before you start juicing, make sure you speak to your doctor or healthcare advisor. A sudden boost of nutrients can interfere with how medication functions in your body if you re currently taking them. Get a thorough health assessment before incorporating juicing into your daily diet. Keep Your Body Strong and Energy Levels High! The earlier you catch the signs of dehydration the better you ll be able to adjust your fluid intake and keep your cells properly hydrated. It s truly amazing how much your mind and body can be completely transformed when you have the right amount of fluids in your system. Remember sick, dehydrated cells equal a sick body. So be sure to feed and hydrate your cells. It will be much easier for you to create a healthy lifestyle that will have you well on your way to dancing to your 100 th birthday!
