The forest industry is Finland s biggest export industry, bringing in approx. 20% of the export earnings. Some 75% of Finland is woodland. Products made from wood can be recycled. We use products made from wood every day. The forest industry is an important employer. The recreational use of forests is an important source of wellbeing.

3 TFOREST INDUSTRY EMPLOYS BOTH AT HOME AND OVERSEAS FOREST INDUSTRY LOCATIONS IN FINLAND Finland s forest industry employs roughly 42,000 people and the entire production chain approximately 150,000 people. Finnish forest industry companies are international, employing approximately 37,000 people abroad. A fourth of the industry s current workforce will reach retirement age over the next 10 years, in addition to which the need for competent workforce will grow due to the industry s renewal and investments.
