2 21st Annual Diabetes Day Control of Diabetes: In the Hospital, New Technologies and Beyond Join Us at the 21st Annual Diabetes Day Diabetes Day: Control of Diabetes: In the Hospital, New Technologies and Beyond is a CME-certified educational symposium presented by the Cleveland Clinic and Metabolism and Center for Continuing Education to provide up-to-date reviews of advances in management strategies for patients with diabetes. Key topic areas include the pathobiology of diabetes complications, new oral agents, diabetes control, and current guideline recommendations. Attendees Will Learn How To: Summarize the management strategies for diabetic ketoacidosis and hyperosmolar coma Review use of diabetes medications for inpatients and explain how the hospital environment affects choice of medicines Review the efficacy and side effect profiles of recently approved insulins and describe their clinical use to improve glycemic control Discuss the role of pancreas transplant in type 1 diabetes Discuss the role of artificial pancreas devices in diabetes therapy Summarize recommendations in the Cleveland Clinic Diabetes Care Path; Explain the role of oral diabetes therapies in regards to cardiovascular outcomes Review insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring, and assess limitations in tools used to monitor glucose control Describe therapeutic choices and treatment strategies for weight management in patients with diabetes Explore the outcomes of employer incentives in improving diabetes control Who Should Attend? This activity is designed for primary care physicians, endocrinologists, diabetes educators, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, dietitians, and other health care professionals who care for patients with diabetes.
